@adam: DO IT, we can do crazy moby dick style battles!!!

@Puzzlething: thank you so much for the feedback! i'm definitely experimenting a lot with coloring; i haven't found a style i'm really in love with yet but i think page 1 was definitely the closest i've come. for my upcoming battle i'm thinking about playing around with a more painterly approach, can't wait to see what you think.

I think the first page is just more interesting because you press really hard into the blue tones, and way less into coloured shadows on your surface pages. It's just a really striking look.

Watch your forms, Fee gets a little squishy and flat sometimes, like her hand on the second page and the shot from behind her on the third. Just make sure your forms are strong before you start fleshing everything out and it should totally be fine.

If you're going to cell-shade stuff, you have to treat the edges of your light and shadow shapes as carefully as you'd treat the outlines of your character. Every small alteration in the edges suggests variation in shape and texture of the object underneath.

The little mermaid joke at the beginning is great, and I really like the interesting stuff you're trying out with texture and rendering.  I definitely love that first page, it's so soft and dark. It's a great entrance dude, welcome to void!

Very nice! Getting a mermaid around a city alone is gonna be a fun time! But very cool (gonna need to make me a fisherman character lol)

@PyrasTerran- thanks! maybe i should do a beyond battle where fee gets a cholesterol test hehe

@Animeshen- thank you! mermaids are the best, especially weird flesh eating ones woop! i totally see what you mean about the colors, i think i just naturally tend to be attracted to more desaturated tones? maybe? i think next time i'll work on the pages in spreads do make sure there aren't inconsistencies like that

nice character! I LOVE MERMAIDS I was seriously thinking of entering one myself XD I really like your colours on the first page, though after that when she surfaces they seem... maybe a little desaturated? or something? but I get a good feel for your character, like if I had to battle her now on just this info I could probably make a fairly decent comic. Nice work! Hope to see you battle soon!
