Becs-- Love the energy of your art style. It was like watching a cartoon, because of all the wonderful expressions and fluid movement. The best example of this was Page 6--it looks great when the vehicle turns the corner. Your coloring technique was also a plus for me--especially the little touches, like the glowing sun on Page 7. I really can't wait to see how far you can take this style. Though I enjoy the frenetic quality, next time I'd like to see slightly more polish (*slightly*) and perhaps either more vibrant color palette. Keep up the good work
bl00--First off, I love the angles you have in your comic--you put perspective to good use, especially in the first few pages when Roy's with Wiz on the street. I also enjoy your very twisted style--pages 3 and 4 remind me of something from a Gorillaz video, which is delightful in my book. While I liked your black and white pages, I think your comic really came alive once you got to the colored pages, so I'd love to see more of that in the future. Eagerly looking forward to more work from you!

This really was a heavyweight all out brawl, not among the fighter, but more between the artists. Seriously, you both brought your A game and made this a challenge to all the readers as we grapple with how to distribute our votes. you both have an an excellent handle of sequentials and really know how to tell a story. BECHAHNS, your use of light on your pages, especially in the crashed van panels was superb. you literally managed to make a grayscale comic feel like it had warm, compelled me to squint even though it wasn't real light. BL00CHIKIN, Roy's guitar battle summoning roaches felt like something out 'night on bald mountain'- like literal animation stills. I had so much fun reading these two comics you guys. I can't even.

mostly, I love the heck out of these comics. though I have to agree with drasticfantastic on the shading thing bl00! it was neat when it transitioned to the color, but it was pretty jarring switching back. bechahns, I didn't realize it was a keg at first! I dunno if this is my own stupidity or what though, haha. personally I'm also not a fan of song lyrics in comics, but I was okay with it in this instance. drasticfantastic, again, has already covered this but I also had to reread this a few times to really get everything.
these are really strong comics you guys! also, a super great match up.

Thanks so much for the fantastic feedback everyone, and Drastic - thanks for the critique. I totally see what you mean. In this instance I think it was a case of too many ideas vs. too little time that meant my pacing was a bit chaotic. I'll definitely do my best to work on that in future!

WELL. This was pretty much what I expected it to be: two rad as hell comics! I'll split up my review/critiques as always but honestly just know that all the many things you two did right were really similar on both sides! Most things I'll be pointing out are NIT-PICKS since these battles for the time limit were very well done. Your doing great!
Bech: The sheer organic level of your works is what I really gravitate towards and what holds everything you did together. I'm not saying of course without this your art and comic would fall to pieces but it IS one gorgeous unifying element that is persistent through your entire aesthetic. It also sets you up to push the limits of rules and style in a way that doesn't seem really forced and that's also very good for people's confidence and comfort with your own work. Though it suited the events on the pages, some of the panels got a bit crowded and even though it was meant to be a bit chaotic as the comic went on and Scrumpy & Roy went on their bender, it left me having to slow down and figure out what was actually going on in a few panels. Make sure you have your antics but don't have them literally crammed inside a frame taking it up ALL the space too often.
Bl00: You've got a confidence in your own line-work and shapes that not many artists have naturally, that's one of your biggest strengths right now. Your expression are also varied enough and your line-variation is just to the point where it gets its point across. You seem to have a very sharp knack for a savvy type of minimalistic treatment of drawing elements that makes both your work complex and simple at the same time. Very well done. I know it was only a two week battle and time might have run out for you but part of me wishes you might have just been able to get in some of those shadows you had on page one to the other non-colored pages that you had, because coming out of those colored ones onto the straight black and white lined ones felt just a tad empty. Good flow action from panel to panel but some of those extra large black gutters, despite their use for dialouge were place slightly oddly on some of the pages as well, especially the black-white ones. Keep it up!

LOVED both of your comics, first of all! Had a bit of a struggle with the flow on Bl00's first page reading it in order (it was just from the first few panels, how the bubbles are arranged. And probably a bit of my own fault too LOL), but I absolutely love both of your characters and how they interact so well!! Keep up the good work!!

BecH: I love sepia look this had throughout. It had a nice overall feel to it, I even went to youtube and played the song that was introduced in the beginning while reading it. Some panels seemed a little to crammed, that's okay sometimes, but I felt like you had too many. By the way, Thanks for the cameo! So cute ; ; Can't wait to see more Scrumpy!
Bloo: Beautiful stuff! You always have very nice drawing quality in your comics. I'd really love to see a colored comic from you that had the color scheme you used on page 6, The BG colors look so good behind Wizzie, it has this really cool urban feel. This comic has a pretty cool and neat concept, I enjoyed it. I do think you need just a bit more detail in your drawings, just something more here and there, maybe more stuff going on in the bg, but I feel it's missing something at times. Another thing, if I can nitpick a little... I know they're hard to curve and get right, but it always bugs me when people draw a person playing a guitar... THAT HAS NO STRINGS. Just a pet peev of mine so don't worry about it too much, ahah. Nice job with this overall, though!
