Many years ago, VOID had an exciting tournament called Queen of VOID. Many beloved old-school VOID artists fought to have their character crowned as Queen. In 2007, Yosai's Orange won the crown. Now, eight years later, it's time for new royalty to step in.
Introducing the KING & QUEEN OF VOID TOURNAMENTS!
This year, we will be running a tournament to claim the title of KING and a separate one to find a new QUEEN. These tournaments will be running at the same time, but staggered by a week to alternate the voting times.
Sign up deadline: February 20th
QUEEN START: February 22nd
KING START: March 1st
DRAWING TIME: 2 WEEKS
8 PARTICIPANTS ON EACH SIDE = 3 ROUNDS
What kind of comics are these?
You will be randomly assigned to fight another potential member of royalty until a single King and a single Queen remain. Kings and Queens will not go against each other, but the winning King and Queen can battle afterwards if they choose!
Who can sign up?
Anyone in good standing (no frequent/recent defaults) with an existing character. Your gender doesn't have to match to king or queen, just your character's.
You CANNOT participate in both tournaments, sorry.
Do I have to have my character literally enter a tournament in my story? Or become royalty?
Although some artists chose to have their characters enter a fighting tournament in 2007, you can write whatever story you'd like. However you want to portray your character coming out on top of the other girls or boys is fine. Be creative! You can have a royal theme if you feel like it, but there are no requirements other than the standard ones we have regardless.
REMEMBER:
There is no VOID official canon storyline, so the sky is the limit!
However, your comics must abide by our standard rules for posting:
1. Must be a comic. Single pin-up pages/cover will not count.
2. Both your character and your opponent's character must appear in the comic.

Yeah I know Simon isn't a queen, but maybe in his heart deep down he is. But seeing as the team is 2 girls, one guy - queen side it is. If I do make it in, feel to omit any of the three of them. I'll probably sideline a couple myself just to be able to get a coherent story in I hope. Maybe try and shake all this rust out of my system, I haven't made a comic in a long while. I'll have to prep a new ref sheet.

I didn't even think about how this would work with two-(well technically three-)character entries! I'm excited to see Regi take the spotlight!

So, I wasn't going to do this in the first place until you guys peer pressured me into it, heheh, but, I just learned I was officially accepted to be a vendor at a con. I'm not allowed to say which one it is yet, but I pretty much need to use every single weekend I have to make products until I fly out there. This whole thing will require an enormous amount of prep.
And although I'd prefer TL Bot for this event, my options are either drop out or use Somadis. With Somadis I know I can bust out some good pages in less than a week. TL Bot takes me forever for some reason and I know I'd be super disappointing. And if I've learned anything from the last TL Bot battle, I'd rather just not do it than turn in poop. But I feel bad because some of you were asking for him, sorry Kozi </3
But if I do participate, I'll update his design sheet with the moon worshipers that were looting in his last BB, in case it's easier for people to focus on them in their comic rather than my dumb monster dude.

Yeah, I like TL Bot infinitely more as a character but Somadis's style plays to my strengths. I even did a test page for TL Bot a couple days since I haven't drawn him in a while and I just wasn't feeling it. Still not 100% decided on anything though :/
EDIT: Bahh, I'll try to think of a way to do really short (like 3 page) TL Bot comics, so maybe. I have so much sewing to do, you have no idea haha

Not a complaint or anything, just wanted to ask to clear up any confusion:
The first post says that the kings start would be March 1st. Red mentioned it would start in two weeks about a week ago now. Can someone please confirm if it will be starting this week or next?
Apologies if it's just that you haven't had time to set it up yet and it is due this week.

While I know that normally applies to the whole comic, it just occured to me to ask, are cover/splash pages allowed in an entry still, as long as there's still like, the rest of the normal comic following it? Or would a non sequential page just be removed?

It just means you can't be a lazy jerk that doesn't actually do a comic and just submits a pin up.

There was a time that someone submitted a cover, and that's it. The other person submitted a comic. The person with the actual comic almost lost to a really pretty cover
You can totally do a cover page or splash page, you just need a comic in there too. Sometimes you used to see "excuse pages" which was a wall of text submitted as their entry. So as long as it's a comic, you're good to go ;)
They only way it would be removed is if you submitted JUST a pin up. Then it would be removed and you'd get a default.
