I fail at resizing (I was showing this to a graphic deisgn buff friend of mine for tips on text placement), but WIP of the cover splash for an upcoming BB which should help set the stage for the Dreadnought and Angie MONSTER BRAWL.

Edit: found a smaller version. wooo

Airbrushes make your art look mnuddy. You do have a degree of color sense, which is nice, but don't use airbrushes. BAD! BAAAD >:E

Sure. You can grab some typing paper, draw on it, ink it, scann it and color it on photoshop. That's how I did my comic :3

I'm not familiar with corel painter essentials. But as long as you can find a "pen" "ink" tool you should be fine. Or do what angie does and do it by hand, scan and color it :3

Can't wait to see what you push out next!!

Personally, I'd avoid using textures in your work, especially if you're newish to digital art. You said you have a bamboo right? That means you probably got Photoshop Elements bundled up in there too, right? Consider checking that program out and as Wei suggested, definitely get some pin-ups and comic pages going. You should also be coloring in your lines and not leaving any white space/scribbles. Get the basics of nice, solid lines (instead of sketchy ones) and filling in flats, then pick it up and start doing shading and other cool effects.

Keep progressing though, you're on a hot streak!

TEMPTATION TEMPTATION TEMPTATION.

I'm going to a housewarming party that day. But we'll probably end up drinking and artjamming.

Thanks Angie! :D Shading dog faces are the bane of my existence. Though I should just do some studies on my own dog since my personal character's species is the same as hers (German Shepherd).

But yeah I definitely came to void to improve on all fronts. The coloring part, I work on that all the time, on personal art, commissions and anything in between.

Oh, and @Cherubas,

Blending modes are kind of a crutch IMO. It's best to understand shading by doing it naturally (like say you're painting, do all your painting in one color layer) and once you get the hang of that, you can use blending modes (like multiply, screen, hard/soft light, etc) to your advantage.

Wow, that's only making my art mojo hunger even more for me to draw. I've always been passionate about CG coloring more than any other part of my art  Which can be a bit problematic I guess haha.

I figured I'd share my results with trying Angie's cuts method. The lines were done by Seel/Dingo. Friend commissioned her to draw this.

And I did it over livestream too haha, but I'd have to run to the studio thing and download it and cut some of the fat from it.

But shyeah. Bookmark'd this thread forever,

Is it bad that I thought the rocks in the sakura pic were summoning stones? Too much WoW for me.

But yeah, the lack of hilights definitely make it more natural and still eye pleasing. While the candy one looks nice, it wouldn't do good to convey more serious and meaningful tones. More like cheerful situations and settings.

It's nice to see you posting again tho :3

« on: Sep 07, 2010, 08:35 AM »
Glad I'm not the only one who's had a character since forever haha
I've actually had my character since I was... 12? 13? but at first, she was only text, then the drawings were lost, then I stopped drawing... so I dont have an evolution of  her...

...Is it wrong that I like Exanon's first and third drawings better?

Awwww shucks :///3

Except the scales look retarded in the first one and he has a lopsided titty in the third one xD
