The design sheet is fine (although I am having trouble understanding whats going on in the upper right?).

« on: Jun 30, 2019, 04:54 PM »
Hi, online I go by Hana!  My mom is an old vet here lol.
O awesome welcome to void, a lot of the social activity is on the discord now. Also which characters did your mother have and are are you having any specific plans for a character to submit?

My Mom's main character was Eighty-eight.  I've got a few ideas for a character already.  I should be able to submit one to the incubator soon.

Oh my god, this is amazing, I don't think we've ever had a parent and child participate on the site. This makes me feel a little old too, lol. Welcome!!!

News & Events / Looking for some new Think Tanks!
« on: Oct 10, 2018, 08:24 AM »
Do you have thoughts and feelings about VOID? Do you have big ideas? Do you want to want to want to help shape the future of VOID by contributing your opinions? Do you want to scream directly at the VOID instead of screaming into an empty void?
Well, consider applying for......
You duties will include: Bringing new ideas to the table, contributing your opinions on new things, coming up with solutions to problems. I may also ask for help with minor tasks that I expect you to at least help with a little such as helping debug or test new features. I need people with various opinions that aren't afraid to have discussions and disagreements.

I'm not sure exactly how many we will accept at this time, but we will make our choices based on how we see you interact with the community and what we think you can contribute. Think tanks were always intended to be a rotating cast, so we are need some fresh blood.

If you'd like to apply, you can email staff @ or just message me directly here or on discord if you're interested.

To all participants:

Since we had a double default in round 1, the numbers going forward will be a little weird due to the odd number.

Round 2 will now have to have one 3-way battle. The final round will also have a 3-way battle. Who is in the 3-way battle will be randomized, to keep it fair.
If you think you will have trouble continuing in round 2 for any reason, you may drop out now. I don't want anyone to drop out, but if something catastrophic has come up and you'd like to drop out, it would eliminate the 3-way battle in round 2, but we'd still end up with a 3-way finale. Let me know!

« on: Jul 09, 2018, 10:24 AM »
Just reminding everyone that the first round is due TONIGHT. Remember the rules so that everything goes smoothly for you!

1. Submissions must be COMICS (no text excuse pages or just cover images)
2. You must include your character and your opponent's character!
3. You must submit BEFORE THE DEADLINE!
4. If you are having trouble, email pages to STAFF@enterVOID.COM BEFORE THE DEADLINE!
5. DOUBLE CHECK IMAGE SIZES! Try to make images about 1000px wide at most so that they can be viewed online easily!

Waiting until the last second is not advised!

The Mister Satisfied account is deleted now.

Hey dude, why are you posting on a new account? If you lost access to your original account, can you just email and we can try to get that sorted out for you.

Sign me up!.. Or down.

I might have to update some of that shite and take a tour of the site.

I did what i can to notify the council, to no avail and with the start of this tourny closing in i'm getting a lil worried. Can you please delete Mister Satisfied's account? Its preventing me from changing my name, which i'd like to use.

I don't think they're too complex, pick whichever one you enjoy drawing the most. And yeah we do need to see some human anatomy.
You can take a look here for some resources
Specifically: if you want some resources and places to practice.

Help / How tournament rosters are decided
« on: May 09, 2018, 01:39 PM »
Some of you probably have wondered about how tournament rosters are decided when cuts need to be made. Sometimes there are only a set amount of slots for participants, meaning that a few people need to be cut from participating. Nothing in particular brought this on, I just want to be as transparent as possible.

First things first, these are incredibly difficult choices that we do not take lightly. We want to make VOID as fair as possible and part of that is having to make some tough calls. I can say with a lot of certainty that there is no personal bias. I am really proud of the current staff’s ability to look at things objectively. Also, there is NO bias towards staff members. They are judged exactly the same as other members.

We are going to start making sure that there is a day, or two, buffer period between tournament sign ups and the start date of a tournament. This will ensure we will have enough time for lengthy discussions and research.

Cuts to tournaments are decided by votes from the staff members. The person, or people, with the most votes gets cut from the tournament.
How we decide who to vote for is determined by many factors. A very important factor is recent performance. If you defaulted recently, that is a strike against you. If you turned in something unfinished recently, that is also a strike against you. The best way to get into a tournament is to show an amazing track record.

We also take past tournament participation into consideration. You may have noticed that this year we have been running more tournaments than usual. We don’t expect each person to participate in every single tournament. If you had a good run in the past couple of tournaments, we might think it’s fair to let someone else have a shot. We also take new members into consideration. A brand new member might get in over a seasoned vet, just so that they are able to get into VOID and see what tournaments are like. Each tournament is unique.

The VOID staff has diverse opinions, and it is like that for a reason. We all listen to the reasons behind each person’s choice before making a selection. These debates can last hours, especially when there are no clear choices on who to pick. Sometimes, we have to cut good members. It’s not easy at all, and again, we don’t take it lightly at all. There is no clear-cut or formulaic way to make these choices, so we have to rely on the data we have from the site, weigh the pros and cons of each choice, and come to the conclusion that we think is best. In the extremely rare case where no choice can be made, it will be up to the council to choose (this has not happened in recent memory.)

I hope this helps everyone understand the process a little more and please let me know if you have any questions.

This is the most cursed and also blessed image of all time.

Neens, I hope you like it! This was super fun to draw and also I now know I am never battling Somadis under any circumstances lol.

Well this doesn’t look constructive. I read the comments on your battle and I don’t consider any of them to be out of line. You made the choice yourself to, in your own words, “fart this out” and upload it. I’m really not sure why you thought you only had two hours to work on it. If you set up the B.B. in error, we could have easily extended the deadline to whatever time you needed to make this complete. I don’t really know what else to say here, but making these kinds of salty posts really isn’t acceptable. You received honest feedback.

