News & Events / Light Speed Death Tournament
« on: Aug 24, 2021, 10:56 AM »
What are you doing? Hurry up! Time is running out, go go go! It’s time for the

Entervoid’s fastest tournament is back! Where Speed battles challenge you to finish a comic within one week, Light Speed battles dare you to put up your dukes with a hyperfast 4 day drawing period and 3 day voting period, with a 3 page max limit per comic. This means whole battles are decided in a single week in bite size portions! Are you tough enough to rip through a bloodbath of four rounds per month? Can you handle the crunch to become the Death Racer??

SIGNUPS BEGIN: Monday 8/23
SIGNUPS END: Saturday 8/28
TOURNAMENT START: Monday 8/30

BATTLE RULES
-1v1 Death Battle (must show your opponent’s character die/dying or implied death, or your comic will not be uploaded and you will default. Any unclear death will be judged on a case-by-case basis by staff to determine qualification, but better not to push your luck)
-4-day drawing time
-3-page max. Uploading 4 or more pages will result in a default. Stacking multiple pages into a single file is not allowed. These comics are meant to be short, and we will default you if you attempt to skirt the rules.
-3-day voting period
-Collab teams not allowed
FINAL ROUND NOTE: The final round will be 1 week drawing time with no limit on page count. Whoever makes it that far, save your epic finale energy for then!

PARTICIPANT QUALIFICATIONS
-Any living character in your roster can qualify, including Battle Pass characters
-You can make a new character for the tournament
-Borrowed living characters are allowed
-If you haven't made a character for Void yet you can create one with just the character sheet for this, no intro comic needed. Make sure to label the Character Type as Tournament when you make your character.

ROSTER SIZE
-Unlimited
NOTE: EXPECT RANDOMLY FORMED 3-WAY BATTLES IF THE ROSTER SIZE DOES NOT MAKE A STANDARD BRACKET. REMEMBER: THE LARGER THE ROSTER, THE LONGER THE TOURNAMENT

« on: Sep 21, 2020, 10:24 AM »
Grab a partner and-.. what’s that? Your partner’s dead? Well pick ‘em up and drag ‘em over here anyway, for 2020's final official tournament:

The Tag Team Tournament is a **regular 2-week drawing time tournament** where two artists join together with one character each (that's two characters) to take on opposing duos round after round. This is a special event known for high quality comics as artists apply their greatest strengths together to do more than what they ever could on their own. And this year we’re taking it to a special new level: Starting alongside Month of the Dead, **You can enter with either a living or a dead character. The team composition can be two living, two dead, or one living and one dead, it’s entirely up to you and your partner! **

This tournament is open to all members with good recent records (no chronic defaults/incompletes, good behavior, etc. at the staff's discretion), with a maximum roster of 8 teams. Cuts will occur to keep to 8 teams.

You and your partner are free to pair up in any capacity you choose. The collab could be writer/artist, artist/colorist, first half/second half, or anything in between. You are only limited by what you two decide for yourselves.

Aside from two artists with two characters, you can also choose to write and draw for one character or a shared character if that is your preference. Borrowed characters are only allowed if the character is dead. Battlepass characters are allowed.

The winners will receive the Tag Team Tournament: Living Dead Party God title for their characters!

**SIGNUP START**
9/22/20

**SIGNUP END**
10/02/20

**TOURNAMENT START**
10/04/20

**MAX PARTICIPANTS ALLOWED**
8 teams (16 artists)

**HOW TO SIGN UP**
Sign up by writing you're doing so here with a character profile link and your character sheet and who you plan to partner up with. Your partner must then confirm the partnership with a post of their own. **Only once both teammates have confirmed will you be added to the roster**

Gotta kill fast! Sharpen your focus and hasten your resolve, the quick killing, bloodletting tradition you all know and love is back!

The Speed Death Tournament is a one-on-one theme-less death tournament with 1 week drawing deadlines, simple as that! The winner of the tournament gains the Speed Death Tournament 2020 Champion title! This battle houses a big tent too: There are no plans to cut anyone from the roster so long as they properly follow the guidelines for submitting their character, but be prepared as a potentially large tournament could last a while and include surprise 3-way matches! You can use a living character from your roster, borrow one from a willing artist, or make one for the tournament. If you’re a new member, a character you submit and use in this tournament (without a default) will earn you a Battle Pass! No artist teams are allowed. Signups begin now and the deadline is January 18th, with the first round beginning on January 20th. Sign up only requires 2 steps: character sheet and name added to this thread or the discord, and submitting said character (if they are new) on the site, making sure to check the Tournament box.

Storm those brains and make sure your engines are ready come signup deadline!

Fast Facts

« on: Jul 11, 2019, 06:22 PM »
First up major apologies to the participants of this event; I've had a lot happening on my end back to back to back but I can now finish the final evaluations for you guys

It was a tough ordeal and sadly no one was able to achieve completion of all three rounds, but there's good news and more good news:

Based on the reporting by the coaches, most of you made some kind of progress through the event, learning to take a closer look at your strengths and weaknesses and how to capitalize on the former and mitigate the latter. Even if the results are mixed, understanding your weak points is an important first step to improvement. In the case of Orion, we could see a clear gradual improvement from round to round, congratulations on really applying your lessons.

