What I love is that both of these comics could actually be canon, especially if Red's side was Jaja making a promise to herself, and then Footini's side fulfilling it. Even if it wasn't intentional, I'm honestly glad to see these stories sync!

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's Somadis.
These were both really fun. Nice nods on Red's side and some good ol-fashioned monster punching on Footini's.

Red: THERE'S A MONEY PLANE 2?! this was such a great concept and idea of Kid JaJa watching the show. I agree with the background crits, adding a little something like a texture in the backgrounds showing the full room would help, also for the quicker backgrounds, like page 4 panel 2 adding stuff like hints of the crutains or draw would help ground it more. the style change on page 3 was really cool but I felt like Jaja's kicking leg looked a bit off, It may have needed some more lines to indicate the foreshortening going on in that limb since it just looks smaller than her other leg. Also it's awesome to see you doing some more comic stuff.
Footini: Your colors are amazing and going digital has helped your art alot. All the poses are really nice and the action is good overall, however you need to work more on the individual rythem of your lines and making more dynamic shapes. final panel of page 5 is a good example of this, Jaja's arm is made of symmetrical shapes. Not only are these anatomically incorrect, but they are not dynamic either. You'll want more asymmetry in your figures as well as working to have lines flow into each other. This is a really important concept and one I'm figuring out myself. here's a good video about dynamic shapes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38ALpGUi2r4

Gosh these were both incredible lol
Red I loved your idea to make Somadis a TV show, baby Jaja is so cute!! And that plushie? I want TEN. Thanks for the shoutout, I bet the Super Shen Rangers is the hypest shit LOL
Footini, goold old fashioned monster punchin!! I loved the "five minutes ago" flashback gag, and blaming Ancelin when heroics turn to destruction. So goddam funny!
GREAT SHIT YOU GUYS

Had a hard time voting on this one.
Red - Young Jaja is so adorable! This brings me back to the time when I used to watch Sentai shows as a child and those Saturday morning cartoons I sit through while my parents do house chores.
Footini - your comic game is getting better. The colors are vibrant and the punchline (no pun intended?) delivery is on point as usual. That poor moon looks like a head that actually got punched. I dont know if it's intentional or not but it's perfect.
Both comics are really good quality esp for 1 weekers! Full colored and all at that. Bravo to both of you!

These were both fun comics, for different reasons! The only crits I had have already been mentioned by others.
Red- The story was very cute, I loved it. I also really liked the stylistic difference between plushie Somadis and the grittiness of Somadis themself.
Footini- Your use of color was nice here, and the reference nods were fun to read. The action poses were pretty dynamic and were interesting to see as well.

I love that reading these was like reading them in order where jaja starts as a kid fighting Somadis and then gets to fight them as an adult!

It is great when comics feel like they line up together.
Red, thank you so much for the Johnny Cool cameo. You excellently captured him lol. Your colors are beautiful and you're a great artist. You definitely need work though on your dynamic posing and action. That flying kick from Jaja looks really odd. For something like that I would have looked for reference from legit tokusatsu. Like a Kamen Rider kick would have worked nicely. That being said, I like the style shift a lot during that scene. I really like your approach to this battle it's very fun.
Footini, the Shin Godzilla style splash page is a very fun nod. A straightforward battle against a kaiju may be simple but it's definitely a fun exercise. Off the top of my head, I would have liked to have seen you give a little care to the rubble and the buildings. While something like that can be complex there's definitely reference you can use of demolition. The rubble itself is very much an afterthought with some scratches meant to take the place of any real texture. Slow down and add more lines. Define that rubble and those cracks. Keep in mind that shadow and light will affect the different surfaces and taking some time to define those even just a little will give more life to the art. I feel like that is the best advice I can give you for not just those scenes but the whole comic. Slow down and give definition and texture to the shapes you're introducing and you'll come out stronger for it.

Red- I loved your approach to the story, I think its a good example of how a writing direction can be "creative" without being off-the-wall and weird.
One of my favourite parts of this comic was page 3, the change of style was really well-executed, it made the scene feel epic, I really believed we were inside a kids imagination. Another part I really enjoyed was the final panel, the image on the tv reflecting Jaja's pose was cute as hell.
crit- The backgrounds looked over-sized and lacked character compared to everything else. Not a huge deal, but for me, it stopped a great comic from becoming excellent.
Footini- Great job! As usual, your art is fun and lively- but the addition of bright, digital colours has really pushed (or punched?) it to new heights. The Saturday morning cartoon energy radiating off of this comic is strong, I love it.
I also appreciate all the little creative details you sprinkled in- like the panel with 9 to 5's cameo being in black and white and all the gag billboards. Keep up the great work!
Crit- The nod to Anceline at the end didn't have any set-up and relied a bit too much on meta context to work for me.

Very nice work, both of you!
Footini, your new tablet is proving to be a wise investment. you really know your color values and the digital media really helps them pop!
Red, maybe I'm just a sucker for comics about the characters as kids, but I really loved the concept. it also acted as a cute prequel to Footini's comic. Not sure if that was planned, but it was super cute. and i loved the stuffed animal.

This was great stuff from the both of you two, and I'm sure it wasn't intentional but if you read the Red side first than Footini's it has a nice bookend element to it, with Red story serving like a unofficial prequel of a young Jaja dreaming of one day fighting Somadis (swearing and all), and Footini's side showing us that she eventually did get that wish (and there was cursing involved), both great tales and I enjoyed the little easter eggs like the Shen Rangers and the ad for the upcoming Dungeon Master of Disaster event, keep up the good work :-)

Red - This was so sweet omg ToT Honestly such a clever way to go about this battle too. Loved the plush Somadis and details like “1994 UWU productions”. For all the personality you give young JaJa with her plush and collection of bandages though, her house is really bare by comparison. I know there wouldn’t likely be kaiju movie posters around the house since her mum seems disparaging, but there’s no family pictures on the wall, or any furniture apart from the sofa and tv stand.
Footini - The action and colouring in this was so good! Such a lively and fun comic. The only nitpick I have is that I think the nut punch could have been communicated better - I thought it was a gut punch until I hung out in VC. Maybe you could have done a closeup of the punch or a smaller blast radius to make the location of the hit more obvious.

Red this is pretty much my favorite depiction of JaJa by another artists. Page 3 legit gave me chills. I really like how we accidentally made a two part comic in a way.
Thank you for the excellent battle.

I'm super into the order these comics are read, because your last panel flows seamlessly into....
FOOTINI- Jaja continues to be this leap before you look ball of punchy energy. I wont deny the comedy is on point here. The gag right on the second page was a great payoff. I especially dug the minimal color palette with the adds and neon being red and the city being a turquoise color. Made everything stand out. It's clear you love drawing Somadis, because the featured love panel to panel with the expressions and action was front and center. This plays up so much of what Red established in childhood Jaja's viewing of her shows. This is cheesy, exaggerated and just a walloping good time- at least as far as Jaja is concerned. For a straight up fight comic, it shines.
But I'll admit I don't know Jaja beyond memes and her whole 'I'll just punch it to the moon!' If someone asked me, with the comic history she has now to describe Jaja to them I don't think 'she punches stuff' is a personality. I wanna see more of her beyond her brawn- or even with it to see some context behind who she is.
