I need Thoughts and Tips on my inking

There are many things about my art that I dislike, but my inks have got to be wayy at the top. I have never found a brush that suits me and hate how much my art fluctuates as a result of trying different brushes all the time. I want my lines to be clean, but also soft and not too "harsh" and artificial looking, like something drawn in Paint for instance. I also don't like brushes that are too transparent since that makes it harder for me to colour in nicely.

Here are some comics I've done with different brushes:

Does anyone have any recommendations for Photoshop brushes, or tips on how to use/adjust the brushes I currently have so I can get closer to my goal? Also of the ones I've tried out so far, which looks best? Am I being too harsh on myself and should I stick to one of them for now until I can find what I'm looking for? Also if I come across as too vague, I'd be happy to share some artists with lines I like if that would help with suggestions :)

As an artist you will be harsh on yourself at least 95% of the time, and this isn't isn't really any different.

First of all this video has some great exercises to practice for better line art. Also keypoints to take away is to taper off lines and to not keep trying to fix lines (which are both things i kind of have been doing a lot recently) I also hated my inking a bunch but now i think it's the thing i can do best with my art. one thing that helps a lot is inking other people's sketches, inking someone else's work has a very different feel than inking your own stuff.

All the brushes you mentioned aren't really inking pen tools, try playing around with some of the pen tools and then adjusting them and making those duplicate brushes and keep playing around till you find ones you like.

Frenden.com had a lot of really cool brushes for photoshop/clip studio. They're pretty affordable too. I use his brushes that simulate micron (I think that's what they're called) pens and I've really liked the results so far.

my opinion on this is pretty simple. try to get good with a hard edged pen/brush with only width sensitivity if at all. no anti aliasing.
scale the resolution high up 300 so you dont get frustrated with visible pixels in 100% view. this is pretty close to a traditional ink material (if you dont include washes or fading techniques but only pen or brush styles)

having THE fitting inking brush for you is something that will probably never be the case cause it always depends on the usage and taste (it might be just my thought that the tools are secondary). if you find something like that it will be a process that might need time instead of research.
but inking in itself is very straightforward and often depends more on line thickness and line variety in comparision with canvas scale to define form and clear readability.
what i saw from you was clearly a good attempt but you dont have too much controll over your lining yet. how to define form with B/W is something that needs experience.

decide on a ink/pen brush and practice with it. though if you like a specific brush for whatever reason stick with it and practice till you get good results. just dont give up.

in time you will feel like its time to move on but get results first.

@ArtsandGoodies that video was extremely helpful, thank you!

@Elyan I'm trying that out right now! Thanks for the 300 dpi trick too, bc the pixel thing does frustrate me a lot. I'm sticking to the simple brush you suggested and hopefully once I'm happy with my inking style I can play around with coloured or softer edged lines.
