« on: Sep 27, 2013, 11:55 AM »
AYO it's time.

OCT. 12 + 13th
THE CONCOURSE
SOMA
SF
THA BAY

https://secure.comic-con.org/ape

Alternative Press Expo aka tha thrilla in vinyalla aka the APE ESCAPE aka Comic City Block Party aka Sweet Ink Sludgetown aka I wish I was Big Ghost but I'm not as good at this shit as he is, IS OPENING BADGE SALES.

Tables are once again expensive as a mofo, and you will have had to had wrestled everyone in the wait list line with your teeth if you want one.

However I highly recommend at least going to APE if you want to see all of the freshest that the Bay has to offer in comics and craft (and more--them Nor'Westers keep creeping in on us year after year.) GIANT ROBOT, Last Gasp, FANTAGRAPHICS, SLG, Cartoon Art Museum, Image, they're all here.

Featured this year at APE are:

Colleen Coover, Eisner Award-winning artist and co-creator (with husband Paul Tobin) of Bandette
Bill Griffith, the legendary creator of Zippy the Pinhead
Anders Nilsen, author and artist of the graphic novels Big Questions, The End, and Dogs and Water, among others.
Diane Noomin, creator of DiDi Glitz and editor of the Twisted Sisters anthologies of women cartoonists.
Raina Telgemeier, the author and illustrator of the graphic novels Smile and Drama, both #1 New York Times bestsellers.
Paul Tobin, Eisner Award-winning writer and co-creator (with wife Colleen Coover) of Bandette
Ron Turner, Bay area comix and publishing legend behind Last Gasp
Dan Vado, SLG Publshing head and APE founder

Also don't forget to stop by ZEBRATRON's booth, as they have the greatest setups.

This will be the last year APE is held at the concourse. Every year, it gets bigger and bigger, so it's gonna be moving on to a new home next year. Catch it now before it goes!

Regionals / KRAKEN CON (and other Tiny Nor Cal Cons General)
« on: Sep 27, 2013, 11:45 AM »
sssssSSSSO Kraken Con 2013 is a go for both me and pineapple-pocky! Who's going? Christopher Sabat and Flame Princess' voice actress are guests there, and it's looking like it's going to have a pretty good artists' alley. It's a first time con, but we'll see how it goes.

WHAT IT SAY WHAT IT DO. I know there's a lot of us here, and three voiders live within shouting/rock heaving distance away from me (okay, a little more then that, but still!)

Rrrrreeeeport in!

THIS SURE IS A THING THAT'S HAPPENING.

HOLY SHIT WE'VE GOT TIMES AND PLACES.

So I'll be probably busy as fuck--I'm helping a friend with two panels--one where we riff terrible music videos  from japanland on friday, one on WEIRD MANGA on sat, there's a Tokusatsu cosplay meet also @12 PM sat, and the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure cosplay meet on either friday or sunday-- but I'll try to make a Void Jam meet happen once more.

SO HOW DOES SUNDAY 12 PM SOUND TO YALLS? We can meet up at my table in artist's alley and then go to get lunch or something.

Art Jams / Void Crossing Jam!
« on: Aug 02, 2012, 10:10 PM »
Welcome to Void Town! Draw void characters as animal crossing characters!

Need an example? Why not look at this thing that I totally drew already for an entirely different jam? http://isthistakenalready.tumblr.com/post/28600668285/done-for-the-cute-animal-jam-on-entervoid-i

Make like Madonna once said and STRIKE A POSE. Put your character in high fashion clothing, and try to pose them as if they were in a photoshoot or on the runway, artsy party--you get the deal. Street fashion (and lolita, and otome-kei, and on and on) can come, too!

Ehren/M-Zero-Oh in Yohji Yamamoto men's winterwear (albeit in a way brighter colorway than a Yohji piece)
