Compete for the final brain cell.

Moka- Fun story with good writing.  Agree with some of the others that it could have been trimmed a bit for pacing by about 15% or so but it still remains charming throughout.  Your technical issues with the scanner and pen did cause the line quality to take a dip though your style and gestures still carry the comic till the end.  Real funny stuff here.

Rikun- composition and paneling are your strengths.  There's always some dynamic looking angles and posing going on in your comics.  And you're getting that comedic timing in your comics down better as you go.  I figure your storyboarding background is what helps your comics keep a lively momentum.
For the art you should work on getting cleaner lines.  There's a lot of places where the inks either go over other lines or just leave open gaps.  There's also plenty of short uneven lines on the figures.  A style like yours would benefit greatly for long, confident, brushstrokes that compliment your strong posing.

I did expect a nice feel good  comic from both sides and it did not disappoint.

Rikun - Pretty good story and Itami shines as her spunky friendly self once again. Only thing is that I am now kinda thirsting for more character development from her like putting her in more challenging scenarios that doesn't always end up with "We're now friends and all is well and good in the world" at the end. You got a pretty good grasp at writing comedies now  maybe it's time to push it further :) Also  I see you experimenting with screentones, I feel that using them more all throughout the pages would've given your art a more consistent feel. Your action  poses are pretty solid and those dojos in the background on page 1 looked really good. Overall, good job!

Moka - I adore your style so much and I love your plot  as well. Their interaction feels very natural  and  Dauber really made this comic extra fun so he was a very clever addition to your side. A part of me wonders if the comic dragged on a little bit but overall it was very enjoyable. That last panel on page 2 made me laugh out loud, it's my favorite bit. With your lovely style, I wish I could see  more finished looking comics from you in the future though!

I been waiting for this battle for awhile, I am just glad to finally see in happen, Rikun -- it's always good to see you produce more comics, great use the simple yet effective premise, it was a real treat to read.

Moka-- I found it funny how you took that one panel from my battle with Seventeenth and turned it into a whole comic into itself, it's like a spin-off episode of an anime that follows the misadventures of these two wacky folks, I love the friendly rivalry Itami had with Kyou and the nice cameo by Blitz's Dauber the Jolly snowman was a pleasant surprise, great stuff from the both of you, these were fun reads.

Very short comment-critique:
These are both very cute.
Moka: Love the plot, and I'm glad the whole story got into your everlasting-amount-of-pages. I think you lose a few points in quality because I can see the sketch in some of the panels, and the linework is sometimes a little hard to understand(at least for me and the initial thwacking of the ducks) I like how you pull in other void npcs into the story.

Rikun: Love the greyscale and lil added effects. I think the plot could use a bit more intrigue, as it's kinda the norm i.m.o., but otherwise I like how clear everything is and Itami taking Kyou to the movies in the end. I think working on how you draw humans, or at least their faces, and the lineweight involved would help interest in the long run.
^u^

Rikun: This story is great, the plot twist was well done and well set up. also the gray midtones help you a bunch with this. Your action was also really well done in this. One thing you should try is using a smaller brusher size so you can work in some more smaller subtle details, like some clothing folds or a line for the upper row of teeth Moka has a lot of these small details you can use as an example for future stuff to help sell more of the anime felling.

Moka: Even with the rushed inks this looks great and this is a fun story. I hope this next year is better for you and for comics i would recommend doing some bbs with soft deadlines and working with a writer to give you a shorter comic to do. Still great job with this comic

Rikun - A fun plot twist. Like Joe I initially thought okay, that’s a little random, but it was a great payoff! The action poses were good too. I honestly can’t think of much crit aside from the usual do more backgrounds and stuff, haha.

Moka - I don’t think the gag was dragged on too long tbh! It did go on for a while, but the fact that you interspersed it with Dauber’s thoughts as opposed to JUST a back and forth made it work. And I love how he was thinking so much into it when st the end of the day, as he said, they share one braincell between them and even THAT wasn't working too well XD The lines were definitely wobbly but I totally get how hard it can be to adjust to a new tool. Hope 2021 is kinder to you and don’t push yourself to battle if you don’t want to!!

Rikun - Great job!
The plot twist got me to laugh out loud and caught me off guard. I thought the comic started off pretty random but you turned that randomness into something good and the writing was solid when I went back through and reread it, so I enjoyed it. Cute, simple and short with some good art. Hope to see more from you in the future!

Moka - I see you have started using Meta jokes :D! Not only that, but they were well done! (I'm hoping I sparked some inspiration there with our earlier fight) The Snowman's dialogue was hilarious and got me laughing a few times. I was taken off guard at the ending a little bit. :O BUT I LIKED IT!
If you keep having trouble finishing your comics you could try writing things a little shorter. I would love to see you write your own personal webcomic or graphic novel on your own time. Your stuff is entertaining.

These were both very fun reads! Nice pun Rikun. The shading and visual effects add polish to your panels, and the way you wrapped that interaction up was satisfying.

Moka, your art style is very cute. I would want to see more of it any day! And your writing as well. I had chuckles all the way through! It leaves me wanting to go spelunk through the rest of your comics!

I'm so glad to have battled you Moka!! And don't be so down on yourself, I LOVE what you did in your comic! The expressions were on point, and I felt their shared idiocy and competitiveness was adorable! I hope you had fun, and I'd love to have these two knuckleheads interact more in the future.

Thank you so much!!

EDIT: somehow page 10 has been omitted and jumps straight to page 11....sorry for the jarring experience!

uploaded "successfully" ahahaha... the new scanner's quality totally threw me off! Also, it's definitely the worst ink job I have ever done ever... I bought a new G-pen and worked with it for a bit and thought I mastered it--AND TOTALLY BOMBED IT IN THE COMIC!!

I think all in all, all comics I did in 2020 were becuase I was stressed at myself for not doing comics, so I did these challenges because I felt like I HAD to over whether or not I WANTED to. I ended up having a lot of deadlines and other work suddenly come up too, so that's a lesson about taking comic battles in the holiday season if you work in the service industry--

So I'm rather disappointed in myself for sure, and I'm sorry, Rikun! I really didn't do a good job competing. I think for the upcoming year I'm going to take it slow and maybe only do Beyond Battles and clear my other jobs and artwork and work on my mental health instead. :')

Extended! I'm so sorry--my scanner ended up breaking, so I'll have to get a new one. ;-;
