Just read the first two trades of Y: The Last Man in one sitting.

Good stuff. Highly recommended.

Your people are looking better than ever (except that dog-head dude, who seems to have two left hands), but your background/landscape stuff could use the same level of practice that you've given the human(oid) form. Maybe try some more drawings with no people in them, just to practice the shapes of other things (cars, buildings, lamps, whatever).

You strike me as one of the most dedicated artists on this site. You're always receptive to crits, always eager to learn, and, most importantly, always drawing. Keep up the good work.

30 Days was rad as well. I actually liked it (gasp!) better than the comic.

Nice dappling! It totally looks like she's standing in the shade of some tree's canopy.

CSS or Cansei de Ser Sexy. Brazilian dance indie that doesn't take itself too seriously. Has a token dude instead of a token chick.

I always filter the minutia. Just because you think it's insignificant doesn't mean I do.

VOID Characters and Comics / Re: Challenges Thread

Does it have to be authorized? Can't people just set up the battles themselves?

I like the idea of a spur-of-the-moment tourney.

I've been watching America's Next Top Model every Wednesday. Not my usual fare by any means, but my friend Sarah whom I went to school with for like six years is one of the contestants, so I pretty much HAVE to watch. I have to admit, I'm kind of getting into it.

Resources & Tutorials / Re: Creating a Tridimensional Character
« on: Oct 10, 2007, 05:36 PM »
Filling out a form will not help you make a three-dimensional character. This is possibly the most uninspired, prosaic, and banal character creation method I have ever seen.

Creating a character that seems real, that reacts in real ways to situations, that has all the ideosyncracies of a real person, involves treating them like a real person in your head. Try filling out this form for yourself, or for someone you know. I bet you'll feel pretty stupid doing it. The list doesn't capture any of the nuances of a person, or the ways that aspects of a personality might blend together or be hard to define discretely, and these are EXACTLY the things that make us three-dimensional.

This method is a cop-out. Don't use it.

I just hit up the Vancouver International Film Festival and saw "London to Brighton," which was a total gut-punch of a movie.

http://www.l2b-themovie.co.uk/l2b.html

It includes a pedophile getting stabbed in the balls, which is nice.

I read WE3! The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was a standalone! I wanted to see moremoremore.

Anyone here into Love and Rockets? I just picked up the first volume recently (Maggie the Mechanic), and I totally love it. It uses old-fashioned Flash Gordon-style comic aesthetics, but then throws in a bunch of swearing and nudity and dykes.

Well, you've hit upon a working strategy, so why change it?

I hope that song takes you to fame and glory.
