Battle Pass
How it Works
In years past, artists were required to submit Intro Comics for every single character they wanted to enter, except for in special Tournament cases. Now, with BattlePass, the only time an Intro Comic is required is for users with no active, living characters on the site.
When a new artist gets their first character accepted, they are then awarded a BattlePass: with the BattlePass, you are granted the ability to battle and create comics on the site. You will also be awarded three BattlePass character slots, which you can use to submit characters without an Intro Comic.
When you submit a character without an Intro Comic, you will use one of your three BattlePass character slots. All other character requirements (design sheet, icon, bio, etc) still apply. However, as soon as you complete at least one comic with a BattlePassed character, you are refunded the slot that the character occupied. Essentially, you can only have up to three characters with zero comics at a time.
If you decide later on that you want to add an Intro Comic to a BattlePassed character, all you have to do is upload a comic and title it Intro Comic. It will automatically be applied to your character’s profile as their Intro Comic!
Provisional Characters
If you have a design sheet for your first character ready but are stuck on the introduction comic, you can submit your character as a Provisional Character. An artist with a Provisional Character does not have a BattlePass. You can have up to three Provisional Characters at a time.
Without the BattlePass, you cannot use these characters yet in comics and most events, but there are still many ways to use this character on the site.
Provisional characters can be loaned out to BattlePass users who want to battle with them. Meaning, a member with a BattlePass can battle using your character if you grant them permission.
As a Provisional member, you’re also allowed to write for another artist for a collaborative battle or beyond battle, as long as all parties agree to the collaboration. You may write for your own character as long as a BattlePass carrying member draws. This provision has been added to help foster interaction with the community and to encourage more writers to join in the fun.
You can submit an introduction comic for any Provisional character at any time. If the introduction comic is approved, you will unlock the BattlePass and its benefits.
