The site is moving insanely slow the past few days. I know it's not just me. It's making it hard to look at anything on the site.

It's not just you. I'll click a link, walk away, do something else, come back & MAYBE the site's loaded after like three minutes or so. It's a bummer. I've noticed it doing something a bit similar before weeks ago, but only for like a day or so. At the time, I just wrote it off as the site was getting worked on I think. But it's worse this time around.

EDIT: And I've noticed it on both my work mac (firefox, but just now gave safari a whirl & same diff) & my phone.

Not my fault. Him posting nonsense is what picked any fight. And it's never a joke if it has to be explained.
I kept having to see that bullshit & after a bunch of recent articles about how shitty the dude was, that's what it kept making me think.

Bent, I figured you'd doubledown some how. You're pretty obnoxious in that way (& still kinda condoning racism it seems). The only surprising part is that you were actually able to follow through & finish something. Now if only it were something that mattered.

So I fell really far behind sketching concepts I liked, getting way too involved before even starting the inking. Then I got caught up on the foreground on this one. I overworked the grass but otherwise I like that part. The background was all done with a brushpen. I fucked up the giant’s arm. I also wanted to go & kind of blend him into clouds overhead, make him look more ethereal & less obvious but I was already spending way, way too much time. More as I play catch up.

It's from Jake Parker's site. As far as the formatting of some of these silly community things can go, the templates he's got up are pretty nice for presentation purposes.

You seem pretty capable artistically, but I dunno. Something about these pages is coming off as stilted & flat to me.

Firstly, real quick, it's a little weird that the balloons' cursors just kind of point in the general vicinity of the person & not their mouths. Like that third panel (which feels too tight compositionally &/or too big on the page if all you're trying to show is the choke), it's pointing at her knuckles/sternum. Just comes off as strange & makes things slightly less clear, especially in a panel where you're in so tight & cropping faces out.

But I dunno the whole staging of this situation feels strange. Like I saw the roughs & thought she was up against a wall getting attacked. But now it looks like this guy catches her & is just deadlifting her in a chokehold in the middle of this alley? Like her knees are then at face level, she can just bash him in the face with her knee cap or reel up for a boot. Why a singlehanded chokehold? He's angry at her? Then why not speed up the process with two hands? Beyond all that, it just seems like an awkward approach if he's concerned with getting his wallet back. Why does he need to lift her? Why isn't he just going for the wallet? So she's transforming (by apparently touching something but it's not clear what)  & at the same time reeling in to do this Lei Wulong/Jackie Chan flip off his rib cage. That's fine. But she's grabbing the pony tail from behind his head, springboarding, & yet still able to rip the pony tail off all in one motion, throwing him backwards? Those physics don't feel like they line up. Or if they do, that guy's neck snaps at the same time. Or she pulls straight up & the guy's doubled over with his head down, not flung back like in that other panel. Like at the moment, the hair's in her right hand but his reeling in that same direction instead of reacting from the force of the pull. It doesn't make sense to me. Am I missing something?

Can't speak towards any slight differences between the programs, but MS5 worked fine out the box & I went to town tweaking the brushes to exactly where I needed them. Are your drivers & everything up to date? If no, then get to work on fixing that first. It could be a number of things but you're not really giving a lot of details so try that.

this was well fuckin' needed. nice job!

personally, i'm not big on the dimpled/wavy edges thing so much but that's a stylistic thing. I like to start with an ellipse but tweak the path in order to square it off a little to fit the words properly & consistently, rather than just keep it a dumb oval.

If I'm being honest, this character feels pretty bland to me. like his look, his jerkiness, it just kind of feels generic & a little lacking. I mean he's pretty much just a dude with shaggy hair in a t-shirt & pants. What else can you do to make him more unique/intriguing? The water power's neat & all but it's not much of a hook. For me anyway.

