Help / Re: Questions About Void? Post Yours Here!

What do I do if I accidentally post twice on someone's comic? I didn't think I hit send but apparently I hit it twice. "orz

Don't worry about it. You can always "modify" the second comment to say something else if you really want but it happens, no one's going to mind

Okay! Phew. Thanks! :)

Thanks! Good to know and I'll def. keep those in mind when drawing.

One last question: Some of the characters have "winning" and "losing" poses- are those a part of the submissions for characters, or are those just from the old website?

The Winning and Losing poses were for a feature to be implemented that never was.  So it's an artifact of a bygone era.  But enough people have it so it sticks.  It's not essential and basically if you want to do it for fun, you can.

So we can still do it for fun? Awesome! Thanks so much! :D

New here? / Re: INTRODUCE YOURSELF
« on: Jan 07, 2013, 10:19 AM »
Hey there! Might as well introduce myself since I'm working on joining with one of my OCs.

Name's Era Lanke [my penname], but I go by Kodi as well. I'm a current student at Kansas City Art Institute, previous student at Kendall College of Art and Design, and I'm working on becoming an animator!

Spent 3 years at KCAD just getting basics in and taking a TON of drawing classes and conceptual studies. I wish I didn't have to transfer, but the animation program there wasn't working for me so I found the one at KCAI and thought I might as well go if I really want to do animation! And what do you know, IT'S AWESOME! But enough about colleges and the woes of adult life.

I run a few roleplay blogs on tumblr, as well as an ask/rp blog for the OC I plan on introducing here. Working on writing several series and stories, but I'm having trouble picking which story to go with first. <____< I have too many ideas for an entire lifetime and too many characters to handle!

But aside from that, I'm trying to get better at my backgrounds and scenery, as well as comic layout/story depiction. First and foremost, though, I'm joining VOID finally (after making my account in 2007 and then forgetting about it for years) to make myself do personal work on a deadline! While I look forward to fights and exploring action, I really need to get better at sticking to deadlines and I hoped I could use some of the Beyond Battles to help me focus on getting my own work done and training myself to do so on my own! If that's okay. uvu

<3 All in all I'm stoked to be here and I look forward to drawing for you guys in the future! :D

I have a few questions! Mostly because I can't figure out how to use the new site because it's been AAAGES since I was here uAu;

>What size, absolutely, do the design sheets have to be? I found "around 800 pixels squared," but is there an absolute size they cannot be? Is it bad if some are a little over that? I assume width-wise it's for the forums so as not to stretch, but is it bad if it's a little taller? I need to practice drawing small again u___u or just shrinking down my stuff once it's done.

>One of the admins mentioned that you can do anything for a comic. Is there a place I can find specific guidelines on handling NSFW or 18+ stuff? I don't necessarily want to just come in here and draw porn, but the character I would like to submit has a habit of being naked often and I didn't want to get in trouble/wanted to know if there was a censorship or age-protection thing going on here. As an artist I sometimes forget nudity can be offensive so I just want to make sure in case I do something wrong LOL

>Once more, what are the dimensions of the comics? It's 800 wide by... is it 1000 tall for max? xAx;

>I know ideally you're supposed to post finished stuff in the Incubator, but I was wondering if I could post a "polished" and colored rough just to get the idea/feedback before I lineart and finish it up? It's alright to do that, yes? Considering my lineart takes me hours and I don't want to lose some time having to go back and fix stuff [especially if it's major] if I have to. Time conservation, really! I hope that's ok.

>ONE LAST THING- phew! I'm currently going to college, but I'm on my winter break as of now. I know production of comics will come to an extreme slow when school starts back up, so I was wondering... We don't have to post a certain amount of drawings a day/week or whatever, right? It's just when we get challenged? Because I would absolutely LOVE to join and practice my deadline AND comic skills (I'm bad at managing personal deadlines so VOID could really help me out) but I can't promise I can be 100% active when not in a battle. ;____;

Thanks! I look forward to submitting a character! [Edited because I forgot to finish a sentence <___<]
