Dude you need to go back and post this two days ago, telling me its coming out tomorrow. Actually I think new comics day is today, Thursday, with Thanksgiving backing it up and all. Or are you still on Canada holidays or something? You heathen bastard.

Im picking this up, thats a promise from me.

Today while I was at the comic shop, blissfully unaware that James' book was on the shelf, I picked up Popgun. Yet another comic our friend mr Stokoe had his dirty mits in.

Fiiinaly got around to reading it.

Also an issue of Proof, which was great, and something called They Do Not Die, which was just okay, and also and Clockwork Creature, which I have no idea where it came from of if it's a one shot or something, it came with a big file of comic books I downloaded. It was pretty good though.

Watchmen is fantastic, though I tried to read From Hell and found it impenetrable.  I'll give it another pass when I've got more time... so maybe on a plane ride to Japan or something when I've got nothing to do and loads of time to do it

everyone i know had trouble with the chapter about masonic architecture--chapter 4. you could skim it lightly and not worry too much about it. give it a chance past that and it gets much much better, honest

ER.

Also, They Found The Car and Garage Band by Gipi.

Italian born, Gipi is a fantastic illustrator, and his watercolor techniques work beautifully with his comics, adding wonderfully to the moods and serious manners of his comics and simpler liner art style. I bought Garage Band first, and as soon as I spotted They Found The Car, I had to get it too, it hooks you with the moods, and gorgeous use of watercolor. Mhmm. He has one more comic I'm aware of, and you can bet I'm going to go find it.

I have Notes From a War Story and it is fantastic.  It is supposed to be his masterpiece but I haven't seen any of his other work.  You should definently go find it, Chair, and everyone else for that matter.

Nevermind, I'm a nit, it's coming out tomorrow.

There's a great review for it here that nails all the good and bad bits that I feel about it --->http://indiepulp.blogspot.com/2007/12/wonton-soup.html

SCALPED

Dashiell Bad Horse is a Lakota Native who, after having stayed away for 15 years or so, has returned to his original home, the Prarie Rose Reservation. Why he's there isn't immediatly obvious- has he come back to try to help the Rez, which is plagued with crime, poverty and drug abuse or simply to thrive off of it?
SCALPED is, from the internet response, controversial mostly because of it's portrayal of Native Americans, but what impressed me is the writing and pacing of the book. Time is a really important part of the book- both in the fact that events from the last thirty years are coming to a head at the time of the story, but also in how the story is told. The six part arc "Casino Boogie" is a really well done piece of work, weaving the characters, their history, and the events of one night of madness on the Rez. I really recommend checking it out.

there's a few worth looking at that site you linked James,go check out the other one by the same aritst 'Ragni'

I was happy to see what Ramon Perez has been doing as I always liked his illustrations.....but I preferred the B+W style he was using a few years back as opposed to this.....still has great lines and forms..still dynamic..but it's lacking his blackwork and details....of course it's still stronger than Butternut Squash....I just wish it had the same level of color and tone as it did

the funny thing is I'm getting a real Jeff Smith- Bone vibe from both of them....
