Hello everyone, I'm completely new to EnterVoid, but I've had experience with comic battles on another site years ago ( War for Arcadia ). I've read through the rules here, but I'm a little unclear on the format of how battles take place. I can tell that there's a predetermined time limit, but I'm used to the format where artists take turns posting their comics in one week intervals over a month (i.e. me, then my oponent, then me, then my oponent) then voting occurs. It's unclear to me how this works here. Do artists just collaborate on a story at the start and then create both their comics in the same window of time? In the format I listed before there was a lot more mystery surrounding what story an opponent would deliver and would require fast thinking before starting another week.
Thanks for your time. I look forward to creating art with all of you!
Hey Mayhem!! Welcome to Void!!
On here our battles take place a bit differently than both of your statements, albeit the latter can be done for collabs, but you're talking about battles. On Void, both artists work on their side of the battle simultaneously, both creating their own story with no knowledge of the opponent's story. The comics don't have to be in a "this then that" format, as with the way they do it here they try to allow each fighter to form their own narrative. For example, you could battle someone, and their comic could be about the characters becoming friends, while yours was about defeating their character in battle. When a battle finishes each person can choose what they want to take canon out of the events (unless its a scar match or death match) and then move on.
Does that make sense the way I explained it?
I hope you have a wonderful stay btw! If you have more questions or that wasnt clear enough, I highly recommend scrolling down to the 'follow us' section of the site, and peek into the discord chat to more directly converse with people and to be able to phrase questions easier!
