Species of Void

Species of Void

After reading this battle http://entervoid.com/view.php?id=4869&side=1&iid=3 I realized we have a growing number of unique species on Void, so I thought it'd be fun to make a jam for it! If you already have a species that does not exist in reality, feel free to include them here with some basic information! If you don't have one, feel free to create one for the jam! Maybe people will want to use them in their stories. What info you include is up to you, just you better post art if you're going to give us an essay.

Species:Phinora
Lifespan:800-900 years (at times of peace)
Height:7 ft-8 ft
Diet:carnivore
Natural Habitat:Chuchunaa Islands (far north)

Despite being one of the smallest species of monster, Phinora are considered to be the kings of the Chuchunaa Islands due to their speed and strength. This title has made them a target of other tribes, so their culture primarily focuses on battle in order to keep their own tribe safe. Those who are too weak to hunt or fight often become builders, leatherworkers, or help the Sun Chieftain with his or her duties.

Species: Vektran
Lifespan: 80-90 years with a body, immortal if merged to the collective
Height: Human heights
Diet: mentivore
Natural Habitat: Vektr (destroyed)

Using Miller as a conduit, the disembodied minds of a dead planet invaded, erased and inhabited the minds of millions of human beings on Earth. Then, with their collective psyche, the Vektrans rewrote the memories of the inhabitants of Earth, writing themselves into Earth's history and becoming one of its terrestrial races. As far as 99% of the population is concerned, Vektrans have existed alongside humans for centuries, having lived in the shadows long before. The Vektran Invasion of Earth is known throughout the stars by everyone but Earth.

Vektrans are psychic vampires. They feed on euphoria, dreams, and cognitive thought. The tastiest, most nourishing food for a day usually means finding an unsuspecting human, showing them the night of their life, then devouring their memories of the night at the end. This has helped give them a shady reputation, and they are not often trusted to be friends (unless you're their next meal, at which they'll become your best friend/lover overnight). Though they have no real physical prowess outside some shadow-shaping ability, their true deadliness comes in their psychic power. While all have basic telepathic abilities, many end up specializing (Miller, for example, is a master of memory manipulation)

Vektrans are normally very mathematical/logical. With their superbrains they make good accountants, planners and lawmakers. In general they are financially well off because they pool their finances together as one gigantic account, a global Vektran bank that is run by Vektrans for Vektrans. One of the benefits of a hivemind, and another of the many reasons pro-human groups don't trust Vektrans anymore than Furries or other non-humans.

Vektrans share a hivemind with one another. Vektrans in a group can see and feel through each other, making them a very coordinated and unified race all in all. Whenever a crisis breaks out, Vektrans will immediately evacuate, it has gotten to the point that earthlings now follow the warning signs of fleeing Vektrans the same way they would fleeing animals. This also makes them a very dangerous enemy; intentional killing of a Vektran means the wrath of the entire Vektran population coming down on you, the minds of a million psychic vampires that will find you and make you pay. None have angered the Collective without paying the price for it.

Species: Pikin
Lifespan: 50-60 years (Normal Pikin), 70-80 years (Mountain Pikin), 40-50 years (Arctic Pikin)
Height: 3 ft (Normal and Arctic Pikin), 4 ft (Mountain Pikin)
Diet: See description
Natural Habitat: Depends

Pikins, also known in another country as rabbit squirrels, are furry creatures with the appearance of both a rabbit and a squirrel. Originally forest creatures, they have since migrated to other parts of the world and over the years have evolved into their own subspecies of the Pikin family depending on their habitat. Pikins are known to be incredibly fast (especially those with a well-built body and training) and have incredible hearing thanks to their long ears; the latter which they can use to detect predators and other things with, and is rumored to have a hearing range of over 5 miles. Most pikins come in a variety of colors, even unnatural colors such as purple, blue, or green.

