RIDGE-LINE [new page! 11/4/09]
« on: Oct 22, 2009, 10:02 PM »

I'm making the first part of a comic/project for my art club.

If it goes right everyone is going to do a little bit of the story and pass it off to someone else like a campfire story.

I have a general idea for the overall plot of the story but if  the club decides to follow along, I think it it'll be
better if each contributor moves the story in the direction they think it should go.

Almost done with the colors on the next page and the third page is still being inked.

So far so good! Are they speaking in a Jamaican accent? That's the only thing I could think of from the text.

Keep practicing and tightening up those markers, I think you could spend a bit more time on your backgrounds as well.

Keep it up, let's see more!

Got a little brave with the markers on this one. Didn't bungle it up too bad.

This is really the first time I've fiddled with real mediums past pencils. I's super fun don't get me wrong, but I still think I'd
rather use a tablet if I'm going to do this regularly.

Moving along at a brisk pace none-the-less.

Yays!

Took a while to do this one, couldn't get my hands on the markers I've been using from art class.
Can't find them ANYWHERE.

characterisation here works amazingly, you might wanna consider doing all caps ?

I had trouble reading the text. People shouldn't even be thinking about text, thats how readable they have to be.

ROFL.

I actually made that text from my own handwriting, even at it's neatest it's atrocious.

And thanks about the comment, honestly I have no idea what I'm doing technique-wise.

EDIT: I made a font using a program, that's not lettering per-say, I'd have to deal with my hand-writing
in general before I'd even consider doing my own lettering.

That would be torture for anyone who'd like to read it.

I'll definitely look into making a better one by the time I start comics in this community

yes, handwritten is the way to go, but lettering is an art of its own that you must pay special attention to.

Readable, streamlined. That's the standard.

Now give it a shot.
