Brabbit: Honestly I have no critiques, all I gotta say is I love the story and I LOVE how you depict Maw's movement. it feels very fluid and yet very grounded! And color me intrigued for where this story is going o3o

Ran: also no real critiques that I can think of lol! as always I LOVE your pencil work, it doesn't even look really unfinished tbh. And, honestly, props to you for being good at visuals because I didn't even realize until the last page that there was supposed to be dialogue. Even without the actual explanation I got the gist of what you were trying to get across, so, like. kudos!

brabbit: the amount you produced in this time limit is insane and great job keeping it consistent. I also like the story you did developing Maw as a character and building up some lore with this cult. My only crit is maybe adding some more white highlights rather than full midgrays, but you did so much it's better that it all gets flats than working on refining some to not get to other parts.

Ran: It's a shame you didn't finish but your pencils always look amazing. I love what you do with sound effects and the way you wrote Maw was really funny. Though it seems like something was slightly off when you scanned these in because there's this slightly off blurry quality. Still always great to see your stuff and even without the dialouge in the final few pages it was interesting.

This one was a hella close call. I loved both of them and honestly can’t find much to crit!!

Brabbit - Maw has such a simple yet appealing design. Whenever he shows up in a scene I’m like *chef’s kiss*, I love the concept too and really want to learn more about him! You’ve done the backgrounds cleverly here too, you imply a lot with different values without drawing full detail, I liked that. The backgrounds later on were definitely too sparse though.

Ran - Ugh, love the way you an detail a world while still having it be super readable. The sewers and alley wall were wonderfully drawn, and I love Taboo’s internal assumptions about Maw, like linking the tantrum to his child body. A shame about the time crunch, would love to see this comic finished and more of Taboo! His concept was a really interesting one too.

Wow, both of these were really cool. Very nice work, both of you.

Brabbit-  a complete story with consistent art, good length too! I liked how you tied the kids back together at the end. I'm a little lost as to what happened to all the other characters though. Did they die? Kind of unclear.
Very great work, it felt like I was watching a cartoon episode and I enjoyed it.

Ranzombie - I definitely can see what you are capable of with more time on your hands (I've only seen your SDT matches so far). I really like this artstyle and the cool shadow nail thing you did. I love how you both had a part where maw bites taboo and has instant regret. XD.
I would have liked to know what those last two pages were about, too bad you weren't able to finish it all.

Great job both of you! Good luck to you both.

Brabbit: WOWIE. You madmanm, getting all those pages inked/greyscaled in like what TWO DAYS? Insane. Anyways, love the story. It's simplistic but cryptic enough to leave some one to wonder some things without revealing too much. You totally made Maw into a complex character than just something that omnomnoms things. Though I'm not sure what happened to Taboo. Maybe a panel to show the distance between Taboo and the child getting separated would've been more clearer, because it just looks like she just dove forward a few paces. Regardless, good comic. Looking forward to more!

Ran2: Sorry you didn't finish in time. AMAZING BACKGROUNDS THOUGH, aaaa that level of detail I wish I can achieve. The way you interpreted Maw too is pretty interesting, real goblin energy lmfao. But yeah, the missing dialogue did hinder this. Are they teaming up? That's an INTERESTING thing I wanna see more of in the future.  Was that I thought some things Maw was saying was said by Taboo without speach bubble indicators or whatever.

GOOD BATTLE THIS ONE AAA YOU TWO KILLED IT.

I truly love both comics in this battle. Shame you weren't able to finish it in time Ranzombie. But what you did manage was really engaging. I always love your style btw!

Brabbit - Great storytelling with an art to match! The dark undertones of the story married well with your cute style. I think it even made it more compelling TBH. Bravo!

What an ironic match up.

This was very cute. Albeit unintentionally, I'm sure. This entry was interesting enough but lacked visual depth. It took place in a sewer but the reader requires a little more for eye candy. I suggest a few more highlights and colors besides the solid state red life liquid. I think the internal struggle of Maw is well placed. This was a magnificent comic and hope to see more of your work!

This PI sure seems to have gotten the short end of the dowsing rod but doesn't seem to want for nothing. The line work was lovely and even in the "unfinished" pages. If your panels can portray the story then who needs dialogue? Can't wait to find out more about this cadaverous crime solver. Gods' speed, Taboo.

Ran: Shame you couldn't get everything finished! This looked really good, if you're interested I can give some advice on how I did my timekeeping for my battle and made sure everything was done in time with some time to spare? Otherwise I feel you know where your faults lie here and there's not much more to say. Good luck next time!

Brabbit: My god you absolute madman! I have no idea how you did this many pages to this standard in this amount of time. I dream of being able to do this, the story flowed well, the drawings were great and I really enjoyed it. I don't really have any standout critiques but if there is something specific you feel you want looking at let me know and I can look a bit more in depth with it.

PS: I Love Maw, he's still cute and him and Looma will be friends one day.

It is with great shame that I was unable to complete my round beyond the inks stage. A couple of things went bad in the creation process from, trying something new to no avail, to mismanaging my time, to underestimating the page count.
What pains me the most is that I don't have an entry that can properly stand next to Brabbits amazing round.

Regardless, I still had fun drawing it up, and while it's incomplete, and the scanner screwed me over at the last second by changing the size configuration and making the files extra crispy, I am proud of some of the bits form it.

The last two pages are sadly missing dialogue, but if you would like to find out what was meant to be said, I'll provide some links to my deviantart, where I'll post em for viewing. Keep in mind, you shouldn't take into consideration these edited pages when giving a score, since they were completed out of time.

I think I need to reconsider my approach to comics in general, or just find a different way to work. I feel I might've hit a bump in the road thats stopping me from properly progressing my art skills. With that in mind, all criticism is welcomed as I am looking to improve.

Thank you to any one who takes the time to read my entry, and be sure to check out Brabbits gorgeous round! It's definitely worth your time!
