GO FOR BROKE! / Re: Elyan´s stuff

Good to see you painting again, meshing your landscapes with your really strong anatomy skills is key- at least you've got some forward momentum here.

I know you work from life as much as possible but the verticality of the portrait makes her neck merge with her spine and skull in an inhuman way. I think either adding hair mass to the back of her dome or shifting her chin outward would help alleviate that issue. I find your noses tend to be too large, lips too bowed and eyes too small but there is no accounting for taste. Overall the brush strokes and color choices are well done. Keep it up and integrate all the elements.

Can we artists that submitted comics to this anthology please get a status update on the assembly and release of this book? It has been two years in the making now and I'm sure everyone would very much like to cradle the book against their bosoms in the very near future and not allow all that work to float away like a fart in the breeze. Pleaze.

Purchased. Can't wait for Life After. Good luck on the signal boostin' and dream catchin' mang.

Ordering myself a stack. Looks like it came out beautifully and I'm very excited to see my work in the flesh among so many great talents. Thank you for all your work in coordinating and organizing this project Angie.

Time to signal boost people!

Wow this is shaping up beautifully- quite an impressive last minute turnout. Makes me want a Void Character Bio Book like we put out for WFA.

One point- I think Johnny and her Dinos ought to be pushed back a few rows and made bigger so the scale makes sense- some of the larger characters are dwarfed by the lil shawties.

Oh its awesome to see these coming in. Theres no reason everyone shouldn't do it and the end result will be phenomenal.

Definitely on the to-do list.

I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment that C2E2 is about the comics creators and artists alley and up and comers while Wizard is about D list celebs. Wizard is five minutes from my house and has some huge creators I definitely want to see but I'm usually disappointed with the sheer amount of riffraff I have to wade through to get to them. The programming at C2E2 is always far more helpful and superior anyway.

I'm planning on going at least Saturday to say hey to mostly Chicago based creators that I can see at the weekly drink and draw anyway but it'd be cool to walk the floor with the head honcho round these parts if you're game.

If any Voiders are flying in for Chicago cons, feel free to crash at my place if need be, as always.

You don't come to any of the Chicago or other Midwest cons like C2E2 or WizardWorld? I know a good amount of the ladies working on Ponies have attended/are attending, figured they would be hooking you up. I've met a handful of Voiders at cons over the years, tho I know its become less of a midwest community and more of a West Coast centric/foreign appeal in recent years.

Either way, the kid who lives downstairs from me is a Brony and I'll have him comeby and say hi at Trotcon.

Dude so do I- wish I had the time for it these days- I'm just getting too old for it. I'm a tournament fighter anyway, I like the high stakes and pressure of it. But I've been working on learning new skills, traditional painting and more personal art to level up in the meantime. Just trying to get involved again, give something back to the community I love so dearly and participate in what way I can while satisfying my own perfectionist demands balanced with an insanely busy adult life, I know you sympathize Bobo.

This looks intriguing in terms of subject matter and I admire your vision and passion. Definitely gonna order a copy and I hope you sell like gangbusters. What kind of legal mumbo jumbo? How did you get it on Amazon?

How do you manage the quality/timely product rate with submissions and deadlines?

Full of questions, just curious.

I've been working on something massive for this for a long time, figure I can wrap it up well within the next month if I get back to 8 hour art nights. Definitely happy to see it coming together with a lot of big guns doing their best work for print. Cannot wait to hold it in my hands.

Your voice could stand to be a bit louder but the symphonic interludes truly set the scene. So well composed, scripted and well spoken.

Now that we know how a battle comes together, I'd like to hear about Void Artist Archetypes.

17
I tend to do my best creative work listening to others hype the medium and work, gets the juices flowing for the crunchy stuff. Lately been working my way thru the extensive libraries of...

1 Inkstuds- a college radio show hosted by one incredibly well spoken and versed young man who just so happens to prefer indie/underground comics to the mainstream and co-hosts his show with creators, discussing works, methods, personal life but also allowing them to select the music. He's also friends with alot of gone-pro Voiders and frequently pimps them.

2-Sidebar- three dudes talking comics typically interviewing more mainstream types but they're well versed enough to create fun and comical discussion of the medium without drifting into tangents and rambling too terribly much.

I've nearly finished inking my 20 pages. Gonna start gray scales next week but I'm on track to finish by the end of the month.

Hopefully everyone else is making great progress so the book can finally see the light of day!

I'm curious to know who all is still working on their entries, can I get a shoutout?

I'll definitely be there Saturday to cruise the Artist Alley- high five you, Gabe and KR and buy a mountain of comics as always.

I'll be at Atomic Sketch tomorrow night too and I guess there are a bunch of opening night parties at bars I may have to crash. I'm sure you know more than I do.

Love me some head-choppin, dick-punchin' Red Sonja/Merida vibe. Warrior princesses will likely be in no short supply, but this is a strong first entry that sets the bar for the tourney well and truly high.

I dig this page. A taste of sweetness yet to come!

I reckon it could flow seamlessly as the spiritwalk outback setting jives with our Scorched Earth policy. It looks like a little tiki cabana slapdashed and lashed together with bamboo and coconuts- Gilligan's island style. Which suits me just fine for now. Go bananas with the concept- blank slate means anything goes!

Finally watched the first episode season 3 of GOT.

And have some Toro Joe, or Lord Toro Joe in this case.

Mmm that quaff of hair reminds me of someone I know. I love the bullish plates and colar, with the heel spikes- this whole design aesthetic demands Void alternaverse comics. Make it hoppen!
I suppose there's a bit of Snow Ravens in there. Just watched S3Ep1 meself- we are in for a good season my fellow Thronies.

Cool style, very touchy-feely. I can see some shared influences between you and your cuzzo. You should look into Dave Crosland's work- has this sort of markery textured traditional vibe. http://www.hiredmeat.com/meatwork.htm

I like the character, and the cobbled together from office-supplies feel but  some of the paneling is a little unclear- does the passer-by donate the sleeping bag to him or does he have a magic cup that steals whatever he needs? I expect with some layout help and some formula development to achieve consistency with your controlled-chaos- you'll be a fine comicker.

Welcome aboard, any friend of Neary's is a friend of mine.

We'd love to have you aboard for the next tourney round. Probably late next week sometime.  Typically we spontaneously rally a crew and record around 4-6 Pacific time and send out invites via Skype and Google Plus. If you wanna PM me your names for those programmes that'd be helpful.

Obviously its good to include members of the comics we're reviewing's creative teams on the casts to answer such questions and clarify the nitpicks, also to tell the stories of their creation. So if Red or Salt are willing, it'd be nice to talk to you as well. Goes for you as well Pyras.
