The video was wicked, but I don't care much for the song. I am not fond of that strange 'horn' sounding synth they've been using a lot of lately. They used it in Doncamatic too, but it wasn't too bad there in the end because that song actually had a melody. DoYaThing to me just seems haphazardly put together and doesn't really flow that well. It just feels empty compared to some of their earlier stuff. The songs all seem to be missing...something.
Feel Good Inc to just kinda illustrate my point. The drums are punchy and full, the song has a decent amount of bass, and a lot of little things going on in the background to keep a listener invested. There is a lot more instruments being used and it has a great melody.
The video though is pretty sick for DoYaThing , I enjoyed that part haha. It is strange to me still seeing them in 3D but it's all good. Not trying to rail on Gorillaz, it's just I haven't been satisfied with them much as of late since it seems their music is devolving a bit rather than progressively changing like they used to.
