I joined the site after my awesome-at-art/basically-knows-everything-about-comics-on-the-internet friend showed it to me (she was supposed to join as well). I really liked the concept because I'm not in school right now and sometimes it feels like I NEED a deadline in order to get anything accomplished.

Can't say I'm gonna stay forever because I've only been here a short time and I don't know what's going to happen a week from now or a month from now. At the moment though, I really need to practice practice practice. I'm sort of in a transitional period where I need to get better, fast, because I have to make a portfolio which will decide whether or not I get into THE art school around here.

it's damn impressive.

IT GUESSED DICKBUTT

Holy shit. It guessed Gardevoir (random pokemon I decided to pick) AND John Egbert from Homestuck. This thing got SKILLZZZZ

EDIT: AND SMEARGLE. Though I stumped it on Ruffnut from How To Train Your Dragon, only got her on the second question round.

Reviews / Re: So what comics are you reading?

As far as print comics go, as of late I've only been reading Locke and Key. It's a really amazing story, it's about halfway through at the current moment and anthologies for the first 3 of 6 'books' are out now, I believe. Basically, it's about this family of three kids and their mother who suffered the murder of their father at the hands of this maniac. There was something in the will specifying they move to the old family home and when they get there they start to find all these keys with magical properties. Really quite cool, I'd DEFINITELY reccomend it.

All the issues are really beautifully drawn and though I wasn't a fan of the style in the beginning and was in it mostly for the story I have to say that not only has the detail improved but it has grown on me a lot. Everything is rendered with a lot of care and the art always compliments the writing perfectly, I'd definitely check it out.

In terms of webcomics, SO much.

Homestuck by Andrew Hussie comes very highly reccomended, its getting more and more popular by the day and it not only updates every day (or close to it) but there are MULTIPLE updates daily. Really interesting story (that I couldn't BEGIN to try and summarize) and a cool format.

Effort Comics is also good but the updates are somewhat infrequent, good story though and I love the art to death. NSFW though.

And yes, Hanna is a Boy's Name of course must be included. It has a pretty compelling story (though updates are verrrry scarce at times) and the art is SO great.

And as for "gag" comics, Nedroid, Gunshow Comic, and Hark! A Vagrant (love Kate Beaton's art style...) are a few of my favorites.

Anyone who feels up to a battle, my character Jake is ready for his first battle >:3

Just PM me or challenge me on the main site, I don't think I'll be logged into the forums unless posting so it's the easiest way to contact me!

1.Nope! If they're not available they'll just decline it. If you're specifically interested in anyone just toss them a PM if you want to be courteous. For your first battle I recommend the longest deadline you can get.

2.I always take it as either someone wants to "watch" my work or they're interested in battling me. I always take it as a positive.

Ah, thanks! I appreciate the help ^_^

Hey all! I'm new to the site and just got my character approved, but before I battle I wanted to ask about a couple things if that's cool!

1. When you challenge someone to a battle, are you supposed to message them first to ask about their availabilities and etc.? If not, how do you choose an appropriate length of time for battles to take place in?

2. I understand the concept of the hitlist but I'm not really sure I understand it on a social level. What kind of message do I send to people when I put them on my hitlist, is the connotation negative, as in "I want to beat you and your character" or is it sort of just telling the person you want to do a battle against them in the near future, or is it potentially both? Just wanted to know since there are a few artists I like and would like to battle at some point.

Thanks in advance!