A normal Pikin is approximately 3 feet in height (without the ears) and their tail being 3 1/2 feet in length. Normal Pikins live in two habitats: One is the forest or the meadow (known as Forest Pikins), the other is human habitation such as cities, suburbs, or towns (known as City Pikins). Forest Pikins are more experienced with nature and know how to defend themselves or one another against bigger creatures and carnivores such as wolves. City Pikins are more experienced with urban places and human behavior, and they will also behave like a human upon being born and raised in urban areas; such as wearing clothes and earning jobs. These two Pikins classes also differ in diets: Forest Pikins are mostly herbivores, while City Pikins are either herbivores or omnivores. Because of this, both herbivore and omnivore Pikins share the same set of teeth, which are built and adapted for omnivore types.

The Mountain Pikin can grow to a height of over 4 feet and their tail 4 1/2 feet, making them the largest of the Pikin family. They live mostly in mountain ranges. Their big, bulky bodies are built for mountain climbing and hunting. Unlike normal Pikins, who are prey and have to defend against bigger creatures, the Mountain Pikin is a predator. As carnivores, they can hunt and kill creatures twice as big as they are such as mountain lions or even bears. Most of the time they hunt with their claws but sometimes they would craft their own weapons to make hunting easier for them. Because of this living habit, they behave very aggressively; in fact, they will kill on sight whatever they see move, even if it's a normal Pikin.

The last one is the Arctic Pikin. These Pikins live in the arctic areas of the world and are just the same height as a normal Pikin, including the tail except they are curled up. They wear thick fur and fat in order to survive against extremely cold weather conditions. They also have bigger feet than any Pikin in order to walk through snow, similar to that of a snowshoe hare or a lynx. Like the Mountain Pikin, they are carnivores; they usually hunt for fish, either if it's small fish or bigger ones. Their hunting methods vary depending on size. For instance, for smaller fish they'll use a crafted tool like a fishing rod to catch them with, but for bigger fish or prey they have claws hidden underneath their thick fur to hunt them with, much like a mountain Pikin. They can hunt on land, or underwater. Unlike all Pikins, however, they don't come in different fur colors other than white. Another downside is because of their thick fur covering the ears, they can still hear very well, but not as well as normal Pikins can. They also can't run very fast due to their thick fat.

Here are the tails for the different types of Pikins:

The Arakhs spider women.

Species: Arakhs
Lifespan: up to 1500 years. Legends speak of individuals reaching 2000
Heights: human form, 6.2 to 6.8 adult - less than 2.6 child/ Monster form, 13.5 - tarantula form, well, tarantula sized.
Diet: mainly carnivore.
Habitat: everywhere. ( tend to built underground dens)
population: 700 millions
Social structure: Clanic Matriarchy, governed by an assembly of the oldest and most influentials Matriarchs

The Arakhs are an ancient species of arachno-humanoids that have inhabited the earth since before man even began to built tools. Monogendered, the Arakhs reproduce with other species to harvest the best genetic materials, thus strengthening the future generation and maintaining the Arakh's genes pool. Most live in underground hyper-technologic megalopolis that are self sufficient and always linked to the most important urban areas.

The Arakhs are naturally proud and elitists, their biology conditioning them to stand above the rest thanks to their massive genes pool that immunize them against most ailments and diseases, and give them uniques traits, such as super strength, super speed, regeneration, redundant organs, etc...
While they rather keep sentient beings alive to serves them or reproduce with them, Arakhs are still apex predators, they are not above devouring those who earn their ire.
They ability to masquerade as human and their pheromones allowed the species to (almost) completly disappear from earth's other species's memory. Only creatures such as demons, djinns and other timeless creatures still knows of their existence. Arakhs often are businesswomen or high placed in society and governments.
The Adults share a psychic link with their young, allowing them to monitor them and feel their emotions, and also act as fire-walls to mental intruders.
the typical Arakh pregnancy last one week, and the mother will give live birth to one to three babies. said babies grow from babies to kids in one month, then stay locked in that state indefinitely until they find their true vocation... or go trough powerful emotional trauma.