The other good news is that you still have a chance to receive your Bootcamp Round Robin Graduate title, with one of you still eligible for the Valedictorian title. All that needs to be done is pull yourself off the ground and release a Beyond Battle of any comic that you have incompleted or defaulted on. You can do this at your own pace, and once it's done your title will be waiting for you. Below we will list which participants require what for completion:

Orion: You need only complete round 1's comic and you will receive your title. It was already mostly done so this should be an easy task for you.

Stylo: You received an incomplete marker for all three rounds, so you will have to finish all three comics to earn your title. All three comics are 50-80% complete though, so while it may seem daunting, this should be doable in a couple of weeks for you.

Astrosean: Since you defaulted on the final round, but completed your previous two matches, simply submit a Beyond Battle comic of what would have been your match vs your last opponent to gain your title.

Yarnwitch: Your second round match is incomplete and you defaulted in the final round, so completing the second round comic and  submitting a Beyond Battle comic of what would have been your match vs your last opponent will let you attain your title.

Any of you are allowed and welcome to try and submit all three comics together as one 3-chapter Beyond Battle if you feel like going back and polishing all three, this can go a long way in helping one of you attain the Valedictorian title, and as someone who has done this in the past I highly recommend the practice as the satisfying sense of completion is a good motivator to develop for future projects.

This was the first event of its kind and I hope to refine and release a new event like this in the future to keep helping you guys achieve your dreams of defeating deadlines and completing your great stories, thank you participants and coaches for your hard work

We the coaches have completed our review of the comics for round 2 of the Round Robin Event, and have determined who among the four students have officially passed this round.

AstroSean and Orion, congratulations, your comics pass the bar for being considered “complete”. Astrosean, you are still eligible for the Bootcamp Round Robin Graduate title moving forward. Orion, once you resubmit Set 1’s battle completed, you will be on your way as well.

Yarnwitch, even with the few pages you submitted you were able to get a strong idea down quickly, but the briefness of events and the fact that the last page is missing what the others have visually is evident that it’s not finished. Unfortunately your comic as it is now does not qualify as “complete” for the purposes of this event.

Stylo, the thing that probably became one of the biggest obstacles for you this round is that you ended up creating a comic that is even bigger than the last one, when you have yet to complete a comic of Set 1’s size within this event. Essentially, there are still some lessons that need to be learned and applied before increasing your workload past your current limits. That being said, we understand that health issues also struck you hard on the last day and we’re more concerned with your health and happy that you’re doing better. Don’t ever beat yourself up over incomplete material that is stalled because of your health, no one is going to expect you to literally hurt yourself in order to submit a finished comic nor would anyone want to. As you know, your comic as it is now does not qualify as “complete” for the purposes of this event.

Orion, Yarnwitch and Stylo, while you are currently ineligible for the Bootcamp Round Robin Graduate title, there is still a chance to attain the title: Your makeup assignment will be to finish and re-release your incomplete comics as a completed Beyond Battles. Once this is done, as long as you’ve completed the final round, the Graduate title is yours (and your Beyond Battle score will replace your incomplete comic’s score in terms of determining who attains the Valedictorian title).

The next round will begin very soon, so all participants get ready!

We the coaches have completed our review of the comics for round 1 of the Round Robin Event, and have determined who among the four students have officially passed this round.

Astrosean and Yarnwitch, congratulations, your comics pass the bar for being considered “complete”. You are still eligible for the Bootcamp Round Robin Graduate title moving forward.

Orion, your comic is missing text in pages that were meant to have it (an uploading error yes, but organization for the finish line is also important), your fine pencils are not clean enough and the lack of shading/spot blacks to fill the panels is evident. Unfortunately your comic as it is now does not qualify as “complete” for the purposes of this event.

Stylo, your unique style of painting is wonderful when you have enough time to fully render an image, but your strokes in some of these panels are so random-seeming and haphazard-looking that it comes off as a rough draft and not a final product. Some shapes are difficult to understand without context, some panels cannot be easily read upon a first or second glance. This is a unique situation, understand that the coach team was quite split on this comic and you may have noticed that that opinion rings true for other members. We all acknowledge though that at the end of the day the reaction to the final product trumps the intentions of the artist when it is being graded by others. It was ultimately decided that if it’s this difficult to determine whether a comic looks complete or not, there is some failure of execution that must be recognized and addressed moving forward. Therefore, unfortunately your comic as it is now does not qualify as “complete” for the purposes of this event.

Orion and Stylo, while you are currently ineligible for the Bootcamp Round Robin Graduate title, there is still a chance to attain the title: Your makeup assignment will be to finish and re-release your comic as a completed Beyond Battle. Once this is done, as long as you’ve completed your other two rounds, the Graduate title is yours (and your Beyond Battle score will replace your incomplete comic’s score in terms of determining who attains the Valedictorian title).

