Terry: I love the style of you two together! Gorgeous art! The PPG intro to me set up a certain tone that wasnt kept throughout though, i thought it'd be more of a comedy or something based on the start but creative way to engineer your worldbuilding! Fight scene i feel like i started to get a little lost but I thought the pacing was great. I loved the last panel.
Azure&bros: ngl i legit thought that eyeball thing was capgras at first i was super confused lol. im still not sure I have a totally good understanding of what that was. the story was heartfelt, I loved the back and forth flashes from past to present, I actually wish it had been a bit longer so we could have seen more of what terry and Azure meant to each other, or at least some kind of epilogue, it seemed to happen so fast. The artwork is STUNNING. GORGEOUS. top tier no complaints, i WISH i could draw and paint like you guys can. Beautiful, emotionally charged comic great job you guys!

Thanks everyone for the critiques and comments, it's greatly appreciated. This tournament was a huge learning experience for me with developing my style, even though personal problems kept me from delivering a fully polished, value-attentive render, the battle still helped me hone other elements of my style that were lacking in the past. Working with petarvee was great from beginning to end and I hope to have more collaborative experiences with him and other members in the future.
RhimZee Idunno if you both are sick of my constant praising of you guys every time you drop a new comic but it's not gonna stop as long as you continue to produce such phenomenal work. This is a touching and beautiful end to our child's brief career and I can't wait to see what you have in store for round 2.

This is probably the most prominent battle to stand out in my mind due to perfect execution of art, story, and that moment where everything comes together. Know that from this point forward I am only judging both battles as a matter of /preference/ however, team Terry gets a slight edge because of a beyond battle that informs these characters further.
Team Azure [spoilers]
From the moment I opened the first page and to the last I felt that nothing was wasted and I got all the facts that I needed. This was a friend rescuing another friend and it was bound to be tragic- and this works in your favor because your opponnent is actually VERY hard to dislike The sweetness of this work was balanced well with the action that didnt miss a beat. From start to finish this showed me another side to Azure as an empathic hero of science. The cutbacks and cutforwards are seamed together and I "got it" Everything about this was enjoyable and the piece is extremely strong even going up against Petarvee and Pyras.
Team Terrance [spoilers]
Terrance is must be protected for he is the product of an amazing cast and we all understand that he has undertaken a heavy burden the moment that he was born. So the moment we see the conflict come together we expect that this battle will be the usual unwilling martyr affair- however what got - WHAT REALLY GOT ME was page 11. It was not only the coolest kung fu logic I've heard but it was also a solidification of his relationship with his moms and bots. Again, family is Terrance's strong suit but I get the feeling that visceral yet cathartic outrage will become his second weapon later on.
PS. As i was typing this crit i may have changed my mind about some point values the more I think about it, the more ingenious each fight was in their own ways. Thanks for the treat folks : )

To both teams: Fantabulous jobs to the both of you! I'm just freaking floored. There's not much else I can say that hasn't been mentioned by some of the previous comments, so I'm going to try and keep this relatively short and sweet.
-----------
Team Terrance:
The good:
+ I gotta say the first 4 pages of the comic are my absolute fave. Jut everything works so well together and I'd love to see you two work together more with that level of detail. Those textures are just *Italian kissing fingers gesture here* molto bene.
+ I'm interested in this world. I would LOVE to see some other kaiju's and learn more about the school. It sounds freaking awesome.
Now onto the things that made me go "hmmm":
- I love pages 1-4 a ton, and have to agree that it does look like the shading was done with colors teetering on the desaturated side. I'd love to see the shading with more saturated colors.
- I would've loved to see some more shading on the later battle panels. All that fire, it would've been cool to see some of that heat reflected on the characters.
----------
Team Azure & Co.
The good:
+ Holy fucking shiet. I could see this comic in a store. It's so goddamn good. I love the utilization of flashbacks. I enjoy these characters, I enjoyed the battle and seeing the detailed destruction of the backgrounds. The colors are just so goddamn good-- I have to stop myself from gushing over this too much.
I love these characters, and I felt and connected with them. I have no critiques for this. Just incredible.

I have never read something on here that had me on the verge of tears but you guys did a damn good job.
Team Terrance: I really liked the build up of why Terrance went to the college, but the fighting was a bit hard for me to keep up with. Mainly the last two panels. I really liked the bittersweet ending. And the reference to Powerpuff Girls in the beginning had me laughing.
Team Azure: Your composition was amazing. The backgrounds were well done and the transition from past to present went smoothly. The ending had me in tears. There's honestly no other way I can describe this than great. Good luck to you both!

