PITA- I'll second and third the use of colored backgrounds as a 'ehh'. I understand the strain of time, but we're getting a peek in the famous Merry Softshoe's digs. I would've loved to have seen more of the joint and gotten a feel of his personality. I think adding such a narcissistic shot of himself as a framed poster was cool- just wanted more.
Despite my want for environment, you didn't lack in emotionality. I think both battles seemed to hone on in pulling the feels card. Although I feel this would've had more impact if I knew who Hunter was in order to invest in this phone arguement. I had to read the other comments to realize this was something of a collab where the story continues after reading yours, but  even then I feel I'm out of the loop over this Hunter guy. Adding something establishing like a flashback may of helped.

KARMA- Ahh everyones favorite ne'er do well. Seeing these two back in action, even on something as usual as a nice night out was really enjoyable to see- even if it did have a bittersweet feel. I'm surprised you played this straight- I could see regular human characters enjoying a night out like this. I was turning pages waiting for toony highjinks on getting that phone off, but they never came. Perhaps you were trying for a more somber tone, but considering these are two toons, it took me aback.

I enjoy how these two comics tackle kind of similar topics but in very different ways!

Pita: I'm honestly on the fence about the gradient backgrounds; they're very pleasing color-wise, but they also end up kind of disengaging the characters from the space they're supposed to be occupying. Especially with the gradients constantly changing color. Though I DO really love the look of the black and white toons against very colorful surroundings!  Story-wise, I can't think of anything to critique; it's a classic moment of snapping at a friend and instantly regretting it, but it's a classic for a REASON; it works well and serves as a compelling emotional tug.

Karma: Aw man I feel so bad for Conway D: I know how it feels to have a friend be brushing you off for their phone, so this comic struck a particular emotional cord with me haha. I love your crisp lines, and the areas where you do have spot blacks are real nice--almost wish there had been a bit more of them! The only hangup I had was on page five, where it looks like Merry's figuring out what's going on thanks to the gears turning thought bubble... but then there's no follow-up on that, so it feels like a setup with no punchline almost? As far as I can tell, Merry doesn't figure out Conway shut off his phone and they just have a fun friend's night and get hammered.

Still, really great job both of you!! :D

Pita: I loved this comic, Your inks are always clean and crisp. Your colors are also really good in this and the way you use them to set the mood is fantastic here. The only sort of crit i have is since there are so many midshots you could have varied up your angles to have some more dynamism and punch up the dramatic moments. However with the colors and expressions you have there is already a good sense of expression in this.

Karma: I love the way you draw Merry and this story is a nice simple one. My favorite thing is how you show how possessive Hunter is, this is a great introduction to him just by showing his obsessive control over requiring Merry to always read his texts, it does a great job of giving him real creep vibes since that is a real habit people have and readers may have even experienced. Also I just like your line art, good job with this comic.

I am a little confused about the last page though? Was that supposed to be the penultimate page but got bumped to the back bc it wasn’t complete?

Oh shoot, yeah, looks like they uploaded out of order. :( I had them numbered and double checked, but I guess something went wrong. That last page should be page 3.

Edit: Bobo fixed it for me. Thanks Bobo~!

Aw, these were both so sweet.

Pita - Honestly I don’t have much to say. I enjoyed your comic, and I can’t think of anything to crit ;v;b On my second read I noticed panels focussing on Conway tended to have coloured backgrounds (when the sofa and stuff weren’t included), whereas Merry tended to have grey or darker backgrounds. If this was intentional, I really liked that. Influenced the mood without me even realising at first!

Karma - I LOVE Conway stealing Merry’s phone to mute it. Idk, it’s just sweet and very fitting... lowkey stealing a phone but to help a friend. And the ass slap of course was pretty funny haha. Similarly I can’t think of any crit, I am a little confused about the last page though? Was that supposed to be the penultimate page but got bumped to the back bc it wasn’t complete?

Well I came very close to finishing orz But! It's only one not fully inked page so at least it can be read.

Make sure you read Pita's half first!

Edit: tfw you submit then 1 minute after submissions close you notice a typo. Dang it!

What's better than this?  Guys bein' dudes, havin' a long-term sleepover.

Gonna drop some context links here for the newbies to better understand what the arching plot is.

First, how Toon Town got demolished.  We're gonna start with the creation of Creamimi and lead up to how that part of Void City got pummeled.

And so far the only character to address doing something about the left over land, to which this comic is a response to.
