(my fave one was Kumaru\'s, though)

Ponbiki, JinguJ, mecid, and kure ji ori, your stories were phenominal.

I thought all entries were pretty good actually real nice job guys. I\'m gonna make this pretty short though:

@ponbiki: I enjoyed the art, it felt a bit too messy here and there, but still pretty nice.  Gotta say the story just didn\'t have much too it though. (atleast not for me)


@jinguJ: your comic was pretty fun to read, I really enjoyed the story and the first pages were also very purdy~

@drawdan: Nice inks man~ story was o.k, but needed a bit more, you know?

@Mecid: You had a nice idea for the story yo, I was really liking were you were going with all this. Your pencils were also great until the last few pages. nice stuff though.

@Felony: The coloring and character art was sweet, but I didn\'t get all into the story that much. Also could of had more backgrounds.

@kumaru: man your inking was also great dude, real nice stuff you had there, got a little confused in some parts of the story, but still it was alright. :3

@powerZ: If you had this entirely inked and finished I think my vote would have went to you actually. The story was awesome if you ask me and so were the inked pages.

@Jackster: your comic was one of my favs,  great art, fun story. nuff said.

@Zsa: another one of my favs. I loved the colored pages man, the story was interesting too~

@kure: Aaaaand another person with fantastic inks~ I have no real complaints.

 

Mostly all good. I think I liked The \"Dandy Dan in africa\" story the most out of all of them.

So far this was pretty nice you guys. I\'ll go about this the normal way and try not to be as negative as I was in the BR.



Ponbiki: Awesome to see you back and in the saddle dude, but you are way rusty. Looking at your Running on Empty comic and looking at this makes me think that you could do a lot better with the time given. I did find a fucked up Nutty to be funny though seeing as how everybody automatically assumes cartoons are invincible. But like everybody else, I just couldn\'t really understand exactly what was going on, granted I know you had something planned between Ponbiki and Estrella. Still though, I really think that it is wonderful to see you fighting again, but I wanna see you tear more shit up in the future.


Jingu: Why didn\'t you start this comic up SOONER!! RAWRGH!! Seriously, I really think you could of just blown everybody here out of the water if you had actually motivated yourself here. You had one of the most entertaining stories here so far, and I loved the way you put each character into their individual roles for this completely outrageous story. But the art however is just not up to par with what I\'ve seen from ya. Please give your next battle the justice it deserves.


Drawdan: You really had some nice stuff going on here man, but really it\'s kind of a shame you had to cut it off so quickly like that. The story really suffered from that too. The art was up to your usual stuff, but I\'d like to see you really push the envelope in the future. And try to avoid team up stories dude, you\'ve done quite a few so far.


Mecid: You are also somebody whom I really wanted to see a finished comic from, mainly because of how creative this comic is, I loved seeing your take on a more \"Realistic\" void city and how it\'d effect everything else. But the only thing that\'s holding you back is the art. I really wish you would of found the extra time to put on that polish for this comic.


Fel: Not bad mang, this is the stuff I\'m more used to seeing from ya. Not as good as your fight against the Butcher though IMHO... As others have said, it\'s kinda disappointing that there was little to no backgrounds, and the story was a bit of the same ol\' same ol\' brawl til only one remains... Still a very solid entry from ya and I\'d like to see this much effort put into every battle.

Kumaru: Very nice, nice solid inks, though sometimes it was very hard to distinguish Julius from other long haired opponents. Things kinda got a bit confusing in a few places, but overall this was one of your best stories to date. Kinda wish this was done in fewer pages though since being on dial up means loading pages gets to be a real chore.


Powerz: Dude, props for doing so many pages, but seriously... lighten up on them. Know when to cut back on pages and cut back on unnecessary story when needed. If you made this a 20 page comic, you\'d have something finished from the effort you put into this. The story here was pretty unique, I was wondering when somebody would use that virus NPC, however due to the immense page count it kinda seemed to be dragged out.


