Introductory

now that SDT 2020 is over and done with its time to reveal the methodology of how to actually win! (or really just how I think I won). The purpose of creating this thread is not for me talk down on any other method (because more efficient methods will make themselves apparent sooner or later) or to talk down or criticize participants of any of the SDT's in the past, but rather to elucidate a vision of Void's real potential to churn out story-telling masters- by maybe perhaps starting a tradition of tournament winners of speaking frankly of their process and allowing people to take it or leave it, test it, improve upon it, or criticize it.

What I hope this would do is remove the mystery of how to get from point A to point B creatively and quicken the development of interest and also remove the fog of guesswork from the process. Experimentation and doing your own research will always be important to understanding how the creative process works for you and we cannot deny the importance of following the gut-hunches of the elusive intuition, what I'm proposing is doing all of the above more efficiently and intelligently through the dispensation of information that tournament winners can give to their fellows in order to make void even more than it is. That is all.

I'm going to use a lot of words such as "value" and "investment". I want to impress upon you readers that entertainment, ie, reading comics, is an energetic trade-off. You spend your good time on this mortal plane to create something that people will read, and those people will spend their own time upon this mortal plane, reading that comic. The trade off here is that they spend x amount of time for y amount of entertainment value, they're expecting an equivalent exchange with your product with energy that they will never get back. They will never get that time back, there's no refund on time. That is why for me it is critically important for you to begin understanding that you as a creator have a responsibility and that the sense of responsibility is encoded in how i use value and investment in what I'm going to say in this. So here we go.

GO FOR BROKE! / GORGON//webcomic
« on: Jul 01, 2014, 04:59 PM »
I took the first steps to executing my webcomic idea which is just called Gorgon as of now (until i can think of an awesomoar name). The concept is a Greek Cryptoxploitation, a made up genre that is similar to the grindhouse exploitation genres. The story follows Gorgon on her path for vengeance against the gods responsible for cursing her from human into the monster she now represents.
More concept art to come sooner/later. Stay tuned comrades!

spit spat, time to chat / Re-adapting Old Void battles
« on: Feb 23, 2014, 05:12 PM »
I was wondering if this is a thing that's benign or frowned down upon in the community. Is it alright to readapt old void battles that you created?
Strip away all the characters and void-related things and recreate it with different characters and different motifs. What are your opinions on this?

THE INCUBATOR / Adamantine
« on: Jul 08, 2013, 01:43 PM »

[previeeews...]

Name: Mandy Smith
Alias: Adamantine
Age: 16
Bio: She was born without powers nor special talents. She is not an orphan, nor does she belong to a prestigious bloodline. Her family has no dark secrets nor are they possessed by an ancient demon spirit. She is not an alien nor a genetically engineered bioweapon. She's an average teenager. All-in-all, Mandy's life is average. Her only problem is she lives in Void City.
Her dream is to become Void's greatest fighter and achieve the #1 rank in the fighter battle ranking system. This dream of hers was fed into her psyche from Void's ultraviolent fighter culture. From the cradle onwards, the tales of Void's rich warrior mythology, in all its glory and terror shaped young Mandy's mind and directed the focus of her passion to Struggle.

GO FOR BROKE! / Fuse Collab *updated 11/6
« on: Oct 09, 2009, 06:25 PM »
Some time ago i asked Corny if she wanted to collaborate with me on a webcomic idea called Shine (now called Fuse) in which Jong was the main character. Since then the original inception of Shine has changed to accomodate Corny's characters Tammy and Sammy since the duo seemed to go very nicely along with Jong as interacting character types (which was one of the main reasons i asked Corny to collaborate with me). Anyways this is the product of that collaboration, the prologue of Fuse (chapter 1 will feature both Jong and Tammy)

That was just a taste. The first actual chapter of Fuse is now being updated at http://fuse.smackjeeves.com/news/
btw, if anyone was wondering, Fuse is a totally different work than what you might expect from previous incarnations of the main characters in Void. The story, designs and even the main characters are all different, only that main characters retain more or less similar appearances and personality traits.