The next round will begin very soon, so all participants get ready! If you have any questions feel free to ask us directly

Do you feel like you have a wealth of ideas you wanna put to page but have all the trouble with actually getting pages out to begin with? Do you find yourself unable to finish your comic battles more often than not? Don’t lose hope, let our experienced coaches help you figure out how to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps with the very first

Based on the successful training program started by Angieness and continued by PyrasTerran, where we help members develop the time management skills needed to get a full comic out for a battle without resorting to too many late nights and last minute submissions. The Bootcamp Round Robin Event is designed to train four participants in a simulated three round bracketed tournament through a brand new format to enterVOID: The Round Robin.

A round robin format is a tournament design in which each of the four participants faces each other once, regardless of win or loss, so everyone has three battles by the end (under normal competitive circumstances, the contestant who won the most battles or accrued the most points would then be the victor of a round robin).

This gives every participant the opportunity to create three comics as if they managed to reach the finals of a tournament, able to tell their whole arc story in its entirety (or stick to episodic stand alone ideas, the choice is yours). For this tournament, each battle will be a two-week drawing period.

And since this is a Bootcamp event, each contestant will be randomly assigned a coach (could be me, could be another member) who will provide their participant with a schedule to help reach a completed comic, as well as help with scripting and art critique however the coach sees fit. The coach’s primary goal first and foremost is to help you figure out a good time management plan so that you can improve on your speed and completion skills, which in turn will give you less stress in future battles and let you focus more on other elements of improvement. This system has been pretty successful in previous Bootcamp projects and we’re excited to see how we can help other artists with their completion rate.

Now, because this is an event designed more for personal growth than for competition, you don’t have to feel too much pressure on your character’s rankings as every battle will be registered as a sparring match, lowering the pressure of those stakes should help you focus on solid completed comics. And since the voting period does not mean anything since everyone will be fighting everyone once anyway, the break period between battles will be 3 days, instead of a whole week, as we don’t have to wait for voting periods to end. This means that even though each battle is a 2 week drawing period, the entirety of the event will be closer to the tournament duration of a speed death tournament. If there is a serious conflict in schedule, the break period between battles can be extended or shortened by a day or two if both parties agree to it.

Every participant who is able to make three completed comics will earn the official title of Bootcamp Round Robin Graduate. The participant who manages this and also earns the most wins or average score (in the event of a tie) will receive the title Bootcamp Round Robin Valedictorian. There is no penalty if you are unable to complete a comic, you can still continue on to your next two battles. In the event that you are unable to continue working on battles, your character will still be added to the next match for your opponent to make a comic off of (since these are sparring matches, even if you default, it will not affect you). In this specific situation alone, you are allowed to let any other member who is willing, to take your place using your character for that battle. Of course, if they complete a comic in your stead it will not count towards the Graduate or Valedictorian title.

If we get four participants in time, the event begins April 21 (we may push it back if we need more time to gather four participants). If you wish to sign up, do so on this thread along with your character of choice (you may choose your own living character or borrow a living one from another member with their permission). You cannot swap out characters between rounds, though. We will be looking for participants who we feel will benefit most from this program. If you are not selected, chances are high that we feel you are good enough that you don’t need our guidance as much! But you can always sign up for the regular Bootcamp regimen that PyrasTerran runs in any case.

Wherever she goes, she inspires the darkness in peoples' hearts. She draws people into her circle, feeling like she's the solution to their problems, but everyone who associates with her somehow always ends up dead, or worse. Her hellhounds will hunt her enemies to the ends of the earth.

News & Events / EnterVoid Grading System Discussion
« on: Mar 06, 2019, 10:10 AM »
hey everyone, we recently sent out a survey concerning entervoid's voting/grading system and asked you your thoughts on how it's doing and what we can do to improve it. We decided the results of this survey should be made public so that everyone can see what the general population of the site tends to think about how the voting categories are defined, and opinions on its effectiveness. Through discussion with everyone we hope it benefits the members to think on how the majority are defining the categories and what we can do to clarify sections so even more people are voting with the same ideas in mind. For those of who you feel it is unfair, now is your chance to give a voice to your grievances and see what we can do about improving the system for everyone

Concerning the short answer portion: The number one suggestion was adding a fourth writing section, and the number two suggestion was greater clarification of the three categories.

A Retribution-based Beyond Battle is in the works that will be taking the events of Election Royale and rocking the foundations of the event, leading us on the path to the Final Act. For the purposes of keeping points and events organized, until this Beyond Battle is released, all Retribution battles moving forward will be considered having happened before the election. Points can still be accrued in the regular way for now, but the way the game is played will change after this beyond battle is released. For those of you who want to tell Retribution stories post-election, please try to keep your ideas to before the Smile is sworn in as mayor, as we work to build towards Retribution's climax moving forward. If you start a Retribution battle but the deadline happens to be after the Beyond Battle is released, your points accrument will remain on the older system before the new rules are implemented.

Essentially, consider the current Retribution battle rules to be on a time limit now; I can't give an estimate of when the Beyond Battle will be released, it could be a couple months or longer, but for those of you still on the fence about participating in Retribution or working with it further, the window is shrinking.
