Hi all, if you haven't seen it already, I'm doing a monthly giveaway where I'll design a logo for an independent comic that's close to printing. I'm doing this to expand my portfolio of logo design, and to help out cool independent comics that don't have the budget for design so it'll help them sell on the shelves and at conventions, etc.

Been a while since I posted a page. I moved to New York and have been in some awkward transitions the past couple months—but that’s no excuse! I’ll throw a few pages at you guys today, as this volume is almost done being posted.

GO FOR BROKE! / Re: My return after coming full circle.

I say whether you want to draw humans or animals, drawing humans from reference, LIVE from a model, not from photos, will make your cartoon style drawings even better. You can do the same with animals, but they probably won't "pose" for you. At least I can never get my cat to sit still when I even try to take a pic of him.

It's really all anatomy and shapes. I find drawing from animal reference gives me more of an understanding later of how human anatomy works, by drawing something that's using roughly the same bones and muscles, but in a different arrangement. Horses are especially hard.

Hey all, a friend of mine put together an anthology and is raising funds for it on Kickstarter. It's themed around the balance between dark and light.

There are over 10 creators in the book, I did one of the stories and also designed the book's logo. There are a lot of great creators, most of us from the Chicago region.

Check it out here

This stuff is dope, Im glad you got it kickstarted. Are you going to participate in Void?

Thanks! I did a few battles many years ago, and recently got back to the site last year. I'd like to do some quick battles if time allows in the near future. For now, I just submitted some pages to the Pulpito anthology.

Grats on the success of your kickstarter! Not at all surprised either- the acidy 80's inspired color palate of your pages look tubular!

Thanks so much! I'm also glad to hear the word tubular. Need to use that more often.

The Kickstarter was a huge success, thanks to everyone who backed it from here! Books should be back from the printer in early-mid January and I'll be shipping them out after then.