While they can appear as haughty, cold and cruel, Arakhs have redeeming qualities: Arakhs are loving mothers, be it their own offsprings, or those they adopt. Always seeking to ensure their children's happiness, some goes as far as marrying some of their mates. Arakhs children are curious and friendly, and produce massive amount of web to ensnare prey or play with.
Arakhs are very brutal in the dispatching of their rivals, especially other Arakhs. Assassinations and official honor duels makes tens of thousands of victims every years.

While their pride and greed often blinds them, their true weakness are their children. In fact the best way to make an Arakh suffer is to attack her children... at your own risks.
Because such acts are basically death-warrant unless you can actually face a furious adult arakh, fully transformed and able to kill ancient dragons with bare hands.

Arakhs always have Ink black hair, blue skin, red eyes and long arms with four fingered hands. Adults have six arms including four retractable ones.

Recently, a birth crisis forced the Arakhs global population into a truce. While the honor duels still continue, any blood feuds and private wars between Arakhs clans are suspended.

Species: Imps (daemon minoris)
Lifespan: ?
Height: Up to four and a half foot without magical inteference.
Diet: Meat, magical energy, and life force
Natural Habitat: The Netherworld Outlands

Imps have no secondary sex characteristics and don’t reproduce on their own, a new imp simply popping out of the “spawning pits” once in a while fully formed. They have been around as long as normal demons have so their origin is forgotten, but some legends say since a demon has no soul to pass on to the next life, when vanquished they will be reborn as an imp.

They are the minions of hell and relegated to the lowest societal status still above non-sentient creatures, and usually treated as servants or familiars for more powerful demons. Because imps absorb most energy thrown at them, they’re perfect for testing spells on and are a favorite of more experienced summoners in the mortal realm. Novice summoners are discouraged from using imps as, while the weakest form of demon, they can still be cunning and an imp in the moral realm with no master can quickly become dangerous once it has managed to collect a few souls. It is recommended that any imp that has grown past its natural stature be killed so it will revert to its normal form once it reappears in the netherworld.

Particularly troublesome imps may be fitted with curses or magic limiters to prevent them absorbing too much energy at once, since most demons would be reviled to have to deal with a fully fledged demon who was once an imp. If a demon or summoner favors a particular imp, they may mark them or give them some sort of gift to show they are under their power to prevent others from keeping them as longterm servants. Of course, there isn't anything the imp can do should someone choose to ignore this and summon them anyway.

Species: Shan-Shayu
Lifespan: 80-90 years ideally
Height: average height of 5-5"3 ft for both men and women
Diet: Carnivorous
Natural Habitat: mountainous regions throughout Asia, mostly concentrated in China; more commonly found now in scattered cities and towns

Shan-Shayu, or "Mountain Sharks", as they are more commonly known as, are a race of mountain-dwelling people adapted to life in the rocky terrain of most Asiatic mountains. Given their name for their resemblance to the aquatic predator, their bodies are suited most to existing within areas of thin air while they excel at climbing and maneuvering rocky and treacherous terrain. The gill-like openings on their neck operate similar to the pits within a snake's nose, allowing them to sense the heat of other living beings and making finding one another and gathering food easier in the harsh, cold environment. Their jaws are strong enough to pry flesh clean off of bone, and the joints connecting the mandible to the skull can be loosened to open the mouth up further. Shan-Shayu are known to have unnerving grins as their lips can be pulled very far back on their faces because of this.

They are social and frequently live grouped together with family, with a strong emphasis on familial bonds as a whole. Such is that they've began to migrate away from their original habitat of the mountains to live more domestic lives as the race as a whole has started to intermingle further and further with humans. "Pure-blooded" Shan-Shayu are now mostly seen up in the mountains while more mixed members of the race are the more usually seen, and are the image that people are generally more familiar with. With each generation of mixing, the traits of Shan-Shayu children become more and more diluted with the genes of their human parents, as demonstrated.

I am so sorry for the essay.

