I\'m kind of surprised at the comments, I didn\'t dislike the art in either one, in fact neile\'s nihilistic sense of art kind of saved the comic for me.  I say saved because both comics didn\'t completely connect with me.  If I had been more knowledgeable about the characters it probably would have helped, but in either case they both feel like only one part of a story.  Neile\'s is a third act without the first two and marin\'s is the first act without a second or third.

As it stands I\'m actually going tie.  One has a slight edge in art, the second a slight edge in story.  But that\'s compared to each other.

The big pages are quite a gaffe, but it didn\'t bother me too much.  In firefox there\'s a plug in called image zoom that lets you resize things with the mousewheel, and I use it for a lot of images as it is...

Sorry if this double posts, I\'m having some weirdness here.

Neile: either you don\'t realize what you\'re doing or you\'re full of shit...regardless don\'t try to minimize what people are telling you...you did a lot more than copy one pose from AP....your first and third page\'s are directly yanked from the comic and after that the comic is just sound effects and speedlines

and this is only the first comic posted...the first comic to be seen by the majority of people......Approvals and Council have been telling you the same thing for months....we don\'t expect -hall of fame-worthy material but we do expect you to take at least some of it to heart and not try to downplay what people are telling you.....and to be trying to move towards that level of quality

Man talk about tough love, I\'ve preety much read all the critics and I agree whit lots of you and to thoose thanks for the helpefull critics, I\'\'l try and repair that on my next batlle...
Now for the ones I don\'t agree I\'ve only ripped off Sheldon once, that panel where Manx is punching OCM, MMs pose is from armed philosophers and OCMs pose is from an early Charlie batlle, I see it like more of a homage then a rip off, but I\'m not gonna try and excuse myself.
As for Lysol, my style was greatly influenced by him and he is a great artist but I did not ripped him off, I read the entire comic again and I don\'t know what are you talking about, I think Philip is seeing stuff that isn\'t there or just trying to find more stuff to throw into his critic...
Now the colors I mean c\'mon I was sick of doing the same old colors and I wanted to try something new I tried diferent stuff and I enjoyed this blinding colors...
For thoose people who were expecting an awsome batlle, worthy off an hall of fame in void, I think that\'s kinda dumb... It was our first batlle, and for me like my second more than 2 pages comic...

Now for Mari man at least your comic had backgrounds, I\'m sorry about thoose huge pages, I think that\'s not really an art issue so just remember that on your next batlle...

Marinduguenio - what the hell, dude. Too long a wait to load, got stuck at the first half of page one, couldn\'t be arsed to wait for the rest of it.
Neile - I loved your character design. I still do. I\'m beating a dead horse here with all the previous comments, but backgrounds are a must when you\'re working in comics. Even a simple establishing shot would been nice. I don\'t mind much the disco colors or the sound effects, as much, if we could have had backgrounds too.

marin you actually got my votes at least there was some form of a story, Neile had me on too much of acid trip, not sure what the hell was going on

I really don\'t see the point critiquing either comic, this is just laziness all around with you two.

Neile: Bright colors that burn the eyes, ripped off poses and panels from Armed Philosiphers and Lysol\'s work, lack of backgrounds, sound effects covering up negative space and everything else, and more speedlines than the most steriotypical anime out there! You had 2 weeks on this fight, and this looks like something done in a day, and those colors... those colors are god awful! I feel like I\'m looking at a bad black light poster! Also, why the hell did you straight up copy Sheldon\'s and Lysol\'s shit? I know they\'re good artists, but don\'t fucking rip off stuff they\'ve done!

Marindu... fuck it, I\'ll say Mari: I\'m on dial up... that\'s the slowest connection out there, and it took me 3 hours to load this fight... 3 fucking hours. I was able to watch a movie, and clean up my pigsty of a room in that time! Lemme also say... clicking these pages wasn\'t worth it! The story was straight up boring, the pages were sloppily put together and everything looked like it was just sketched in in a day and toned on the next day. I gave you the vote but only because you actually had some backgrounds in there, despite having a close up view of how you drew everything.


Disappointing all around. Though I don\'t think the answer is more time, I think you guys just need to put forth some effort. One good page a day is all you really need to do, hell, 3 pages is the minimum requirement on void! All you need to do is 3 really good pages, and that can be done in a week.

Neile: Backgrounds man, backgrounds. The story that lead to the fight was kinda short and lacking. Where were they fighting? Why were the colors like a disco? Why did Jinney believe everyone was evil? It just didn\'t make sense to me really.

Marin: D: Too big of pages. The backgrounds felt sketchy and rushed. Read over your comic before you post it. You could\'ve used some sound effects for knocking on the last panel. Question: why were there no visible injuries on the two after the plane crash, that\'s a pretty traumatic event, even one with powers like most on void would be injured a little.

None of these comics made sense to me.

Should there really be comments after what Wei said? My sentiments exactly. I was really looking forward to this battle and was adequately disappointed. Neile, your character art is great, but your backgrounds (or lack therein) and storytelling is awful. While two fighters duking it out in a Void amusingly fits the theme of the site, it wont fly. Although I\'d love to get the shock effect brush you kept on using, all the ones I have are too small.

marinduquenio, I\'ve never been dissuaded by reading a comic, but this one, despite its mere four pages had me seriously considering not bothering. It really wasn\'t worth the 4 to 5 minutes I spent just trying to load the pages onto my screen. I wont repeat the critique that\'s already been made clear.

I am really surprised this battle went up- you guys can do better than this, I feel it in my sock bones!

Neile: ...okay... No background/story. My eyes hurt, thank you^^. Like Wei said about sound effects are not space-fillers nor backgrounds. I checked your intro pages and they had backgrounds. WHAT HAPPNED?

Marinduquenio: Two words:  shrink ray. Your comic is too big for my window at maxmized. I had to force myself to finish your comic! Sketchiness is not good either...

Nelle: Digging the eyehurt colours and the cartoony action, but I really had no idea where this was happening, or even why, really. Work on backgrounds, establishing shots, and story lead-ins.

Marinduquenio: Too Big; Didn\'t Read. Also, when you have us look at your linework that close-up, the faults become even more glaring. This looked like sketches, not finished work. Also, get someone to proofread your stuff before you submit, yhea? The typos turned me off from the parts that I did read.

First of all EVERYONE ignore the text links following the thumbs for marinduquenio\'s comic....there appears to be a bug in the new uploader which Kevin will be looking into

marinduquenio: your pages are WAY TOO BIG!!!!....suggested posting size is 800x800 pixels
beyond that this is just way too sketchy.....the majority of your panels are nothing more than thumbnails with screentones
I hope your next comic will have a longer deadline so you can spend more time drawing and less time in photoshop...this is just lazy and for the most part crappy

This is exactly why you were repeatedly declined by the Approval Commitee and also why your last comic was declined.....and this one is even worse. It\'s bad enough your comic seems to be about SFX and the things that happen around them....... but then you go and rip off Sheldon not once but twice

Both of you need to have longer deadlines so you can make a greater effort on your next comic.....because in all honesty comics with this level of quality won\'t be posted next time....you are both capable of much better than this.