Jackster: Definitely one of the stronger showings in this tourney, great art, but I think you could of done without the textures honestly. The only thing hurting ya here is that this really just doesn\'t come off as much of a parody aside from it being a huge Dark Knight reference while laying it on Dan pretty thick here, and Nutty killing almost everybody without so much as a sweat while leaving 3 opponents absent aside from a one panel cameo. And I\'m sorry to say, but I\'m with squid on this one as dialogue just seemed forced and unnatural. Some of the jokes were funny, but most of the time it was just needless Dan bashing (not that I\'m opposed to it mind you), the guy got pissed on for Christ\'s sake, let\'s leave it at that.

And that ending really did kill the rest of the story off at the end and my vote, especially since you had such build up with the cards only to leave your audience hanging on another to be continued which has me asking: \"Am I reading Clue again?\"  I know time was a key issue for most if not almost every comic here, but you could of at least gone the extra mile and did the pages you were planning instead of just copping out here. I would of gladly read the rest of this battle mang, but this is a bad habit you gotta kick. Still though, like I said before this is quite the strong showing artistically.


Zsa: One of the two comics I really can\'t decide between. I really would of loved to have seen the rest of this fight colored since they are smexy my friend. But without them it still looks rather confusing in some panels. I really liked your interpretation of other characters here, granted I think Nutty looked downright creepy being realistic and all. The story wasn\'t hard to get into like what others are thinking, although some parts just seemed to have been tacked on just to introduce the other characters. Had this of all been colored you\'d have my vote, no prob.


Kure: Nice, between Zsa, Jackster, and you this was the best finished story so far. I do think this was a bit stretched out, but I really wouldn\'t change a thing. The inks were nice and clean, and the story was just fun to get into, and robotic zombie presidents are pretty tough to beat if you want my opinion ;3. But like I said, it did seem a bit too long as what was mentioned by somebody earlier. I\'m torn between voting for you or Zsa.




I\'m really glad you guys put your best foot forward on this, but some of you should really cut back on the page counts. Keep it under 20. Most of us with dial up are already struggling to read this all ya know. Zsa, Kure, and Jackster are easily my top 3 respectively.

Ok.  It just seemed abrupt.  

My story is actually complete. I had originally scripted for about 15 pages because I had some intereraction between the main group and Pothole. But I didnt want to include any pages in any less quality that my first 8 where.  I was running short on time. I knew I would not be able to finish that part of the story and because that interaction was not nessesary to advance the story, I cut it and  wrapped the story up with the arrival of pothole. I wanted to go to color as well, but my sched did not permit it.

Ok here we go, trying to keep this quick.

Pon - ok, but it\'s obviously you ran out of time or lost interest here.  Art is up and down, and it looks unfinished.

Jinguj - It was a pretty creative story, and the art was pretty good - but really inconsistent and confusing at times. I had to reread it to make sure I had got it, but in the end it was pretty entertaining.

Drawdan - I\'m guessing that yours is incomplete - am I right?

Mecid - story was fun, but I\'m guessing you ran out of time on the artwork.

Fel - excellently consistent art, I\'m not sure if some pages are missing speech bubbles or not - if they\'re not missing any then maybe the story is just a little bit confusing, because I didn\'t seem to get it all the way through.

Kumaru - Not to insult the others, but your entry was far and away the best, without a single doubt in my mind - its simply no contest here.  You had exceptional artwork (you\'ve come a looong way since your first comic here) - and a great story.  I don\'t think the story was incoherent at all, it simply requires some knowledge of your character, and if the people reading would just look at and read your character\'s bio - they\'d probably grasp the plot perfectly.  

Powerz - why why why?  You had a good idea for a story, but it was obviously a bit overambitious for you because your pages are not finished.  Decently entertaining anyway.

Jackster - Great fun.  I enjoyed it, just wished you had wrapped it up more neatly at the end.  I know it\'s a parody so it\'s not REALLY necessary to do so, but it would have been nice.  Art was pretty good too, though I\'ll echo the previous thoughts about watching your shading.