Species: Dolls
Lifespan: ideally immortal (Demigod and Normal Dolls), can be immortal if fully converted (Corrupted Dolls)
Heights: can grow up to 7' and even more (Demigod Doll), average human heights (Normal and Corrupted Dolls)
Diet: Not necessary to eat but known to be omnivores
Habitat: Anywhere (identity kept secret)

Dolls, or "artificial humans", are a relatively new species created by humans at the start of the New Era. Their main original purpose were to act as a slave caste to the Human race, starting out as servants and maids to those who could afford them and replaceable soldiers during the current Worldwide war at the time. Once their immortality and ultimate potential was brought into light, the project was immediately scrapped and any trace behind the concept of Dolls have been officially erased. However, word always gets out and to this day, Dolls are still being created, most often to replace many people's deceased love ones or to fulfill their original purpose. To practically the entire world, their existence is unnatural and they deserve no rights.

Normal Dolls are the ones closely resembling humans the most, only distinguishable by the vibrant red eyes they have upon being "awakened" and their lack of aging. They are created from deceased humans and act as a "replacement", retaining the memories and personality of the deceased figure. Upon from creation, they act as though they've woken up from a terrible nightmare. Aside from their general immortality, Normal Dolls are generally just normal with no special abilities.

Demigod Dolls are the more inhumane members of the species, typically featuring inhuman traits such as massive growth and animal-like features. They are created from stillborn infants, granting them the ability to age (which would be taken away once they are "awakened") and "outworldly" abilities aside from immortality that strays them from Normal Dolls. These abilities can range from psychic manipulation to time manipulation to even alternate universe related abilities. However, they can only tap into these abilities once they have become "awakened". In comparison to Normal Dolls, their numbers are not as abundant.

As immortal as they seem, all members share a weakness to fire. Completely burning out all the parts of the Dolls with no way to regenerate seals their fate.

Lastly, Corrupted Dolls are the newest subspecies to the entire species, only having been existing for no longer than a few decades. They are created when an organ from any Doll are transplanted into the host human; even then, the process does not always guaranteed the survival of the host human, which is the one of the main reasons for this species' lack of members. After the process is finished and the survival of the human is ensured, the human's body slowly converts into the donor's likeness as the cells take over the body. Their individual state of mind is kept but their identity becomes totally changed. In comparison to the other Dolls, Corrupted Dolls could still die from mortal attacks if attacked via their human side but they are considered to be immune from most diseases and their aging is slowed down.

Species:
Bakarii
Lifespan: can live to be over 200, however due to the violent culture most don’t make it past 50
Height: average height 5-5"8 ft
Diet: Carnivorous, often cannibalistic
Natural Habitat: a desert planet in spaaaaaaaace~

Culture: Bakarii are a wandering race, with no set government. They have what can be described as a warlike culture. Everyone is raised to be a fighter, and everyone fights until they die. While they don’t have any form of religion, they do have superstitions. The most common being that after defeating an opponent in battle they will consume the body believing they will gain their strength. It is seen as a great disrespect in their culture to not eat the body of the defeated, it is viewed as if you don’t think they were strong enough to bother consuming. Bakarii are a solitary race and very rarely travel with more than 4 others. Outside of family, relationships aren’t highly valued. This is not saying that they can't form close friendships, only that it is very rare. Things like race, age, or gender don’t mean anything to a Bakarii. The only thing that matters to them is if someone is strong. As such it is very common for Bakarii to engage in relationships with other species, and have same sex relationships.

Abilities:
Bakarii have near impenetrable skin, and bones like concrete. They are fire resistant, and can withstand extreme temperatures both hot and cold. They can fire lazer beams from their mouths and have super strength and enhanced speed. They don’t have the best reflexes, and are often very single minded and rather unintelligent. Their biggest weakness lies in the fact that they have almost no regenerative ability. Any kind of wound can turn fatal if not immediately seen to.

Appearance: They are very short, but weigh over twice as much as a normal human. Their skin is composed of very small scales. Thier skin tones can range from pale reddish to green. Skin tone is passed down genetically through family lines however scale color varies from person to person. Eye color likewise is completely random.

