spit spat, time to chat / Original Tournament
« on: Jun 28, 2015, 05:50 AM »
Hey guys. Been awhile. Anyway I have a question for the vets (if any are still around). Is there somewhere I can find the original Void tournament info, (2003?) characters, etc?

You've been in Void too long if you DO remember that both myself AND RTV! both DID challenge Kyosho to death matches, which were instigated BY Kyosho, and then received NO response ever again from said Kyosho regarding the matter, other than his alternate reality version of how the events happened...I'll believe the talk when after 9 years of waiting, we ever actually see something come from you worth talking about. Get drawing. Be remembered for something awesome you did, and not problems and drama you were involved in.

I guess everyone has a version to their own story. Now that I look back on it I can't believe how sensitive we artists were back then, most of us being in our early teens. Took every remark and criticism harshly.

Dan, I still owe you a match. If you have the time, I'm down for a Kyosho vs Dan match. Let this be what they remember.

*You've been at Void to long when you remember Dan's chin on a milk carton, lol

* If you have had an encounter with Kyosho Unmei and got so pissed you challenged him to a Deathmatch and never saw him again.
When did that happen? Kinda wish I could've put RTV in the grave, lol.

There he goes again, hahaha. Nice to see some shit doens't change after 7 years.
I miss those days.

But i've been to the grave and got kicked out. They said it's reserved for you.
Still using the blur tool excessively? haha.

Yeah. Too bad our fight never happened. I always wanted to fight RTV, especially after that lame fight you had with Yoshin. Btw, the only fight I recall being offered as a Deathmatch was against Dan (maybe). He deserved a fight, too. Oh well.

Wow. I came up with this idea YEARS ago and Galvo shot me down. Great job Void. I guess I was before my time on that one.

Did you just come out after a gazillion years just to post that  ?

Lol, yup.

You guys can check out my stand-up comedy vid here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzEnnskyohQ

The audio is kinda poor though, so I apologize for that. As the title suggests it was my first time performing stand-up. Lemme know what you think.

Also, on a side note, I love watching great animation, so to you that posted those links - THANK YOU.

I would like to request a tutorial. I seen it once on DA, but I seem to have lost track of it. It was a coloring tutorial for Photoshop and one of the steps explained how to make your whites transparent and keep only the black lineart. So, thats what I'd like to learn how to do. How can I delete all the white and keep only my black lineart?

(I understand that I could use the magic selection tool and select the white and delete, but their way seemed a lot easier and the results came out cleaner. Anyone know how it was done?)

I think someone posted this already, but check out http://www.balloontales.com/tips/
They're professional, and have great tips. This is for Adobe Illustrator, and most of the tips are for Mac users (but if you're clever you can figure out how to do it on the PC version). I've been lettering this way, and I think it turns out great.

Aha, but there is more to it then that!

A good tutorial isn't just instructions. It's tips and tricks from people who use the techniques everyday.
Thinks to look out for, things to avoid.
Also keeping in mind, people who are reading the tutorial might be brand new to the software or material,
so what might seem straight forward to some, could be confusing to others.

There's a good article on hand-lettering at Blambot. Check it out:
http://www.blambot.com/handlettering.shtml

Also, since someone asked about how to do rain in Photoshop, here's an oldie from PolyKarbon:

Reviews / Re: So what comics are you reading?
« on: Sep 20, 2007, 11:25 AM »
I haven't been much for the new brand of comics the industry has been pumping out. I pick up mostly anything Chris Bachalo, and I'm waiting for Joe Mad's Ultimate. My manga fetish is dying so I'll probably get back into purchasing paperbacks (like everybody else). I'm really just re-reading a lot of my old books (X-men, Spiderman, etc). They get even better the next time you read them.

I just saw 300 (late, i know) and I thought that it was good, but not to the level of hype I was hearing/reading about. Made me want to work out really bad. As for TV, I'm looking forward to the new seasons of 'Lost' and 'Heroes' (next week!) Thats about it.

PS: I love Will Ferrel and Seth Rogan movies.
