I really dropped the ball once TTT started and I'm sad I missed this when it first came out! I love Swan and I love seeing her story progress. It's awesome how you've focused so much on her emotional journey, especially since she fought Remy. It's been fun seeing Swan surrounded by friends again because of VCV coming together, and I look forward to more of her growth in the future! Your art is top notch as always!

Oooo, interesting! Love the grayscale-style way you drew this in.

I'm always a sucker for your art and always love your style. Cy does bring up a good point that your stories are starting to repeat the same beats. While recovery is hard if she keeps having these same flashbacks every comic it lessens the impacts of them. Like it makes sense for the chains in VCV to trigger her trauma and if we had a couple comics without her having trauma flashbacks it would have had much more of an impact.

One thing I would like to see developed more is how she plans to fight back against Remy. In all these comics she has not yet come up with a solid answer to fight him. She has no answer for his voodoo ability and so far hasn't been trying to find an answer for one. I think in future comics it would be cool to see her starting to plan her revenge, or maybe decide she doesn't need revenge and will instead protect the people around her.

I’m not really jiving with Swan’s stories as of late. I enjoyed how you dealt with the immediate aftermath of her encounter with Remy, I thought it was pretty powerful and poignant and wanted to see how she’d move past it. But I’ve started to notice a pattern now that’s making me lose interest.

I wanted to refresh myself on Swan’s archive before I commented on this just to make sure, and I’m definitely seeing a pattern. Swan’s journey has this kind of... choppy quality to it. Obviously in real life, recovery isn’t a straight line and they’ll be good days and bad days, but with Swan it seems more fluctuating from one extreme to the other as opposed to one step forward, two steps back. Almost every post-Remy comic, she has a little freak out, then ends it with a determined quip, only to behave exactly the same way in the following one.

Heavyweight: Pg22-24 - Panic and crying over seeing Remy again. Pg25-26 - “And I’ve had enough of this game. I’m SICK of always seeing YOUR face. I’m SICK of hearing YOUR voice in MY HEAD!! AND I WILL NEVER BELONG TO YOU.” Pg28 - “If there was one other thing I could take away from your little therapy session... it’s that I need to grab a drink.”

Sabotage: Pg1-2 - Crying over being alone. Pg6 - “Whoever it was, I’ll make them pay.”

Swan vs Lilo: Pg3 - Panic over warehouse district. Pg6 - “One thing’s for sure, that’s the LAST time I let myself be a pushover.”

Dance into Hell - Freaks out over Remy, then rushes straight into the hellfire with “Whatever it is, there’s no time to waste.”

Void City Valkyries: Pg37, 39 - Panic over chains. Immediately after is like “Let’s kick some arse!”

Here - Pg2 - Starts to freak out over Remy flashback. Pg3 - “You’re wrong. I’m NOT alone... ...And I won’t let it get to me ever again.”

I’m kind of tired of seeing her put her foot down over and over again and then go back to square one in the following comic. Especially with how confidently she’s said like, 3 times in different ways, “I’ll NEVER let this get to me again” only to immediately let it get to her again. Just saying it, or only behaving that way at the end of the comic isn’t development. We HAVE definitely seen a shift from mainly fear to mainly anger with her using the Scourge as an outlet, which I find kind of interesting. Like when you’re doing subtlety and not trying to draw attention to her journey, you do a better job of showing it. Or I guess, when you show her just living her life and trying to deal with it, like one Recovery or the snapshots of her time at the Scourge, it comes across as genuine as opposed to these big grand moments where she announces her determination. They also come across as cliche. When I see her flashback to the other Valkyries and say “but I’m not alone”, I get this sense of deja vu because that’s pretty much the easiest and most in your face way to show a character isn’t alone. It’s the kind of thing I’m used to seeing in kids’ media because they need to spell everything out as clearly as they can. Give the audience a little more credit.

PS Nitpick here but how did Swan see Diego from so far away??

Diego is outta jail! A refugee? Ooh man what does this mean, and what could Swan want with him? Questions You’ve cleverly set up for us to not only want more, but continue to invest us in Swans journey.
I’m utterly happy with the comics following Swans character development and rebuilding of self. Your collab with the void city valkryies was such a great jumping off point for Swan to reach the point shes in with this BB. I like that things still haunt her- because they should- but that she’s hitting back. She stubbornly refuses to let some bad guy write her narrative. She’s proving him wrong and I love seeing it.

think your usual art quality took a dip, but I know you mentioned just being too excited to submit this. I’m greedy for that caliber of quality I’m used to you delivering, so I’m willing to sit on excitement to get the good stuff, lol

Those are some FANTASTIC inks! Also really loved how Swan is flourishing and growing from her trauma, it's so good to see a character conquering their past- it's so nice to see it wasn't a quick fix or anything, it was a whole process and it feels really rewarding to see her like this
How the maybe-presence of Diego shook her to the core and put her in a stressed state again felt like a punch to the gut- in a good way, mind you! Very curious to see what you have next in store for her!

I'm really glad to see how far Swan's has come, especially seeing that she's come to a bit of peace of mind. The tease for Diego is an intriguing thread and I can't wait to see where it goes from here. Hope to see more from you in the future!

I am SO HAPPY that you made this BB to give us a glimpse of what happened to Swan after Armageddon and it's so touching how Swan's encounter with the Valkyries is helping her heal (well, the Valkyries aside from Raven XD).

Spoiler: ShowHide

Not only that, you gave us a teaser about her ex, Diego being out of the jail Swan put him in.  I am looking forward  to see what is in store for Swan's future. How she is going to handle this (additional) fame with the Valkyries, etc. being close to Xia who is Greece's 'best friend'(?), revisiting her trauma with Remy, her budding rivalry with Raven , etc .

I have been following her story ever since I joined Void. She's such a great character and I am definitely a fan of hers.

I'll admit I was a little confused by the layout of the panels of the last page until I figured it out, but nonetheless great job.

Good to see this energy in characters pursuing their development. I also really like the mono-blue style that Swan comics have been developing = w=)

Sorry for the rush parts, I was super excited and eager to get this done and out the way.
It focuses on some parts of Swan's past, which I plan to visit in the near future.