Blood-lust:
The Bakarii suffer from a condition they refer to simply as Blood-Lust. When they experience intense emotions they can lose their sense of self and become a mindless killing machine. This state causes them to attack friend or foe indiscriminately. The older a Bakarii gets the better they become at controlling their Blood-lust. It is nearly impossible to calm down a Bakarii who has succumbed to Blood-lust. You either have to beat them down or wait till they burn themselves out.

Species: Abyssals
Lifespan: Biologically Immortal
Height: Varies
Diet: Biovore
Natural Habitat: The Abyss

Current number within city: 2

Abyssals are parasites born of fabricated life, from an absurd realm called The Abyss. They infest and consume the life of others in order to pervert their own.

Parasitism: Being unstable when outside their own realm, Abyssals instinctively will not consume the first life form they encounter. They will attempt to infest the potential host, essentially merging themselves with it, using the hosts genetic structure as a base to form its own. This causes the abyssal to initially resemble the host species. During infestation, the host becomes deceased as their body is taken over and certain organs and tissues are consumed for food.

Assimilation: As they eat, they assimilate desirable traits from their victims and add it to their repertoire of available genetics. In this pool, genes are mixed and their genetic structure becomes more complex, allowing the individual to change and adapt to better suit its needs. Abyssals will prioritize adding new genes to itself above regular feeding, actively seeking them out. The manner in which Abyssals can detect new genes is unknown.

Ichor: A silver, inky liquid contained within the bodies of abyssals. It serves as a multipurpose tool, able to perform a myriad of functions and is vital for survival. Ichor is used mostly as a fuel source, like calories for an animal. It is consumed over time, but more can be used when the abyssal exerts itself or expels it. Weaponized, ichor can be expelled from an abyssal in varying manners to assist in its survival, as ichor will assimilate organic material on contact and should be regarded as corrosive. Concerning survival, the most important role of ichor is for regenerative purposes. Abyssals can grow new or lost limbs with the use of ichor. When injured, ichor can be lost due to severing or punctures, bleeding out the abyssal though wounds are usually quickly healed.

Instability: Due to their nature, Abyssals can't survive long outside of their realm. Not only this, but other elements can cause them to destabilize quicker. Intense or harsh light causes a molecular breakdown in abyssals, giving them an aversion to activity during day lit hours. It is not known why, but the ichor of an abyssal is also highly flammable and the Abyssals seem to know this. Instinctively, they will avoid fire and tend to not risk themselves in situations that involve it. Should an abyssal catch flame, it's body will quickly immolate. Unless the abyssal can eject part of itself to regenerate later, the whole of its body will become incinerated, killing it.

Space Desperado

Description: There are no known living adults of the Space Desperados. The multiverse traversing nymphs of the Space Desperados are what is left of the species. They are very similar to young human adolescents, barring physiological exception in the form of miniature horns growing from their skull and the composition of their skeletons being composed of a super-dense metallic crystal lattice. Other notes are an exceptional resilience to bodily harm, profound adaptability to hostile planetary conditions and a tendency to resurrect themselves spontaneously. Most knowledge on the Space Desperados come from battlefields across the multiverse. Their life cycles, mating rituals, and other physiological data is unknown even to the nymphs.

Origin: Unknown
Population Count: Less than a million.
Natural Habitats: the known Multiverse.

-The only members left of the Space Desperado species are the genetically weaponized nymph-forms following the Generational Purge carried out by the nymphs. The Generational Purge was a genocide that eliminated the entirety of the previous generation including all history of this species, even the original name of their race has been eliminated, earning them the moniker "Space Desperado" for their lawlessness and abilities to cross through into different dimensions.
Culture: All that is left of their heritage is a myth that the Space Desperados were chosen to become stewards to maintain peace and order throughout the multiverse, but they rebelled against this appointment. The Space Desperados possess their own set of beliefs and laws (or the absence thereof), however they are quick to adopt superficial customs, language and customs of other species. Nothing much remains of original Space Desperado art, language or technology.
Politics: Radical Individualism, Social Darwinism
-The Nymphs believe in Radical Individualism, a doctrine carried over from the Generational Purge. They accept no rulers above them, and each individual Nymph has taken to giving themselves royal titles or titles relating to the highest of political offices. This self-appointed kingship is the only defining cultural bridge between individuals of the Space Desperado race- to be a king means to become the central influence in shaping one's own destiny, including acknowledging equality among other Space Desperados or others who are defined by a regal nature.
-The Nymphs ambiguously define Social Darwinism as the "Law of Nature", the only Law that they acknowledge. Only those strong enough to claim kingship or disown it has the right to be recognized as such.

