A Personal Plea

A Personal Plea

Hey everyone!

So, my wife has struggled with frequent migraines and depression for years. We've worked ever since we got married to find solutions to these problems, and sometimes it seems like it's working. Her migraines went from an almost daily occurrence to weekly or so, and her depression has turned from a permanent cloud into occasional bursts. Lately, however, her migraines have been more frequent, and we really have no idea why or even what causes them.

I know a lot of you aren't religious, and maybe you don't believe in prayer, but if there's any good vibes you could send our way, I would really appreciate it. Her name is Andria, and she's so sweet and smart and wonderful, my heart breaks every time I come home from work to find her stuck in bed in a dark room or laying on the couch because her head hurts again. You guys mean a lot to me, and I know I'd feel a little bit more hope if you prayed for her, or thought of her, or sent positive vibes or whatever. Also, if you happen to know the cure for migraines, that would be great, but you'd probably already win the Nobel Prize for it or something because it has puzzled scientists for years, apparently.

I love you all (and that's not just a figure of speech), and I hope you know that I'm sending my prayers your way when you have problems and everything.

That's terrible. I know how awful both those things are, and I can't imagine having to deal with them at the same time for so long. I hope you guys can find some way to help treat her, but I'm sure everything will be okay. Your wife must be a very strong person to have dealt with this for so long, and she has you there to help support her. I know it doesn't mean much, but I hope things get better Bobo.

Take care. Have you done things such as seeing a specialist, a neurologist, getting a MRI, etc.?

I don't want to sound like an armchair doctor coming out of nowhere but have you checked her with a chiropractor?

I used to get frequent (and extremely painful) migraines on a daily basis for several years. A few trips to the chiro on a friend's recommendation, an x-ray to confirm his suspicions and I found out I had a number vertebrae that were out of place. Got it fixed up and I haven't had an issue since.

Again wishing you all the best.

I know I left you all hanging, but it's taken a long time for anything to change.

All of your prayers and positive vibes must have helped, because a small miracle happened! Andria was going to meet with a neurologist, but she wasn't going to be available until September. A couple of weeks ago, however, someone cancelled, and Andria was able to slip in at the last minute! The neurologist gave her some really helpful tips on how to avoid migraines and verified that they weren't caused by some other worse issue.

We also discovered that there was another issue making her migraines a lot worse, but we got that taken care of. It has now been probably about two weeks wince she's had a migraine!

Unfortunately, her depression is still an issue, so keep those prayers and thoughts coming. Fortunately, having fewer migraines definitely helps, but we're just going to have to keep working and see how things go!

Love you all!
Bobo

Depression can be a harsh mistress and can be extremely tough to get over. (I know from experience)It might be helpful to find things to keep her mentally busy so she doesn't dwell on bad stuff!

That's a big part of the problem. She's a chronic worrier and currently out of school and unable to work due to her depression. She's got some hobbies and stuff, but it's hard for her to really feel busy, you know?

Coming from a family line with depression and severe anxiety, I can only imagine what she has to endure everyday, especially if she's getting frequent migraines. I don't know what your situation is like in terms of medical assistance, but I will keep your wife in my best wishes, and hope that someone with a good heart will be able to help your wife through this.

Thanks, Bittermause. :)

And thanks to everyone else! Your prayers and well-wishes really mean a lot to us, even if I didn't respond to you earlier!

So I was talking to Hats just now, and she asked how Andria is doing, which made me realizeā€”I haven't given you all an update!

After visiting several crappy and stupid doctors and trying lots of different medication combos, I think we've finally found a good fit for my wife. Her migraines are nearly gone, and her depression is at a level where she can actually handle it. We've still got a little way to go, mostly involving her finding a job or something to keep her busy and feeling productive, but I'd say things have changed 100%. Thanks for everyone who sent your positive vibes, happy thoughts, love, and prayers over the past several months. You guys are the best!