Zsabreuser - I don\'t really know what it is, but I had a really hard time getting into this comic.  Your style is really heavy, and not all of the characters translate into it well. On the other hand the story was pretty great.

Kure - You have a knack for making easily readable comics, they basically flip through their own pages.  It was a pretty straight forward and entertaining story - and definitely one of the most original here in terms of setting and use of characters.  Definitely in my top three of the comics in RR.

Ponbiki, I really really liked the beginning but I could tell you had to rush the rest of it.

Jingu, same thing as above. I like the coloring a lot.

Drawdan, I loved being able to read an entire story with the same level of quality throughout the whole piece. I think there were only two stories that had that. I think you need to get stronger in anatomy and perspective, but other than that it was good

Felle, I like the consistancy, I still can\'t get into the anime/demon stories. I wish you could have been more dynamic with your character positioning in the action scenes

Mecid, it was nice until it fell apart at the end. I liked the start of the story.

Kumaru, ok consistency, again I hate the confusing anime story, but pretty decent action

Powerz, I would have rather seen 7 well done pages with nice backgrounds and more interesting paneling rather that 30 rushed ones.

Jackster, I liked yours the best, I didn\'t have to force myself to finish the story, I enjoyed the quality consistency though I think a little anatomy improvement couldn\'t hurt. great job.

Zsabreuser, I like yours second best, only because the story got a tiny bit stale in the middle, Gorgeous stuff. THe shadows got a little confusing in some parts, but well done.

Kure, I like the original idea of putting these characters in colonial africa.  Aside from a few anatomy/perspective problems I have no complaints. The story did get a little confusing and longwinded towards the end.

uhh somehow I forgot Jho. it\'s unfinished, I don\'t really care, it was a great story. I love your brushes, especially on page 2 :X And I was studying your panel layouts hoping to learn. so what I\'m trying to say is I liked it!

Ponbiki-You had some really great pages in here and interesting spreads, I loved the double spreads especially. But the quality was really hurting and I felt you could have really done better had you done a smaller amount of pages. The art was really nice but I had a hard time getting into the story. Obviously it wasn\'t meant to be super complex or anything but a little dialogue wouldn\'t have hurt to move the story along.

Jingu-You know, had you been able to make everything the same quality as those first pages, you would have won it for me. I really enjoyed the story and that spread of Pothole+Pink Snake from Arma was amazing and I really hope you finish that page up sometime since it was really lovely. You had some great interaction in here which really made it for me.

Drawdan-Your art was really good and on par with your usual stuff, but it sucks that you were unable to finish the story. I would have liked to see a little more from you storywise but I understand that the time limit made it hard for some people to do like super unique stories and it was entertaining for what it was.

Mecid-Your entry really surprised me. I remember checking through the uploads and it took me a minute to realize I was looking at your entry because the style was so drastically different. I thought this was a really interesting take on BR and the story was a blast. I also had fun trying to figure out who everyone was. It really sucks that you were unable to finish since this story had so much promise.

Felle-That was some of the best coloring I\'ve seen from you and you had some really solid pages in here. It does suck that backgrounds took a back seat here but I hope you focus on them again in your next battle. I would have liked to see a little more storywise but it got the job done and was mostly complete in my eyes.

Kumaru-I love your expressive lineart and this was an interesting story. I\'m glad that you took a totally different route from everyone else with your story. I keep getting more and more interested in your work with each battle I see from you and look forward to more. The scene with the beheaded kitty made me sad

Powerz-Dude, you know better than to do something crazy long! It sucks that you were unable to finish and the unfinished pages were really difficult to read for me in some areas. It took me a while to figure out what was going on in the story. I hope that you do something you can manage on your next battle.

Jackster-This entry was a blast and was one of my favorites. I liked that you went with a different approach and as usual, your style is a joy to look at. The only thing to be careful with is the toning as it got distracting in some areas and sometimes pulled away from your lovely lineart. The story was very entertaining from start to finish and this was a very solid entry.