Psychology: The baseline mental state of Space Desperados would be considered as pathological if isn't for the fact that this is how they are as a culture. They can be described as being afflicted by "delusions of grandeur" and "mania". Disturbing levels of violence and traumatic events don't seem to have a permanent psychological impact on Space Desperados, making them perfect warriors who can sustain extended time on a battlefield without suffering from battle fatigue. Furthermore, their hardy physiology makes them perfect infantry to deploy on many types of terrain within the multiverse. Concepts such as honor and loyalty are disregarded for the sake of the "Law of Nature" and though Space Desperados relish the challenge of  battle, they are often the first to flee if they calculate a lost cause.
-Desperados understand the concept of empathy, patience and kindness, however, their perception and political identity colors their emotional responses, refusing to give much to what they would term "morally inferior" (in the context of Law of Nature) beings any leeway, doing so would be a waste of time and emotional energy. Desperados aren't social among themselves, they go out of their way to leave one another alone.

Special Abilities: Space Desperados possess the ability to traverse the multiverse by sensing and exploiting dimensional cracks, areas in a given space where the veil between universe is weak enough to cross over with enough effort. If a dimensional crack is too weak, a Space Desperado can fall through on accident. Typically these cracks are found in sacred or cursed sites.

Finally posting up info on Shizana's species since their backstory is out!

Instead of writing up several paragraphs of explanation, I made informational illustrations. There's quite a few of them so I'll just link to the tumblr posts so that I don't create a mile-long reply to this thread.  I made it several months ago, so the art is kinda dated, but oh well:

Jovians

name:Jovians
Origine: Moons of Jupiter
Lifespan: 60 years... at best.
Diet: omnivorous, litteraly eat anything.
Habitat: Hives in the form of towers, that are actually more like small village inside.

following Jupiter's destruction back in 2016, the Jovian Ants, who inhabited its moons, emigrated to Earth using the Extra-Terrestrial Working Contract, the ETWC, to negotiate asylum in exchange of large construction contracts. Jovians being very good at it, said yes. And Such, a colony was hired by Void's municipality to reconstruct the city after Armaggedon (and any future similar events for that matter) and are now working everywhere in the city.

The Jovians are hive insects that function much like ants or bees, but with notable differences. While there are Male and females, The females actually can go trough more changes that the mles who simply occupy the function soldiers and progenitors.

Workers all knows they are pretty much expendables. They life esperancy is really small, and they know it. But they lives surpisingly well with that.
Males are too, expendable to a degree, as they needs far less care, becoming independant from their queen-mothers and cares sooner than their sisters

Jovians are very belligerant to any insects species living near them and are always suspicious/fearful/on edge whatever around them. An instinctual behavior inherited from their formers home on Jupiter's Moons, where the fauna composed of giant deadly space bugs and rival hives were the primary danger and source of mortality.

Beauteggs

These beauties known as Beauteggs (aka the eggs with butts) are the physiological extension of Egg Dealer’s natural stores of beauty factoral cores. However, the Beauteggs are invisible to most, appearing only as green gases, only some may be blessed enough to see the  Beauteggs as they are.
Beautegg shells are hard as an iron will, however their grave weakness is that when you hurt their feelings they shatter, that’s why they are invisible to most; that is primarily a defensive construct.
The Beauteggs are foremost a supportive network for the Egg Dealer. They provide nutritious love eggs and love egg based products for him to consume.
Beauteggs by default have no face, but as they acquire more life experiences they become enhanced and grow faces.
