Scarn, The art was pretty good, just keep working on anatomy and perspective. The story seemed kind of cliche anime and really didn't hold my interest. It seemed more like a lecture of the various projects.

I have seen the whole "mysterious corporation" creating scientific experiments that eventually try to seek revenge on their makers idea in a lot of stories. What reminded me of anime was the handling of it, it seemed like a really dull dialogue talking about cloak and dagger corporations and various projects. Its just a theme that I have seen waaaay too much of in ideas such as resident evil, frankenstein, ultraviolet, universal soldier and a bunch of other stuff. Its a very valid theme, and I don't know if its just that I, personally, have seen it too often. But the delivery kind of bored me and seemed overtly explanitory and they way they met seemed highly contrived. Which reminded me of anime. Um, I hope this makes sense....

Thanks Michael, I don't watch/read anime all that much, so could you tell me what was cliche about it?

Robo, I really liked the art, the characters were grea, but I wished you had used a ruler and perspective in some places. I really hated the story, it just kinda seemed like a cop-out.

I appreciate the words Angie. While the backgrounds weren't an afterthought, I agree that I could have done more in terms of line-widths and shading. Something I'll have to pay more attention too come my next battle.
Oh, and I intend to stick around. I just can't predict when I'll have the time to do another battle. Hopefully soon.

Robosockmonkey-I found the art very cute and your pencils were fairly nice. It may have helped to toy with your levels a little to make them a little darker but what you had was fine and easy to read. I liked that you went with something a little different instead of the traditional Void city setting and you could have done a lot more for this. But I was extremely confused about that ending, it really jumped around and I was all like "wha..?" I'm assuming you just ran out of time but what you had was very nice artistically.
Scarn-Now those are some lovely inks, you really have improved a ton since the last time I saw your work. Really the only thing weak I noticed artistically was you have these beautifully rendered characters while the backgrounds kind of look like an afterthought and don't have near as much attention given to them. Granted I can understand not going all out for the sake of easy readability but I felt that there really wasn't much to them. I found the story very interesting and I really want to see more so I hope you intend on sticking around.

- oh, and thx RTV! I'm still figuring out this whole comic thing. One day I'm going to have a healthy balance of art and story.

Haha, I like your take on my character, pulling his coat away to reveal his vials like an old western draw, I never would have thought of that! very clever. I also love that his coat is very poncho- like.

Robo -
That was cute and funny! Wish it were longer though.
Good to see not everything is set in Void City or you stick to the original character looks. Like you said "imagination".
And i loved it.
Scarn -
I really dug the backstory. The dialogue can pull my attention away from the art sometimes and vice versa.
Speaking of wich, the line art was pretty fukking awesome.
Especially the use of black and dark tone.
I'll drink to that, cheers!

I really enjoyed your entry Scarn. Makes me wish Inferno were still alive so I could follow this up (it fits really great with his backstory). Who knows, maybe a beyond battle is in order for Inferno.

My entry also needs to be read with some imagination... it isn't even set in VOID city.

oh poop. I apparently have three more hours. and here I thought I just got my entry in by the skin of my teeth. Ah well, it was a blast. I realized too late that your character is going to be dead again after this match, so you'll have to read my side with a little imagination. ( hey, death can't hold anyone down in VOID for very long )
I look forward to reading you're entry.
