Hey! I know I haven't been on here in a long-ass time, but would you mind if I joined in for round 2 of this support group?

Hey! I know I haven't been on here for a really long time, but I figured I might as well let ya'll know that I have a post-apocalyptic/horror comic being published through 215 INK.
I still plan on putting the latest issues up on my webcomic site- (http://www.wanderlustbluescomic.com/wanderlustblues/), while past issues will be put up for sale on Comixology. Issue 1 is currently out now, with Issue 2 to follow up on the 28th.

https://www.comixology.com/Wanderlust-Blues/comics-series/60326?ref=cHVibGlzaGVyL3ZpZXcvZGVza3RvcC9saXN0L3Nlcmllc0xpc3Q

Issue 3 is presently going up on the webcomic site, so feel free to follow it there, if you want.

Also, if anyone has any advice on how to promote this further beyond the typical social media venues (Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, etc.) it would be most appreciated. I am not that great at self-promotion and I honestly need all the help I can get. Thanks.

Well, I've been working on my webcomic "Old Bones & New Meat" and I've pretty much gotten a site to host it on- http://www.old-bones-comic.com/
Currently Chapter 2 is going to come to its close shortly and I will be starting up Chapter 3 relatively soon.

I also have a Patreon- http://www.patreon.com/oldbonescomic
Not only by donating you will help me out, but I will also give 15% donation to one of the charities listed on the page.
Charities so far include...

1.) Rosebrooks- https://www.rosebrooks.org/index.html- a shelter in Kansas City for battered women & children.

2.) Purrfect Pets http://www.purrfectpets.org/- a no-kill cat shelter.

3.) American Red Cross http://www.redcross.org/- ... It's the Red Cross. :I

4.) Wounded Warriors Project- http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/- service dedicated to helping wounded veterans.

More info will be on the Patreon page itself.

So, if you can contribute that would be pretty awesome. Signal boosts would also be appreciated.
Also, on another note, since I'm really passionate about this and want this to go places, would anybody be able to give me advice on getting the word about this thing out there?

Thanks.

Cool...glad someone else decided to give this a whirl Sid.......any thoughts on the process or using this as a sketchbook exercise?

It was just a pretty fun thing to do. I was working on a lot of consistent art projects, so it was just nice to do a quick little exercise to draw something a little different.

Also, it was pretty easy to relate to how cold powers could come from undead (seeing as coldness is always associated with death). Mostly, it was just fun, although I did find myself starting to over-think the back story a little too much for what the exercise required.

(Also, I am so timely when replying)

Blind Prince
Power(s): Cold Generation
Source of Powers: Undead
Weapon: Plasma Scimitar

The Blind Prince was once the fierce warrior prince named Altero the Great. On one fateful day, an evil necromancer, in search of more undead slaves, slaughtered Altero's village. The necromancer decided to make Altero his personal body-guard and loyal companion, so he resurrected the prince as an intelligent undead with the power of the icy grip of death. With Altero's intelligence came self-awareness of what had happened to him and his people. He killed the necromancer out of revenge. Unfortunately, he also had to destroy all the others in his village, as they had essentially become mindless zombies set on destroying any living thing that they came across.
After all this, he dedicated his life to stamping out evil wherever it can be found and protecting the lives of the innocent.

spit spat, time to chat / Advice on getting a comic published
« on: Jan 26, 2014, 06:33 PM »
After doing some thinking, I'm going to see if I can rework my Old Bones & New Meat comic and submit it for publishing.
I figured this would be as good of a place as any to ask for advice on trying to get a comic published. Really, almost any advice that can be given would be appreciated, but there are a few specific questions that I'd figure that I'd throw out there.

1.) Where are some good places to get connections/contacts for people working in comics?

2.) Which comic publishers should I work on approaching with my ideas?

3.) Digital publishing vs. traditional publishing- pros & cons for both.

4.) Any resources on self-publishing or industry publishing?

5.) Where are some good places for initial inquiries?

I would love to hear what ya'll have to say. Thanks.

I don't know why I don't do more of these types of style exercises. They're so much fun to do.

Raleigh in the style of "Steven Universe", Antonio Prohias, and Rankin Bass "The Hobbit" (which is kind of like a blast from the past for me. I remember watching that movie when I was 5 or something).

Question! Can I post preview or "hype" panels/comics for the webcomic I'm posting on here or is it just for Void battle comics?

Not going to let a lack of tablet disallow me to at least post something up here.

Raleigh would be the moody English/literature teacher who is overly invested in his subject matter. He is inevitably frustrated by the lack of appreciation for the great classics shown by his "piss-for-brains" students.
He is also the subject of some not-so-flattering doodles.

21
Bah! I am still unable to use my tablet, so I've had to resign myself to a sketchbook and whatever pens I could come up with (apologies for the shitty scan, by the way).

Anyway, she's an angel mecha catgirl. The eyes on her armor are a reference to a description of angels found in Revelations. They also shoot lasers.

Murdoc Reynolds is a high-strung, easily exasperated, prima donna artist. He’s good at his craft and while well-respected in the art community, he does not have many friends within this personal life.

When Boots was a baby, he was rescued off the side of the road and taken to a local wildlife sanctuary. Having grown up amongst humans for all his life, he ended not being well-suited for life in the wild, so he became the pet for one of the shelter volunteers. While he has proven to be a fairly good companion, he’s not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.

Most satyrs are known for their wild and rather hedonistic behavior. Tatharo, though, is a little different. He’s a quiet, bookish type of satyr who would rather spend his weekends at the library rather then go out drinking with the other members of his herd.

Varekka is a dwarf warrior princess. Like any proper dwarf (be they man or woman) sports a glorious beard, which she is proud of.

12.) Kerrini is a proud and fearsome mama bird monster. You don’t mess with her babies… ever.

13.) Drifter is a mysterious figure that can be seen in the loneliest areas of abandoned roads, the darkened corners under city bridges, and in the forgotten areas of civilization. She is always seen playing her banjo. If approached, she will only stop playing and respond to one request- asking if she can play you a song. She will ask you what you would prefer to hear- a song about the best or worst moment of your life. If you want to hear a song about your best moment, she will play a song that will be so intoxicating that you will feel all the highs and joy of your happiest time. You will almost relive that memory, exactly as if you were there again. After the song, you go on your way with nothing more gained or lost.

If you ask to hear her play a song about the worst moment of your life, she will sing a song that will cut into the very heart of your being and make you relive all of the pain your lowest time can bring. When the song is done, though, you will leave a much wiser person then before, understanding the world and your place in it a little better then before.

If asked why she is blindfolded, she simply says that it’s “to see your memories better”.

14.) Mr. Big Paw might be a bit rough around the edges, but he’s really not as bad as he seems. The scandalous rumors circulating about him and Little Red Riding Hood are all rubbish. He’s really all Granny’s boy at heart.

15.) Mask Face is a mysterious creature with an incredible sense of balance and dexterity. It usually doesn’t interact or attack anyone, unless provoked. Unfortunately, what exactly it considers “provocation” is anyone’s guess.

16.) Raisin- a punk rat. :I