Same with what I can make out of the comic so far too. I get the camera pov thing & realize a lot of things are set to have it sit at a certain angle, but it's all feeling very same-y since he's fairly static, & all the panels are drawn the same way. I had an idea for doing a similar thing with intro pages for a character i still may or may not do involving it was a character filming them self. The solution I had to reduce the redundancy of the angles & vary things up was to actually have the character hold the camera, not keep it locked off. Even if you had him do it after having it on the ground when he's a puddle. Which, btw, how does it zoom? Anyway, that way too, you can have him show us things from that perspective instead of suddenly cutting from that view & expecting the reader to just follow a sudden omniscient perspective. I mean the intro's only 4 pages. Why not just keep that happening?

With your poses, in order to add some more dynamics to your poses, I think you ought to pay attention to how your character's weighted. Like in the two pictures here, he's standing with his knees bent in a way that makes his feet feel floaty. Sketch out the figure in full but have a good idea on where the ground's going to fall rather than drawing the body & then just assuming where his feet end is where the floor ends up being. Once they're firmly planted think about how he carries himself. Is there a lean to it? Add as much as you want so long as it manages some semblance of balance. To do that, a lot of cartoonists base their character's postures on an 's' curve. Head & neck slope forward ever so slightly before going back into the shoulders. They slope out into the torso & hips before slowly retreating back to where the feet are eventually planted. Adding that helps take stiffness away.

Here's an update as I've started coloring that page. I like how the effects turned out, but there's more to do yet.

Everything about the bad guys and their cult was so well done. The War Boys tear-assing around, lancing shit and jumping from car to car was such fascinating physicality.

Yeah a lot of it's basically a pirate movie more than anything really. I mean so much of it's swinging or jumping & a lot of the fighting's tight quarters. Some Errol Flynn shit.

I love how much thought they poured into the small details, like the salute representing a V8 engine & the diagram style scarification & the rarity of shininess in the dusty wastes is what makes it so sacred to them; only to then just have it all as background dressing to a killer fucking action movie. That's the way you're supposed to worldbuild.

Here's another thing that came to mind. Spoiler alert- It's the final fight from the second Raid movie.

BUT, if you look, it's a side by side comparison of the two main choreographers practicing the actions of the fight in real time, & if you notice, the shots line up almost precisely as well. Basically, if you think about it, the camera's almost acting as a third guy in the fight, moving with the action, & I think it's a good way to think about how to frame & pace a fight for a story. Now, the speed & rate at just how much they're doing in this video would be crazy to try in a comic, but it's the best example I've got at the moment. Not just "he punches, the other guy spins to avoid, & straight up bootkicks him" but "as he punches, camera picks it up from over his shoulder, camera moves for bird's eye to catch the punch whiffing & show the other guy's rotation as he winds for kick, wide panel to show impact of landed bootkick" And in a comic, while actual camera moves like pans, dollies, & zooms are out, remember the shape of the frame can vary for whatever you need & also help to really push that idea of motion.

I'm at work so I can't read the article, but a great comic that puts on a fuckin' clinic about fight choreography is Jazz Maynard. I think the creators are from Spain but the books are published in France. I think everyone's pretty spot on by calling it pretty Cowboy Bebop-esque, just without the whole being in space part. Probably a little hard to come by but definitely worth the effort to track down. Check out this progression right here. One of my favorite examples:

I was toying in the sketch with the mummy wearing more Incan style clothes over top of his space suit but figured it was a little awkward. Like Superman's external underwear. That & trying to keep the silhouette in the shape of the geoglyph. Probably could've given him some more jewelry though. Definitely hear you on the beige in the stockings. I had a little more & it seemed to desaturate when I tried adding texture. I should've went back but I was already spending way more time than I was looking to. Ultimately though I think the posing & the positioning of the arms are really what makes it fall flat on its face though. Would've helped with the curves & gotten the idea of the arms across better at the same time. I can see what you mean with contouring being part of it.
