Supermarket, by Brian Wood and Kristian Donaldson
It's been a long old time since the days Kristian posted here ("educated pencils", har har har), so it was neat to see his stuff pop up again in this book. It's changed a lot, from the really hard, angular stuff to looser brushwork and a really sharp style of coloring.
Anyways, Supermarket follows the adventures of a spoiled teenager named Pella in some indeterminate future of uber-capitalism and congress (a familiar Brian Wood theme I guess). It has Yakuza, the Porno Swede Mafia, street racing and just all around great design.
Bullet Points, by Michael J. Stracynski and Tommy Lee Edwards
I love Tommy Lee Edwards, ever since I read the Question miniseries he did with Rick Vietch a few years ago. Anyways, Bullet Points tells the "What if" story of the bullet that killed Dr. Erskine, shortly after he injected Steve Rogers with the super-soldier serum that turned him into Captain America, way back in the day. However, this time the bullet was fired
before Erskine ever met Rogers, killing both him and an MP named Ben Parker. Bullet Points is the alternate history of the Marvel Universe from that point, and it was really quite good, shifting familiar faces under unfamiliar masks. The art was, as always with Edwards, gorgeous.
