spit spat, time to chat / West Coast Cons
« on: Dec 23, 2014, 08:47 PM »
Yooooo 2015 is almost here and convention season isn't too far away! I'm based in Portland now, and while I don't have too much money, I'm wanting to get out there and start tabling more cons on the West Coast. I know a lot of Voiders are out here, so I'd like to set up a thread where we talk about cons we're tabling and see who wants to join forces.

Now that I'm (kinda) settle into Portland, I wanna get a tally of Voiders living near me. Who else is in my neck of the woods?

Art Jams / Mardi Gras Jam!

Yes folks, it's time for loud parties, heaps of gumbo, buckets of booze, and more beads than Leland can handle.

It's Fat Tuesday, AKA Mardi Gras! Draw your characters enjoying (or simply enduring) the festivities any way they see fit.

That's right folks, it's time to rev your engines and put the pedal to the metal. It's all about vehicles in here. Cars, planes, boats, anything with an engine is fair game. To start, here's Wizzie and her sweet new ride.

All right, folks, since I've been kicking around this idea for a while, I figure now would be as good of a time as any to post about it. I'm wanting to start a comic mastercopy jam- in short, all participants would be asked to find the current artist of the week (or month, haven't decided yet) and do their best to emulate a single page or strip of their work, as well as engage in a group discussion picking apart the artist's style and technique. So far, I have a couple of artists that I feel would be great to study:

-Bill Watterson
-Akira Toriyama
-Eiichiro Oda
-Will Eisner
-Jeff Smith

A mix of American, Euro, manga, and everything in between would be fantastic. The main purpose behind this jam is to expose yourself to a variety of different visual styles and also examine what sort of tricks the greats used for their own work that can be used independent of their 'look' (i.e. panel composition, lighting, rendering, anatomy, etc.).

I'd like to know who all would be interested in doing this, as well as what artists we should choose for our initial line-up. In my opinion, an artist of the week would allow for more variety, but doing it monthly would allow for a more in-depth analysis and also afford more time for those of us who are running hectic schedules. What say ye, Void? Are you up for the challenge?

GO FOR BROKE! / Brian 'Zesty' Wolf's Art
« on: Mar 04, 2010, 12:56 PM »
Hello all! I'm Brian, AKA Theo or AmanitaZest- whichever name you prefer. I like drawing comics and cartoony junk, and have been doing so for most of my life. I heard about EnterVoid through ZsaBreuser and SpeedKing, and I'm eager to see more of the community here and (of course) make comics! Here's some of my latest pieces.

Lately I've been experimenting more with colors and odd combinations. I was inspired after poring over a collection of old Hanna-Barbera backgrounds to try and be bolder with my choices, so this was one of my first attempts.

This is the iD for my DeviantArt page and another color experiment- I noticed that a lot of the coolest backgrounds I saw had lots of neutral colors, so I wanted to see if I could get away with that.

Concept art for a character I want to enter in Void. I've got a couple other projects I wanna work on first though, so I don't know how long it'll be before I set up a proper thread for him.
