This was a fantastic turn out and the art speaks for itself! Everyone put so much effort into their gifts as well as an immense amount of creativity! Thank you so much Shen for the amazing gift, I really love the color palette it was something I definitely didn't expect, and I can't wait for tosee the art the new year has to bring!

Oh, I remeber at one point there's mini awards for the year that usually go on the front page. I'm not sure if those haven't happened in a while or if they're less frequent than I thought!

I think a 'Redraw that battle' tournament would be an interesting concept, though I know it would be hard to do in a battle sense since the opponents have to be present in the comics. I thought it would work kinda like those "draw it again" post on dA that people do where you simply take an old comic and recreate it/redraw it/change the direction etc. where you could, potentially, have your opponent take place. I'm not too sure if there's anything outside the forums to showcase the improvement of people (other than just looking at their past comics) but, this could be a fun way to also help with the most improved award that I remembered seeing at one point on the site.

Ok so, as suggested I'll just put down the rundown of what we gathered (and if I forgot or wrote something incorrect just feel free to correct me) for a potential Newbie+Veteran Tourney:

As the name somewhat implies it was suggested that a potential tourney be based around a Newbie and a Veteran member of the site being paired together. Several points were made that, possibly, one of the best options would be to go over the cheevo list that determines who falls under what catergory. A thought was made about how long a character has been out but, with many experienced artist entering new characters, it was mostly decided against. Another suggestion was going off of amount of comics however this was also dropped as even some veteran artist don't have enough comics to make a gap. It sounds like another idea for a Tag Team Tournament which seems like a popular idea going around right now.

It seems like people would also like this to possibly happen around Inivitational time so that new members can feel engaged even if they don't continue with the tournament. It is just a suggestion after all so the communitty and mods can do with it what they like!

One thing I say get played around with a lot in the chat was a TV Show/Movie themed toruney. One way it might work out is there is a set genre for the TV Show or Movie of someone's choice then fit their character's into that world/a certain scene. For example, the theme could be si-fi and be open to any and all si-fi.

Another idea I saw passed around was along the same lines but, themed around Video Games or Esports. Same basic jist.

A final one I just thought up might be Sports in genearl where the two are in some sort of sport and are trying to win the Cup or the championship or something like that!

Here to freeze to death it's Abby. Growing up on some tropical isles she's only seen snow a couple of times before so that'll make things interesting! If I get time after finals when I get home I will color it but, I want to do a solo abby comic and the winter one so we'll see!

Before we start I just want to clarify this data is by no means a hateful way in which I want to call for the attention of the VOID community. After reading through the Halloween Party comic several times it became rather clear that certain characters continued to pop up in numerous comics. At the same time, it was also very noticeable that several characters never appeared once in any comic other than their own. Furthermore, some artist did not sign up via the participation Google Document yet their comics were included in the overall collaboration.

I am fully aware that there is favoritism in VOID, by that I mean people enjoy and love certain characters more, which is a totally understandable feeling when on a site with some many creative minds to feed off of. I would like to take this time to challenge all artist to be willing and able to experiment with characters outside their normal spheres of fanart/interactions even as background characters. There was a total of 227 cameos for the total of 86 overall comic pages on the official Halloween Party Comic. 52% of the overall cameos went to characters that were drawn 8 or more times, leaving 48% of the characters with 7 or less spotlights. 4% of all characters participating, wither the artist dropped out or otherwise, received not a single cameo.

5% of the cameos, out of 227, went to Lily Feather with 12 appearances in a total of 86 pages. The next highest amount of spotlights, each at 4% of the total cameos, went to Jiko and Louise at 10 cameos. That is roughly a Cameo every ten pages. There numbers also carried over to characters there were not directly mentioned on the participation Google Doc with some as high as 8 cameos with others as low as 1 spotlight.
Once again this was by no means a way to directly target any artist this was just a collection of data done on my own free time out of my own curiosity. What I want everyone to gather from this is to be willing and able to go beyond what you know to help others who are active yet silent feel just as a welcome as those in the chatrooms every day. Thank you for taking the time to listen and tolerate a curious fellow artist.

So it's not really shipping per say as Abby hasn't actually meet many people other than Tenbu, Sam, Rorrin, and Pavoo. But I mean, she's a chick that loves those beefcakes, what a bunch of meatloafs!

Abby back at it again with those black shoes! I think everytime I use a reference I'll post it in the off chance someone finds it very healpful. Abby is feeling pumped on her morning jog crusin' at a steady 50 mph without drawing a sweat.

I thought I'd hop on this too since a few years ago I tried to do the 365 days of art and failed. I think starting with just a month will help out a lot! My "theme" is Abby with different states of emotions or being (?) to help get a better understanding of her as well as different facial expression? ANYWAY! I'm also linking the reference I used since poses are really hard D: http://orig14.deviantart.net/b965/f/2014/243/e/6/some_lying_poses_by_xong-d7xd2ao.jpg

Who thought I would draw Abby as the flash when in fact is was I, Di- *shot*

Anyway, Abby grew upon in a chain of islands so it makes sense that she held some form of interest in those little ocean critters. Plus, abby looks prety buff as a Jostar not gonna lie!

While I might offend some people I will not apologize for my personal opinion as a fellow content creator and only wish for a civil discussion about the topic is possible.

I understand that I haven't been the most active member of Void with college ramping up and my other actives taking charge however, this is a trend I have discovered on almost every forum of creating characters or role playing as existing characters. While I whole heartedly encourage and enjoy crafting relationships between characters (wither it be canon or crack) I cannot help but be somewhat frustrated with shipping too quickly. For example, several new characters from the invitational and other wise, having submitted a single comic or not, seemed to develop pairs/shipping before a moment of character development has been portrayed. In other forums, such as dA, this problem effects numerous member's urge to participate if they feel extremely left out or with little means of character development.

Of course if your character has to sleep around or kiss everyone for a plot related things (you're the last of your race and need to reproduce scenario) then I don't mean to bash that sort of creative drive. On the other hand, when this mass shipping or pairing with no character interaction or little interaction within a small number of comics occurs many people feel less motivated to develop a strong backstory and flesh out a character. As such I'm left wondering if I should even work on fleshing out my character and thoughts or should I just hop on the bandwagon and have my character's shag every attractive character in sight. Perhaps there is a way around this system or perhaps my concern will fall on deaf ears as everyone continues to ship whole heartedly but, I am losing motivation to even complete jams or participate in Discord with little promise of my character gaining anything or growing as a character.

I think I'd be interested? It really just depends how long the sessions (?) would be and when it would take place. I have school starting up next week so the weekends are naturally the best for most people but I might be able to do things during the week ;v; let's get reporter in on this craziness
