Oh bravo to both of you, the comic pages that you both did is very COOL!
It has action and colors and effects!
The way the characters meet up is almost the same.
hmm I can't find anything wrong with these comic pages..
but anyways cool entries that you both did!!

Huh. That was interesting. I only found one mistake in the text which made me happy. Art was styledm not bad at all. Some of the twists surprised me in the story which is good to keep someone's interest. Right at the beginning you think it's just a girl who wants this guy badl, kind of funny. I like the end twist there where it turns out he's really a criminal who gets away. The anatomy is good too. But I can't figure out what's wrong with this comic. These types of comics I never look at but I just had to look. Turns out it's pretty good.

You both went full DBZ on this. I'm so totally digging the effects and action in both your comics. And, as mentioned in the chat, they almost kinda link up with each other, although they do so in such a way that it ends suddenly, instead of with a conclusion and punchline that The Man Who Planted Swag's has.
Rittzler, I kind of feel like the first panel on page two crosses the line of action in an odd way. The fist being thrown is consistent with the panel below it, but maybe it could have been staged differently so it doesn't look like it's moving to the right of the page so much when Navy's "side" is the left, when I think you meant for it to be coming more forward. That mouth glowing bit was so cool. The line quality and the areas of color can be a bit messy, and that takes away from the impact of what you've drawn.
The Man Who Planted Swag: Aw yeah effects drawings! You got a whole fight scene, and a story in there, too, complete with a funny conclusion! I feel like maybe you could have lightened up on the closeups a bit, and that there's probably a better way to block in background buildings simply.

Hrnnnngh thanks so much for all the positive feedback and critique guys, it's so, so appreciated!
Generally ya'll seem to agree that i have strong action and paneling(apparently!), and I really, REALLY need to add more backgrounds, lol. I'll definitely try for more in later comics.
G.Lo your point about my static poses being stiff makes a lot of sense, I redrew most of the action panels but more or less just went with the first pass on most of the calmer parts! I should probably go over those more, too.
Sorry about the font Ichi, I'll try to use something a little better next time I guess haha. And yeah, prepare for small waists and thunder thighs en masse if you come back to read any more of my stuff!
And Bobo, dude, totally! I'm super down for another comic asap, and it doesn't seem like I'll be winning this round(as it should be tbh), so if that's the case feel free to hit me up when it's over!
I'm awful at lineart so that's fair, I'll probably take a different approach to lining one way or another next comic, we'll see how it goes.
I wanna focus more on a the story and writing a little next time, for this I basically just made a premise then had them beat the snot out of each other for a few pages. Hopefully it goes well!

@rittzler: OMG I NEED TO FIGHT NAVY *cough* Okay, your comic was really fun to read. I love the way you drew the characters, your coloring gave it a nice complete feel, and your panels were really dynamic and well constructed. I do feel like a lot of your line work and sound effects felt kind of rough, and I could have gone for more attention to backgrounds, but overall this was just so much fun to read and I can't wait for more! <3
@The Man Who Planted Swag: I really love your style! Line work is clean, characters are cute and fun, and there's a lot of drama in your action scenes. My main critique on this one is to give a little more detail to your backgrounds. It can do so much to add to the mood and the feeling of actually "being there" rather than just looking at words and pictures.
Good luck, you two! I wish you could both go on to the next round, but I expect to see more from both of you either way!

Super Quick Crit!
rittzler: Your action poses are awesome! They're super fluid and quite actiony! Your static poses however, are very stiff. If you could apply the same fluidity of your action poses to your static ones, your comics are going to be that more amazing!
The Man Who Planted Swag
This is freaking fantastic for a one weeker! Nice little story, colors, and cute ending! My biiiggeest gripe would be your font choice. You definitely need a better one to mesh with your art better and perhaps reduce the font size as well. Also spell check.
Great entries guys!!

@rittzer; Nice job on this I really like your paneling in this it feels very dynamic and lively. A little bit more definition to the backgrounds would have helped you I think. While I am a big fan of your paneling on the second and fourth page it feels quite blank in sections.
@The Man Who Planted Swag; Its awesome that you got so much done in the time period you have! Your backgrounds are looking pretty neat and mesh well with your characters. There are a few frames where the backdrop is completely white which feels odd against the bright colts of the rest of the comic. Your effects are one of my favorite things about your comic they are very fluid and I can easily see it animated in my mind.

@Inksword : Ya I definitely need to be more aware of text bubble placement in the future. I actually am an animator (lol) so transitioning from full screen to panels is a bit challenging. I really appreciate the feedback!

You both had a similar concept for how your characters met so it was really fun to see where you each took it, and you each took it to a cool action scene!
@rittzer: Your action is really dynamic! You could do with just a smiiiidge more backgrounds to give em weight, and it woudl make it even better if you got to show some aftermath on the world around them yeah?
@TMWPS: Are you an effects animator? Those explosions/beams are sexy AF. This is really nicely finished and colored, I'd just pay a little more attention to word bubble placement. I read them in the wrong order a few places when they were too far apart on either side for me to bounce back and forth on!
GREAT JOB BOTH OF YOU. This might just be my favorite matchup of the first round!

Rittzler very nice action scene, which really could be all you need for a round .w.
Swagfarmer I love how polished it all is, especially considering all the pages you've cranked out