« on: Feb 21, 2018, 11:34 AM »
The matches are now up! As you might have noticed, we had to cut the roster down to 8. We had a very lengthy discussion about this and just wanted to say that it's never easy to make cuts. We don't take these decisions lightly. BUT, we want you all to know that you do not need to be in this tournament to make a joint character. You can make a jointly owned collab character at anytime. Good luck to all of the participants.

Whoa, huge turn out! Ok, I will be sending you a random person though PM.
Remember that you can draw ANY of your characters on a date with ANY of theirs. It's all up to you.

OMG! I love it!

Hellis, you're up next - you can go off of Corn's drawing.

Art Jams / Evolution Jam 2018
« on: Feb 12, 2018, 08:15 PM »
Pretty simple - I drew a creature, and the next person draws the creature, but evolved a bit a few thousand years later. Maybe it grows wings, maybe it loses it's stupid arms, maybe it decides to eat meat and turns into a predator? It's up to you.

1. The point is to evolve slowly, do NOT make huge jumps! Make small steps so we can develop this creature together over many drawings.
2. Sign up and draw quickly. When it's your turn, please turn in a drawing within a few days. If you want to shuffle or trade your place in line, just let us know.
3. Keep it somewhat realistic please. Don't add like, laserbeam eyes or chainsaw hands.
4. Optional but strongly suggested - add some flavor text to your drawing! It will help the next person in line See below.

Our creature is about 12" high, and covered with feathers. It spends a lot of time in shallow water. It's long legs keep most of it's body dry. It likes to keep it's head up to catch falling debris from the forest above. It mainly eats bugs and vegetables. It is pretty vulnerable to predators, so it tends to lay a ridiculous amount of eggs to keep it's population from dwindling.

Sign up below! First person to post can start drawing right away.

Art Jams / Blind Date Jam
« on: Feb 12, 2018, 07:35 PM »
This is going to be a little different from some other jams. It will be like a micro tournament, except just for fun.

Sign up here - You have until February 14th - AKA Valentines day.

On that fateful day, I will assign you another person. You will then draw ANY of your characters, dead or alive, with ANY of your assigned person's characters on a blind date. Make it as romantic or as awful as you want!

This is just an art jam, we won't upload these to the site. Suggested length is 1-2 pages, but you can do more if you feel inspired. Put in as much effort as you'd like/have time for. Post the comics here when completed, there's no real deadline but try to have them completed within the week so we are still in that Valentine's day spirit.

THE INCUBATOR / Re: PailKnight Characters
« on: Feb 05, 2018, 09:27 AM »
Your art is super adorable! I can't wait to see your comics.

I don't know if it bothers you or not, but we have a character called Marigold already;id=1940 You can still call her Marigold, I just wanted to point it out just in case. This Marigold is inactive so they probably wouldn't get mixed up tbh.

Void history? So, there is no canon in VOID at all. Simply shared stories and plots that some people like to use. Void City is a common setting, but it's not a requirement to use it in your comics. But also check out since you're new, and please feel free to ask us any other questions you have!

Sorry guys, I gotta drop out :( just got confirmation that it would be too much pressure for me to draw with the little amount of free time I have that week.

But! Ripley has really grown on me so I'll make some pages later to introduce them as a regular character instead <3

News & Events / VOID Rules update 2018
« on: Jan 03, 2018, 08:16 PM »

We did a little refresh to Void's core rules. Nothing major has changed, but I'll go over what is different. This was to address some recent things that came up, and some questions that people had asked me recently. Most of these are the same or the wording has been changed slightly. I want to emphasize that these rules are here to keep void fair. We have to add additional rules when new circumstances arise. No one will be retroactively punished for anything. The VAST majority of Void's members don't need to worry. We are closing some loopholes and clarifying things and that will hopefully help answer some of the questions I've been asked recently. Again - if you aren't trying to pull anything shady then you don't need to worry. But these rules need to be there to keep competition fair. Rules now also list consequences for breaking them.  Here are some highlights if you don't want to read everything:
Here are some highlights if you don't want to read everything:

Rule 1 clarifies that you do NOT need to draw every character in a non-death match. You are now required to draw ALL characters, including your own, in death matches.

Rule 3 clarifies WHO you must kill or scar when multiple characters are involved

Rule 5 expands upon comic deadline rules

Creating additional accounts, or urging others to join the site specifically to vote on your comics is prohibited.
Action taken for breaking this rule: If you are found manipulating votes, you will be banned from participating in battles for 3 months. Multiple offenses will result in a perma-ban.

NEW Rule 10
Characters that have lost a scar match cannot enter another battle until their design sheet has been updated to reflect the new changes.
You are expected to draw your character as they appear on their design sheet post-scar. While failure to draw a scar in a match is not considered a default, it is considered bad sportsmanship. Unwillingness to draw your character with the scar will have a negative impact on your chances of getting into tournaments that involve scars and will reflect negatively on yourself in the community.

NEW Rule 14
Tracing art is not allowed. You cannot trace art from sources that you did not create yourself. Using reference is allowed, blatant tracing and copying is not.
Action taken for breaking this rule: If you are caught tracing, your comic will be taken down and considered a default. You will be banned from battling for a period of time determined by the council – minimum of 1 month. Repeat offenders will be perma-banned from battling
Please please ask questions if anything is not clear

Curious on how you would make an entire comic like that - especially how would you depict your opponent properly?

I'm WORKING on an idea. I've lurked forever. Their name is Charkley. They're a Meme Genie.

I cannot draw, but I like messing with photos. I will try to make a comic. It is hard.
