Kubo
race: unknown
Age: 2000+
First created: 2003 (poster here 2005)
His story has changed a lot over the years but he is still a laid back jaded hero who cares about the people around him. He was originally created as the ultimate weapon for war but fought against it, wanting to find the peaceful path when possible. Originally his powers were a bit nebulous, not having a solid set or parameters but I think I’ve defined him a great deal even though he is still retired. Hey, you never know, he might come back.

The first pic is the original design sheet when I submitted Kubo here in 2005. A month ago I designed to revamp his sheet and drew the second pic.

Meet Alexander “Lexi” Graves, a 14 year old girl who attends the Armstrong School for the Violently Gifted, a magnet school for potential mercenaries and assassins. While out finishing a homework assignment (assassinating a random Void City politician) she discovered among his possessions a strange looking egg. When she went to pick it up, it began to hatch and King was born. As thanks, the baby kaiju offered Lexi a bit of his powers, allowing her to transform into a powerful magical girl! Lexi can transform King into a weapon for her to fight with or a 50 foot monster. When King is in his ‘battle form’ the kaiju can swallow Lexi and store her in his chest gem where she can control him moves.

I’m still looking for a team mate so message me if you are interested!

I like the idea of it being a game night where our characters are playing D&D so we can get their reactions inside and out of the dungeon crawl. Right now I have a retired character and one in the incubator. Not sure which one I would use but I'm totally in.

THE INCUBATOR / Wendigo
« on: Jan 10, 2019, 08:42 AM »
Hello! Its been a very long time since I've had an active character here on Void, but over the last year I've been itching to return. After lurking the forums and chatting on Discord I've finally decided to through my hat in the ring with a new character idea.

Meet Wendigo, a genetically grown super soldier, crafted to become the greatest fighter Void City has ever seen. Over the last two decades, Dr. Frowler has been studying and analyzing every major fight that has happened in our great city, taking all that data and feeding it into the ever growing mass of flesh that would eventually become Wendigo. He is a bloodthirsty killer with a penchant for eating his victims. His main abilities are your basic super package (durability and strength) and is super cold to the touch, but what makes him special are his homunculi. After eating a good chunk of another being, Wendigo can throw-up a small replica of his victim. The main reason for this is to replicate that person's abilities. With a bite or a lick of blood, Wendigo can create a homunculus with one aspect of a target's powers or maybe a weaker version of that power. With a giant chunk (such as a bunch of fingers or a foot) he can make a homunculus with a powerful version of one power. If he eats the whole target, the homunculus retains all their abilities, their memories, and their personality. These creatures are subservient to Wendigo and don't do too much on their own without direct orders from their master (except for those created from an entire person). For Wendigo to truly use their powers he must re-ingest the homunculus. Each homunculus resembles their donor in appearance, and when Wendigo swallows one, he too takes on some of those physical traits (hair and skin color, maybe skin patterns). Wendigo can hold a limitless amount of homunculi inside him however, there are side effects in doing so. The fragments of each's personalities begin to clash, driving him insane, which might not make much difference to anyone else. Wendigo, however does not like those invasive feelings and so tries to limit the amount of homunculi he uses at a time, preferring to swap them out when needed.

How I would like to handle this power in my comic battles is through scar matches and trophy matches. If I were to win a scar match, Wendigo would leave some sort of nasty bite mark and create a minor homunculus (one with a single part of my opponent's power set). In a trophy match, Wendigo would actually permanently steal one of those powers from his opponent and his homunculus would have a stronger copy of that power. A death match would award him with a homunculus with the defeated fighter's full power set and their memories and personality.

I was planning on starting him out with only one homunculus, that of his creator Dr. Fowler, who he ate after being freed. I am not sure on his costume yet; I'm thinking this red one-piece was what he came out of the vat wearing so maybe he'll have another outfit. My into comic would cover his release from the vat, his murder of Dr. Fowler and the creation of his Fowler homunculus.

I am very excited to hear what you think and am ready for any critiques you may have!

I like this design sheet a lot!  But I do have two hangups.  The bat face form is a little hard to see.  At least on the screen I'm on.  This is common for digital artists who are used to the colors on their own brightened screen but sometimes these colors don't show up the same to everyone due to different monitors.  So I'd be careful.  I'd lighten up the colors a little so we can at least appreciate the details of the bat form.  My second hang up is her shortened forms showing her throughout the ages.  It's cute!  But it gave me an initial impression that was short which conflicted with the 5'8 tall info.  Maybe you don't need to change it or anything but it did confuse me for like a second.  Otherwise I think this is cool and I can't wait to see what your intro comic looks like.

I agree with you about the darkness of the bat's face. I think lightening it up a bit and maybe bringing down the saturation of her fur should keep her looking dark but still allow the details to register. By the way, I am in love with your style, her facial expressions are great. Will you be using both body proportions in your comics?

This looks really cool, and I can't waits for a closer shot of her face. I love the sword designs, are each of them a different sword or does it shift between the colors?

This is a really exciting character design. I'd move to see various headshots with different expressions that she makes. Do you work completely digital?

The Grogge Shoppe (Kubo vs Kid & Kubo vs Zaff)

This is a little british pub that resides on one of the many semi-busy streets of Void City.  It is owned by a very large middle-aged, scottish man, the bartender is 20 year old swetish punk girl named Kiwi, and the bouncer is her father Sven. The first floor has a bar and a dozen round tables. The second for has four studio apartments, one is the owner's, one is being rented out by Kiwi and her father, the other is rented out by Kubo, and the last one is vacant. It is a Pro-furrie astablishment where anyone is welcome.
