I'd say that having Corny in The Shining makes it even more terrifying.

Heeyyyyyy. This looks like a good time. I haven't been around in forever and ever, but I'll be watching the heck out of this.

Read the description of Brownstone thinking it was going to be a sad fairytale setting this year, and was horrified/delighted by the actual situation.

I wonder who and under what condition will pick defenders.
I know that they should represent a certain level of art, and storytelling, but what about character's potential.
I have some good ideas for this one and if I were not be chosen I'd still make a BB about this event - though it won't have any effect on victory or lose.

We throw all the applicants' names into a hat. :D

Really, there's a lot of discussion about who works well with who, how consistent submissions have been (both for regular battles and previous special events), and that sort of stuff. Basically, we're looking for who has the best chance of making good comics, similar to how we've selected for other major events.

Glad to hear that you'll haev a BB on the way, I'm looking forward to it!

Why does this event pop up when I'm about to plunge into exams and crap!?

Yeah, no, I don't know. Maybe.

The hat thing was done for Scarmageddon, but it was only to split all participating into two groups - this time it's serious shi't Oo

As for my standard of art and submission - it's ever improving. I don't default, and I have much more time now.

The BB motive is something that could grow into something bigger if Awesome were to be part of Armageddon, but it has to be done anyway. Awesome's current state is perfect for such fucked up relationship that princess and beast have - he could consult them as therapist with his first or something XD (Won't spoil you)

There's lots of things we look for. Since this is a collab event we're especially looking at willingness to work in a group and if the group will get along. We want a group that will have chemistry and not people that are likely to be "my way or the highway". Quality of work, record, activity on the site, and such are of course also factors.

I'm pretty sure each council member is going to pick based on slightly different criteria, but the above is pretty close to what most of us look for. It's not set in stone since we don't really have a list to check off from when we make our choices.

To my knowledge, one's character has never been taken into consideration when selecting artists for an event.  Characters are just the bullets we fire through weaponized comic guns to combat one another.

In this particular instance, a lot of attention is being paid to which artists will work well together, moreso than anytime previously, in an attempt to side-step issues we've experienced in past Armageddons.  Angie's post sums it up nicely

Sorry to hear you are dropping out Carlito. And Thanks for the info on the selection process... this would be awesome if i could get in, but if not - no hurt feelings here. We will keep trucking along.

Again, remember if you don't get in you can still incorporate Arma into your battles if you still want to kind of experience it! It makes the whole event feel more epic and exciting when everyone gets involved

I wish I had read this line two days ago, when I was trying to explain the VOID to a scriptwriting friend of mine.
Characters are just the bullets we fire through weaponized comic guns to combat one another.
... I like the visual.

I'm really looking forward to reading the submissions this year, BBs and otherwise. I love the theme, and I can't wait to see what you folks can weave with it.
God, I love these big fancy events. Ya'll seem to pull them off with such aplomb.