Zsabreuser-Fuck, those first pages in color were gorgeous dude. I think you\'re getting better with your writing, it\'s not sounding as generic anime anymore which is a huge plus. I really liked your interpretations of the other characters, your Hugo and Nutty especially were awesome. I wish you would have been able to finish but what you had still looked great.

Kure-This is another favorite. I loved the story you had here and your lineart was so much more clean than I was used to seeing from you. This was a great entry and it kept me fairly entertained. You totally surprised me with the story, I really didn\'t expect something like this from you!

Anyways, I laughed the most at yours... I still think your dialogue could be a lot more natural-sounding, though. Sometimes this problem hurt your jokes a little. It always feels like you\'re trying to cram a lot of info into single sentences.

I thought Mecid\'s story was pretty brilliant, and it was executed very well. I think, if anything, it could have used something that shows the effect of all the battling and death that was mentioned near the beginning? That\'s an interesting angle and it might have been nice to have something to illustrate that. The baby kinda did, in a subtle way, but maybe something else could have really elaborated on that idea.
Also, the comic itself did feel like it could have easily gone on a while longer before Pothole threw up... but time issues and all that; maybe it was longer before, I dunno.
but yeah Mecid, yours is still one of my favorites. Nice stuff!

Kure\'s was another of my favorites, but it was pretty perfect so I don\'t have any critiques to give.
OH WAIT, sometimes the panel layout is confusing. Like page one and page three. On 3, the three panels on the top right are all the same size and shape, so it sort of makes me want to read those three top-to-bottom.
But other than that, it was pretty much A stuff, for me... I totally went, \"nooo not J.J. :C\" ...and nice ending.

Kumaru: wowww, your hatching is pretty, too. :C This was eye-candy for me, and I don\'t mean that\'s a bad thing. you took an interesting angle on some of the characters, and way to do something that most of the other battles (errr, that I\'ve read) didn\'t. it\'s got a melancholy mood that the others don\'t have, yet it\'s broken up with some funny parts and action so it doesn\'t pull you down too much. Poor kitty. :c

Z: I was more into the JJ and Pothole stuff than the side-stories, although I think breaking up the story like that was a good way to handle all of the characters.
I started to get confused when Ponbiki was batlling Pothole; not sure if it was your inks or what... it was just hard to make sense of the action sometimes. oh, and I couldn\'t tell who was talking during those scenes, at first. When I read it over I realise it was Pothole\'s second mouth...
I won\'t go into how amazing your colors are, since it\'s obvious.. owo wooow you put so much work into this. Love that you used Detective Nutty. and Ben at the end, haha.

I am really looking foward to seeing everyones work. I know that when I was  scripting I was really curiouse how everyone brought the group together. I remember reading a post that someone had a hard time getting everyone in the comic. I think that the challenge with this type of battle is the script and bringing 8 characters with such varying backgrounds into one story. I originally scripted for about 15 pages but because I got caught by the time monster, I had to scale down to 9. I didnt complete my entry as stong as I wanted but I had alot of fun with it. Good luck everyone, I was real gald to be part of this event!

sorry that it suddenly breaks into pencils at page 8. i suck and got so damn borred on the last week form working on this non-stop for 3 weeks that i would feel physicaly sick and my hands would shake whille drawing.

I regreted doing this battle throughout, but now thats it\'s over i\'m super glad i did it. i\'ve learnt so much about myself and my ablities. i\'m not superman and i can\'t do 40 pages fully inked withen 5 weeks with a 2 week holiday in the middle and the first week spent on a battle from before. well...i can\'t at the moment, but from this i have learnt much and i thank ya void for killing my neck, nail on my thumb, my back, my heart (it skiped beats in stress, i think it did again whille i was scanning this too) and my pens. as this was awesome expericence for me and i have gained shit loads of experience. (FIRST BIG PAGE COUNT COMIC!!!)

PS. sorry drawdan and kumaru. your characters don\'t get much screen time and for that i am lame.

Hahaha, holy shit. Dandy Dan has to be one of the raddest characters I happened upon tonight. This is my first time visiting the site in a good two years, so I am a little behind on Void, but  happy to see there are still active battles and colorful characters.
