Couldn’t find questions about this in the FAQ so I hope they’re okay to post! I was wondering:

1) The old FAQ said intro comics won’t be accepted if they’re the incorrect size, but what IS the correct size? I can’t find listed dimensions anywhere aside from the “character sheet should be 1000 px wide”.

2) What is defined as sloppy for traditional comics? I have only managed to glean quality level from digital. Currently I’m dealing with nerve inflammation in my dominant hand and a dying computer, so I don’t think I can manage lining a whole comic digitally but I still want to take part! If I submitted a scanned comic that had cleanly drawn boxes and no construction lines, but with characters a little shaky around the edges, would this be considered too rough or “sloppy”?

Hey, glad to see you back!
1000 Pixels wide is a suggested standard. There no "real" size limit- we've had infinite canvas type comics that scroll straight down, straight up, sideways, and even in a choose-your-own-adventure puzzle map. The only thing we really want is that if its all meant to fit on a page, it fits on the page. the Void uploader does not automatically resize images so if you draw 3,000 x 5,000 at 600 dpi, buddy youre gonna have a bad time lol.
For traditional, we just want as clean as you can get. No pencil lines, no construction lines, neat handwriting- but if you smear a line here or there, we won't dock points. we're here to judge your storytelling abilities, not the steadiness of your hand~

Sloppy is going to be a subjective thing. There's some people (although not on this site) that have wobbly lines as part of their style. (backgrounds in urahara comic)
one of the better comics i've done on this site (traditionally) had intentionally irregular borders to mimic the shapes of mirrors and shards.
I'm bringing these things up because I think its more important for you to tell your story than to make a perfect rectangle.
I usually scan my comics at high resolutions (at least 300dpi) and then when i export them from editing, i shrink them to somewhere between 800px width or 1000px width. The height doesn't really matter after that.

Whatever you do, do it with love and own it. I'm sure it will be wonderful, and I'm excited to see your work!

Thank you both for your advice! I've tossed my character into the incubator now, to be safe I scanned it at 300dpi and kept it below 1000px wide. Hopefully it'll be up to scratch ;u;
