The way you draw Grim is too cute I can't get over it!!! Actually, ALL of this was too cute!!! I love the way you handled the transition between the real world and Ki's illusions, and I love how you used body language and positioning to communicate Ki's personality even though she can't speak and hardly interacted with the other characters at all. Really a stellar job! I also love that you used Hyde's unique abilities and Grim's creative problem solving to solve Ki's puzzle! It was just a really good story altogether, a very pleasant forest romp that I would 10/10 go on again! And the ending was 😙👌 super cute and charming and wonderful!

Easy to read and understand and visually strong, all strong points! The story isn't as dynamic as I'd prefer but it had a cute punchline, thumbs up

Snowy- The visuals were wonderful, your inks are on point and your style is charming as usual. I loved how you drew Grim and the other agents (Arts Fluffy hair was VERY good) It was also delightful how you used colour to signify that the characters had wandered into Ki's "realm". Like I said on the NDA server, I thought this was a really effective "show don't tell" way to get this across to your reader.
The story worked as a great & very in-character outing for Grim, her dynamic was Hyde was very well handled as well. I also appreciate your creative approach to incorporating the Grims AU status and setting into your comic.

Sun- POWER MOVE. I'm glad you resolved your feelings about the site & I'm excited to see what you do next. <3

Snowy - This was so cute and magical! I loved the soft pastel style change, and I definitely got the feeling of disorientation Grim and Hyde would have from wandering around. Sometimes I felt like that wasn’t entirely purposeful though - I felt like there was a tendency to switch directions for seemingly no reason. On page 3 Grim is walking to the left, but is then facing Hyde to the left, even though he was behind her. On page 10, Grim and Ki-Sumi switch positions between panels 1 and 3, then when Ki leaves, the forest seems empty and Hyde can’t be seen, so I assumed Grim was facing a different direction, but he reappears in the last panel when Grim doesn’t appear to have moved? Speaking of the last page though, I love the ending and the reveal :) Acquire Completely Normal Ball.

Sun - Damn, I’m glad you realised Void wasn’t for you but I’m sad to see you leave :( I don’t think yours is an uncommon issue. I’m the kind of person who won’t do shit without a deadline so Void has been very helpful for me, but if you already have the dedication and it’s time that’s the problem, it makes sense that Void would be counterproductive. Keep in touch okay?

Snowy-  This was an adorable fun tale and it reminder me of the feeling of transiting through the Ilex Forest from Pokemon G/S (my favorite gen) and getting lost and finding the Celebi Shrine and hoping to get an gift and getting nothing of worth (cuz we get shit in the US version), anyway it filled me with childhood nostalgia, so kudos and I love to soft and squishiness of your characters here, I love seeing more NDA comics, this was highly enjoyable.

Sorry to hear you retiring Sunrise, but I can understand and respect your feelings, stay golden my friend and always remember the saying, "Once a Voider, always a Voider", you are part of the Void and your time here shaped it into the place it is, no matter how big or small, you have contributed to this site, and are forever part of the brotherhood.

Cheers.

Hello everyone, this is my letter of resignation. While leaving quietly with words of apology to Snowy was my initial plan, this site is a place of learning; so I thought I'd also share how Void has been for me so that something might be gleaned from my experience here.

My first hurdle was the time limit, which is obviously one of the main attractions of the site 'are you a bad enough guy to blast this comic out in
  • weeks?'. The answer for me is mostly no, but yes at a price. The vast majority of my comics have been completed in two weekends despite whatever time period I had agreed to. The initial weekend is always a given because I know it's free because I've agreed to do the comic. This is where some work got done. The second load of work would inevitably be done on the final weekend as I come screaming through the finish line, car disintegrating into a ball of fire. These two work loads were not even. The first would be a nominal amount of work and some sketch ideas. The second was the entire rest of the comic. The last battle I did against Snowy was functionally a 24 hour battle because that's the amount of time I spent on it by the end.

So why is this happening? Firstly I have a full time Monday to Friday job. Lot's of people have this, so that's not a shock to anyone. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've come home from work and done drawing for Void; for me work days are basically write off days for drawing. Okay, that's not that bad, we still have the weekends right? Ah, no, I have a several circles of friends whom I want to spend time with. This is all sounding pretty rote right? We've heard this before. 'Well obviously you don't have time'. Yes, I don't. But that does leave the question, 'who does? It would seem to me there are three types of people for whom Void is great for. Firstly is students with loads of free time. This one is obvious and if you were to look at Void as a whole, is probably who  the 'intended audience' is. The second one would be the fast artist, someone who can produce good work in a timely fashion in the time that they have available. The third is the chad artist who isn't fast but is prepared to come home from work every day and continue to do labour on a project they love. I'm none of those people, so how has this impacted me?  Well, the quality of my work has universally dropped and at times dropped through the damn floor. In my efforts to get comics done on time they're rushed to shit and as a result look worse than art I do with no time constraints. I'm ending up producing worse art under stressed conditions to get it done by the deadline. It's a pretty shit experience if I'm honest.

I don't feel these problems are reconcilable so rather than enduring this I'm quitting. I post this out of a curiosity; how many other people have come through Void, felt how I felt, and then silently left? Void is littered with no end of artists who turned up and vanished, some even quitting right in the middle of tournaments. At least there's some record of why I left for anyone reading this in the future.
