Help / Re: Process help

Set your page size to 11x17, do your digital pencils in a nonphoto blue, then take those files to your local print shop and have them printed right onto 11x17 Bristol board. Ink them and scan the pages, and your blue lines will disappear with a quick adjustment to the black and white values.

Ah, yeah, looking at the structure of the post again, it’s definitely a bot.

What fight are you referring to, and what help are you looking for? Since you aren’t an active artist on the site (what’re you waiting for!?), you’ll need to post some examples of your work so we can offer some direction.

Good point on redlines, Pomo. Yeah, if I ever catch anyone using my drawovers in the final page, you’re getting the stick.

MENTOR SIGN-UP APPLICATION FORM:
1-How much work you would expect to be doing: (Realistically, how much of your time can you offer them?)
I will be available weekdays after 5pm Pacific Time, anytime on weekends, I'll put in as much as you can, and I'm happy to do redline drawovers.
2-How much work you would expect from your Trainee(s): (Will you be forcing them to work x amount of hours a day, or will you allow them to dictate the workflow?)
My trainee will likely dictate the workflow, but it's useful to set some sort of goal, which in this case would need to be daily, since it's 1 week deadlines. I'll be working on my own comic at the same time, so we can sort of keep each other going.
3-What you would like to see from your Trainee(s) when they apply: (to help you decide who to take on. Think about: their skill level?
how long have they been on Void? Do they have a character? Have they battled before?)

I don't care how long you've been here, or whether you've battled before, though familiarity with how the site works is a plus. Obviously, having a character is kind of a prerequisite, unless the ensuing tourney is to be an artist battle, in which case it's not a factor, and I'm happy to help with character ideas. Beyond that, I would prefer some general technical proficiency. We're working on the comics making process, not learning to draw. For that, Loomis is a far better teacher than I.
4- Your preferred method of communication with your Trainee(s): (Are PMS or discord the best way to contact you? If they're going to need a microphone or webcam to work with you, let them know!)
Discord is the best general method, but I'm all for skyping and whatnot if you're working traditionally or just hate typing or whatever.
5- Do you have an area you consider your speciality?: (EG self-promotion, inking, writing, colouring, composition, time management
etc?)

I think I give pretty good writing feedback, and I'm a good editor. Layout and composition are the hardest work of making any comic, but I have a pretty good eye for it. I will physically beat bad fonts and word balloons out of you. :3

Since I just started a battle, I’m glad the timeframe for this is relatively long, as I’d love to participate. I’m honestly not sure if I’d make a better mentor or trainee though. Not to derail the thread, if anyone wants to discuss this, @ me on discord.

THE INCUBATOR / Re: Lyme's redesign hell
« on: Apr 11, 2018, 10:47 PM »
Oh,  and I know it was brought up on discord, but just because the intro can only be 4 pages, don't think you can't incorporate the rest of the story in an immediate followup beyond battle. So don't toss any ideas, just try to condense the essentials into a 2-4 page intro, and once he's in, drop the rest on us. It's definitely a challenge, but anything you can do in 6 pages can be done in 4, if you really have to.

New character I'm working on. I have an idea for his intro, so I'll post the roughs as soon as I've got em.

Haven't decided on his name yet, but he's basically an urban explorer. He parkours around Void city, tagging and going wherever he wants. He likes to dumpster dive and fashion makeshift tools and weapons out of found objects. His best friends are a can of spray paint and a roll of duct tape. He isn't shy about showing off his vitiligo markings, because the cops can't catch him. What's a little art on the walls in the wake of kaiju and giant robot attacks, anyway? He fancies himself a ninja, but lacks any formal martial arts training beyond an orange belt in karate when he was six. He isn't actually homeless, but he prefers the adventure of the streets and secret tunnels beneath the city to the comforts of home.

First of all:  BOOBS!

It looks like you're capable of doing some decent anatomy, but a lot of what you've shown in these pages is lagging way behind your backgrounds.  That said, your backgrounds in the last couple pages are really solid.  If getting better at drawing people is your biggest problem, you're way ahead of the game.  Backgrounds seem to be your strength, and it's most everyone's weakness.

Seriously, where are all the veterans to come tell us new kids what we're doing wrong?  There should not be more comments before a battle than there are after it's posted.  If you commented to say how hyped you were for the battle, comment again to tell us what you thought of it!
