someone went and uploaded a whole bunch of old shaolin kung fu instructional tapes from the 90s: http://www.youtube.com/user/shemmati10yt/videos

they're all pretty long, but they've been subbed in english and there's some really good detailed bits about all the poses and forms and such. some really great reference material here, for real!

I went and scanned 1910-1940s dresses from the book 'Dreaming of Chanel' by Charlotte Smith.

http://sta.sh/21jmwnuwe9zo?edit=1

Will later on scan the rest of the dresses from this book!

This is one of my favorite things ever: http://www.abdn.ac.uk/bestiary/ The Aberdeen Bestiary is one of those famous Medieval zoology books written and illustrated by people who had no idea about the animals they were writing about or drawing, which makes for hilarious and fascinating results.

A little advertising about my own blog:
http://jackieloart.com/blog/

I'm doing a whole series about sitting behind artist alley at conventions called "Angry Artist Alley". If you have any questions about artist alley or interesting stories, feel free to message me about it and I might incorporate it in a post. Also if you do, leave an art website so I can link it to that too.

Mini Comics of the Month Club is happening again this year!

http://smallercomics.limitedrun.com/products/515672-minicomic-of-the-month-club-subscription-2013-2014

It's a pretty decent price to have a cool little comic in your mailbox every month! Some really great artists in the lineup too.

This is probably one of the most interesting and moving Ted Talks that I've seen: so what does it really mean to give something important to you away, and ask instead of take?

An oldie, but still one of my favorites. Behold, DONG SOMETHING.
I believe these are Draw Something entries from the mind of CH Greenblatt, the guy who did that Chowder cartoon.

Please tell me there is at least one other person on void that has read the Kingkiller chronicles and is excited that they are making a TV show out of it.

So it seems that there are people who have heard the name Greg Land and don't quite understand why this 'artist' is pretty much reviled and hated on the interwebs.  If you're not a regular reader of mainstream comics I can understand but this guy is a horrible example and someone who should not be followed by example.  Here's an article that explains it and links to other articles:

http://lubbockonline.com/hero/2007/08/13/why-Greg-land-is-a-rotten-excuse-for-an-artist#.UhjN1NK-oqd

If you want to know why this guy keeps getting work it's pretty simple, he completes his deadlines faster than any other artist (the importance of keeping deadlines in a work for hire scenario) and because his admirers claim he 'draws' pretty women.

^Never heard of that, though I don't read much mainstream material. That is the worst shit a 'professional' artist can do.

(On a side note, I totally recognize the Avalanche Journal! I was born in Lubbock,TX. :) )

Often on Void some of the most popular characters have been horrible people who you'd never want to meet in real life.  And often enough even the artists themselves are confused as to why this happens.  Here's a nice io9 article that breaks it down:

Not sure If this is the right forum thread to shove in, but I found this thing: http://www.comicsfix.com/

They're looking for submissions for their next round of comics. Basically, viewers pay $10 a month for an all-you-can-read comics webpage (i think it's just for mobile apps). The more readers attracted to the comic you posted on that site, the more revenue. It doesn't seem like a ton of revenue, but it doesn't hurt to try it, since they let you publish your own book or post it at other places if you wanted to.

WOW!!! just.....just....I dunno......WOW!!
this guy;

http://egon88.deviantart.com/

and I don't agree with or believe in this sorta material any more than the 'earth is hollow' or 'Mars needs women'....but I do enjoy reading it from time to time as if it were some kind of paranoid mythology or science fiction

also....by golly there are a LOT of neo-nazis on DevArt

Given DeviantArt's grasp on pretty much the entire spectrum of everything from basic mainstream culture, to sub-culture (both fandom and popular culture alike), counter-culture and just general what-the-fuckery, it would be more shocking if there weren't Neo-Nazi's on DeviantArt. I mean I was more surprised by Christian-oriented Sonic fanart then Neo-Nazis tbh.
