So what comics are you reading?

I've been reading the BPRD trades, currently waiting for Universal Machine to show up

Also, finished off Lucifer last month... what a ride that is!
One Bad Day from Oni and Steve Rolston - good times, good times all-around
and I've got Queen & Country Declassified, 100%, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen all in my bathroom for potty-time reading.

In monthlies I've been reading mostly Wasteland and Cassanova (fucking GRAND series that is).

I kept up with Civil War, but wished I hadn't.
I picked up two issues of Punisher War Journal because of Fraction, and it's quite good... which is surprising, since I haven't read a Punisher book since he was a manga-nized angel running around in sewers with Wolverine.  ... yeah, that's a time best left forgotten.

OH, and I've got Priest book 15 waiting for me too.  THANK SWEET BABY JESUS that book starting going again, I woulda cried if it never finished.

okay this is not actually a comic, but its bloody sexy:

http://www.amazon.com/Grande-Finale-Ashley-Wood/dp/1933239905

Ashley Wood is one of my freakin heros T_t. its a book of his finished works from 2000-2006 and. just. his oil/digital paintings are off the hook, along with his calligraphic chunky expressive lines ahhhhh! and his grasp of lighting... oh baby. he's done some comics but this book is just REAL EYE CANDY. if you boys like naked chicks, guns, and robots... this is like awesome porn or something.

if you stop by a comic shoppe or bookstore, see if they're carrying it, and at LEAST leaf through it. oh man, i first saw the book because my Illustration prof had it and was letting us look through it and others. and then i snapped up the fresh copy today at the comic shoppe.
...beats me, man. Beats me why most dudes suck, sure as hell ain't my scene.

You should really check out the MAX line of The Punisher, 'cause it's by and far some of the best comic entertainment you'll find.  It's gritty, serious (with a little black humor here and there) and doesn't get caught up in the capes-and-camp of the standard Marvel Universe.  It's about Frank killing bad people in horrible ways, and surprisingly manages to carry more than just shock value.  Plus, new Tim Bradstreet art (even if it's just covers) is always a plus.

And people wonder why I never followed Punisher War Journal and ignored him in Civil War. XD

Stick with the MAX Punisher, folks--none o' this nonsense to be found for miles.

Edit: "Now America is about mom, apple pie, and heavy artillery. When you think about it, Punisher really does a better job of representing America than Cap ever did."  Thank you, Celi, for that bit of genius.

It's true in a way, if i wanna get into America hate, he does represent America more than Cap, because with Pun it is more like..."I have more, and bigger, guns than you do."

I'm three of the trade paperbacks into both Lucifer and Preacher.

Reading this thread reminds me that I need to go walk to the local comics store today to make my credit card bill EVEN WORSE.  I need to start reading Transmetropolitan.  I can't get that at Barnes and Noble because all they carry now are shelves and shelves of really bad manga, and like... two books of Sin City.  The western comics area is forgotten and ignored and it makes me cranky.

Not that I hate all manga, I mean, the Hellsing manga makes me all kinds of happy, but it's disappointing when you're looking for some more Vertigo to groove to and can't find any.

List:

Lucifer
Preacher
Hellsing
(I'm noticing a common theme here...)
The Last Temptation (written by Neil Gaiman and Alice Cooper)

ninja by brian chippendale. it is the largest book i own. fun fact, the comics are not read
traditionally from left to right, but in a snakes and ladders type of pattern.

Read some Transmetropolitan.  It was rad.

I also re-read Flight 3
Amazon link.

Every time I read Flight 3 it amazes me because I'm internet acquaintances with one of the artists.  It's like... wow, how did I ever end up talking to somebody so awesome?

I've been really getting into the Ultimates series of comics (ultimate spiderman, ultimate galactus, fantastic four, x-men, etc.). I blame my brother for this, haha.

Ultimate fantastic four has been my comics bread n' butter for the past while, though. I always loved fantastic four, and how their adventures were so ridiculously awesome and pseudo-sciencey. Having adventures on electrons, and the fucking awesome N-zone aspects and just...bdkhsfjdnsj. I love the fantastic four.
Ultimate spiderman is also my favorite spidey series. I like how he's a high school kid with teenage issues and all that shit. I never liked the grown-up married-to-mary-jane spiderman. Ultimate spidey seems so much more real, y'know? Not that being married made him any less real in the other series', but...i dunno, the sarcastic and nerdy comments he makes as spidey seem to make more sense knowing that he's some 17/18 or so year old kid who's trying to pass the PSAT and has to save the city from the shocker or whoever else.

so yeah, i'm pretty much an Ultimates series fag : D

Galactus is a douche bag! Mother fucker needs to get a job. Man, when I came home from work. Galactus ate all of my food. Now I have to go back to the store and restock again.

Also been reading Transmatropolitan, Spider Jerusalem is the best character I have ever seen.
And also my most fav comic is Fabulous furry freak brothers.

Seriously. Life and times of Scrooge McDuck is probably the best thing Disney has ever done. Don't let the whole "Corporate juggernaut squeezing the artistic life out of everything it touches" thing fool you. Don Rosa just loves the character, and uses him so well it hurts.

Don't Fuck with Mcduck.

Don't Fuck with Mcduck.

That's the best thing I've ever heard!

I'm reading the Calvin & Hobbes 10th Anniversary book. Heartwarming and silly tales of a boy and his tiger.

Hoping to get enough cash to buy the enitre series collection (pricey).

Murder. Conspiracy. Sub-zero temperatures. These are just a few of the twists and turns Faith Erin Hicks totally grabs you with, with her ICE comic. I don't know if she has plans to publish this, but God damn I hope so. Her sense of storytelling is superb. Not to mention her comics are the reference material I use to inspire myself. :) If you like great comics you don't want to miss this. http://www.realityfelon.com/Faith/ice/

WOLVERINE ORIGINS.

I'm a Wolvie dork, but i've never read this, so i am doing now, pretty good.

I caught up with American Virgin today (Issues 10-14) loviiing it.

ASTOUNDING WOLFMAN is a cool read, i'm not sure about the art, it's waaaay stylistic and good, but it seems a little too cartoony for the subject matter.

I need to visit a comic shop more often and find some more underground shit.