pyras+Petar: wasn't a big fan of the Powerpuff reference, I think we've learned by now that references often have the wrong impact for non-comedic comics. If you expect us to take it seriously, try not to start us off with the whole premise being based on a joke. Also the writing is a bit cringy. Why is beowolf offering him a giant breakfast in the car? Strange gag.
Terry's got some huge, feminine hips!! 0_0;
The battle scene didn't convey very well either. The use of color made me a bit confused as well. What were the blood viles for and was this important to the story? Red generally signifies danger, anger, etc, but this lighting felt strange. And what's the point of him splashing water on himself? Panel feels pointless and imo breaks flow. Terry coughing in kaiju form. Was that suppose to be funny? I'm like... awkward >_> lots of weird pointless breaks. This feels all over the place. I liked the use of color and the transition at the top of page 14. At the end of the page however, his mom gets dissed and this is the PERFECT opportunity for a cool one liner and he just TAKES IT?? Defend your mom ya loser!
Rhim + Zee: Colors and lineart is inspiring as always. Looks like you got Park Kim's hair color wrong in page 2 panel 2. Did they get a chance to read the into to Terry's comic where Parks hair changes to white? Love baby kaiju. 2 cute. I enjoy the seamless back n forth in the timeline. I'd like more backstory on that giant eyeball, but I understand if you had to cut some out for time. I liked it quite alot but you too are also used to working together.

Alright so.
Team Terrance:
First off, cool stuff. Not a bad comic.
However, I'm not feeling the color rendering and the writing of the end portions for this one.
Lets start with the art. Those are pretty well composed, and I love the use of panel layouts. The problem I have with the art is twofold and linked with each other. The shading is very unsaturated grey on color and very much of similar values, which makes a lot of scenes look murky and lacking in depth. This is a huge problem that leads to the 2nd part of the problem: clarity. It's very hard to read what's going on once we are on the kaijuu battle and I had to spend a good few extra seconds to parse it. That is not so good.
Next is the story, one that is very much all over the place near the end. It actually began fairly good and simple. Establishes Terrance, and why the doctor wants to eradicate him. Sure, fair enough. Then comes the battle and the flashback. I actually like that part. My own brain questions the advice Park gives Terrance there, but ok whatever it's kung fu advice. My beef is what happens after that. First of all, Terrance doesn't appear to use that advice clear enough to make that a good payoff.
Then comes the little bit at the end about disgracing his mothers. I think that is pointless melodrama. Not only did it come out of literally nowhere and after, you know, the doctor jumps right into trying to murder Terrance in a move that I'm very sure most mothers would disapprove of with nothing in the comic that would imply otherwise, but it also came after that sweet flashback that offered insight into a nicer relationship with the two, hence rendering it COMPLETELY POINTLESS.
This comic was not bad by any means, but I kinda wish it could have been better. A star for effort tho.
Team Azure:
I. Actually have nothing bad to say about this and am floored. No panels feel empty. The action is cool and well composed. Nothing looking off. The story was ok and works for it, and the execution of said story was terrific and well paced. Feels at the ending man. Good work. Would be something I would pay for.

Pyras and Petarvee: Your guys's art is heavily impressive, it makes lots of sense why you guys are viewed as some of the best on the site, however I feel like the world building failed to grip my attention. It felt just like the kind of thing a story may tell you initially, without really giving that large of a reason to care about it. The story as a whole didn't really grip my attention personally, but that might just be due to personal preference. Overall though, you guys definitely heavily succeeded in the art department, and I'm super impressed by how ambitious this is! Good first round!!
Zee and Rhimwill: The story of childhood friends honestly just feels super adorable to me tbh??? I love seeing little kids and this is no exception! I really like the flashback parallel structure you kind of added to the story, it gave the backstory that viewers would need to feel emotional, and its super cute, and stuff!I can't really think of any criticism, this comic is really nice!!

Both of you have produced some very nice comics, so congrats on that.
Pyras and Peta, I have to agree with Radji that the Kaijuification doesn't seem to be a problem here looking at the city. I feel like you wanted a Kaiju fight but then when we get to that point we don't really get enough of it. I like the direction the story was going, though. Very interesting concept.
Rhim and Zee, this was very well put together. The artwork was particularly striking, it would seem that the combined power of both your stiles is a potent combo indeed. And that color is just amazing. Storywise it was simple, but effective. I like the duality if the past to present aspect.

ZeeRhi: WorldBuilding was weaker than your opponent but you already worldbuilded with that pevious intro comic. You then focused on the story of the fight. And i like it: nothin' more traumatizing that failing to save the life of somebody you grew up with. Poor Lil buggos siblings gonna be emotionnal wreck for the rest of the tournament and it interests me to see how it will plays in future confrontations.
PetaPyra: the Kaijuu AU is interesting cuz it could lead to so much interesting kaijuus variants! Some lighter tones confuses me cuz it looks like one of those JJ Abrams movies where he abuses the shit out of flare effects. I don't really feel the tensions of a society that lives under kaijuu threat: no re-enforced windows on buildings? But still intrigued

You're all super awesome and I'm so so glad you all liked our comic, the feedback really means a lot and it's incredibly appreciated.
Also, to Pyras and Peter, I really enjoyed your comic personally. I found the idea/ plot intriguing and really truly would like to see more, if only we could.
Peter, some of these pages are laid out masterfully, the paneling is an art in itself.
Pyras, what you managed to complete is absolutely stunning, you are a fantastic artist.
Thanks for the great battle you guys!
... as for Park's hair, she dyed it back here you see... I totally didn't just mess that up because I was super tired while coloring and forgot..... cough cough. (Sorry Pyras!!)
