After seeing the retrospective article on Kotaku, I'm starting to re-listen to the Homeworld Soundtrack.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIUxwEJ-GXI

Adagio for Strings (Agnus Dei) is a re-occurring song throughout the game. The rest of the songs are ambient/instrumental, and Yes did the end credits song. Also the game and soundtrack has this subtle Arabic influence to it.

Recommended for all RTS hardcore, Relic fans, plus anyone who likes to see minimalist storytelling done right. Incidentally, the art direction is heavily inspired by Chris Foss.

Intro bit because it's cool:

As a lot of you that I talk to on VoidChat are aware, my favourite band of all time is Gorillaz. And today they released a new music video to "DoYaThing"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNeF30RverQ&feature=channel_video_title

Very peculiar in the way music video goes really, but for someone like me who follows the story arc of the characters as well as the music, my face was pretty much glued to the screen.

Took me a while to get used to the band being in 3D since the release of Stylo a couple of years back, but I'm pretty much for it now. Hoooray.

The video was wicked, but I don't care much for the song. I am not fond of that strange 'horn' sounding synth they've been using a lot of lately. They used it in Doncamatic too, but it wasn't too bad there in the end because that song actually had a melody. DoYaThing to me just seems haphazardly put together and doesn't really flow that well. It just feels empty compared to some of their earlier stuff. The songs all seem to be missing...something.

Feel Good Inc to just kinda illustrate my point. The drums are punchy and full, the song has a decent amount of bass, and a lot of little things going on in the background to keep a listener invested. There is a lot more instruments being used and it has a great melody.

The video though is pretty sick for DoYaThing , I enjoyed that part haha. It is strange to me still seeing them in 3D but it's all good. Not trying to rail on Gorillaz, it's just I haven't been satisfied with them much as of late since it seems their music is devolving a bit rather than progressively changing like they used to.

Anyway, been listening to Quarashi - "Stick 'Em Up"

Clams Casino. His Instrumental Mixtape is a nice way to get lost in drawing.
Also Spoek Mathambo, because Township Tech's my new favorite genre. Gothy African electrodub? What's not to like?

Oh, I like the majority of Plastic Beach. However I prefer The Fall over it. It's just these standalone collab tracks that seem so...lacking. To me they just don't stand up to the bands previous material really. Feels like its lacking passion.

Anything below the 1950's I simply listen with gusto. Currently hunting LP records of Ray Noble and AL Bowlly... so if you have them, do tell.

are the specific songs I'm listening to most today.

I was listening to some Bloc Party right now actually. Most of the time I could listen to The Used though. I got into alternative a couple years back and it's purty sweet
