GO FOR BROKE! / Re: Bo's art (NOW WITH EXTRA HITLER)
« on: Sep 05, 2009, 10:26 PM »
See ZSA, I can still hatch like I used to :P

Based on some really old photographs of baseball players from the american library of congress.
Expect to see some more studies made from old copyright free photos in the near future. I wanna level up my inking and shadowing skills before I ink my bb.

I also tried to work for a couple of hours with nibs earlier today (the pics above are all digital) and I gotta say Im dissapointed at how it doesnt really look anywhere close to as good as my digital art does. In due time I guess.

Oh and I started artschool last monday so I'll be posting some life drawings in that jam thread when I got afew more done.

Im all about the curves. I first used it after reading a quick tutorial and I never had any problems with it. They work fairly nice for color pictures aswell in my opinion.

Well Im not the best artist when it comes to these things but I think making the eyebrows  a little thicker might help some. Maybe removing the lipstick (this coming from an artist who also draws lipstick on men. so maybe you should get input from someone else before you change stuff :P)

Well men and women do look the same. Its all about the small details that makes us able to see a persons gender in the face.
You provided no suych things tho, so dont be suprised when less mature people will reply with things like "*fap fap fap*" :p (Dont think there are any people like that on this specific forum tho)

Ah this thread adressed some problems I had while trying one out yesterday. I will keep these things in mind.

I know, I just dont know how.

First non-digital stuff ive done in about two months.
Seems Ive picked up speed since I started using the tablet. And I do have to admit it is more fun to draw like this.

But at the same time I must say... I miss being able to undo errors :_(

Agh, you are completely right on every point. Although the saturated colors on the last panel BG was a concious choise, it was a bad choise tho.

I completely agree about the speedlines. Here is another test page I made today simply for trying out some different speedline techniques. I dont think I'll ink it, but its clear to me now that thick speedlines doesnt work very well.

(hmm, lots of people getting gutted lately.)

And yes, I'll definately try making more backgrounds from here on out. It's a big weakness I have. I seem not to know how zoomed in a picture should be to work to its fullest.

also this crappy facepalm sketch because I already have a post, so why not fill it.

Lots of experimentation, both in angles, layouts and coloring. Nothing worked out quite as I had imagined it, but it was a nice learning experience :)

You both drew parodies of yourself, well this is a very serious selfportrait, altho done with no reference, it captures how i look pretty much all the time.

Reviving this topic YO!

Some of the following styles worked better than others. But they were all first tries for me in those styles so I dont feel any of em were a complete failure.

This first one got pretty cruddy coloring and I dont know why but I completely forgot about having some contrast in it.

This one I just went with simple flats so I wouldnt screw it up.
