So just what is it?
As requested by majority vote, The 2013 Prettiest Princess Death Tournament is this summer's main death tournament. Bringing back the themed tournaments of the past, this one focuses on princesses. And as the name says, this is a DEATH tournament, as in DEATH MATCHES. 1 week death matches to be specific! You will kill or be killed, it's the law of the jungle in this tournament!
Who can participate?
Anyone! Even if you've never had a character on the site, you can also participate in this tournament! New people are just as welcome as current and veteran members! Unlike the Speed Death Tournament, your character must be a princess in some way. THIS IS A REQUIREMENT.
On the flip side, intro pages are NOT A REQUIREMENT!
When is this tournament starting up?
To give the remaining weeks in May to The Black Stripe and to allow proper time for people to join up, The 2013 Prettiest Princess Death Tournament will begin on Monday, June 3rd. That means you have until Friday, May 31st to submit your character to the site and sign up in this thread!
How long will each round be?
Unlike the recent Tag Tournament, these rounds will be 1 week each! Speed Death Tournaments are hard-hitting fast events, and this is no different! Don't sign up if you can't commit to these times, because there's NO EXTENSIONS, NO CANCELLATIONS, ONLY DEATH AND TAXES. Don't sign up for what you can't do!

Round One will begin Monday, June 3rd.
Each round will be one week for drawing, one week for voting. Your opponents will be randomly selected.
All Matches are DEATH matches... thus the "Death" in Speed Death Tournament. This means your character will probably die! You have a good chance of it! Only the winner survives!
3 page minimum per comic!
Intention of joining can and should be made below, but all Applications will need to submit their character through the actual submission process by May 31st , at the latest. This is done by going to Manage > Create a Character.
Not meeting requirements will result in automatic disqualification from the tournament for the Artist as well as the chance to be shamed by all of their peers.
The tournament winner will have the title of ‘The Prettiest Princess’ added to his/her character profile on the Main Site as well as the great relief of surviving many harrowing rounds against tough competition.

Speed Death Characters only require a Design Sheet and Bio, but do not require an Intro. Since the uploader will not let you pass without Intro images, please use the Design Sheet for all fields. Princess Min thinks the old ways are best.
A little bit spoiled and self-confident, but follows through where it counts (on the violence). She lures children (...And sometimes Princesses) with her hipster-keytar covers of 50s classics, and then she and her drones rip them up and eat their bones for breakfast. Mmm Mmm, just like mamma used to make back in 100CE.

He rules over his (stuffed animal) kingdom in love and fairness, and treats his fellow countrymen as the princesses he knows they are. He lives in his parents' (basement apartment) castle, where the strong walls and loving King and Queen keep him safe from invading forces.
Today, however, Princess Solidarity steps out of his fortress in search of a higher calling: the Prettiest Princess of VOID.

Princess Chi & Purple Teeth
Princess Chi is a princess of a large and beautiful country, where she dresses in beautiful skull-themed dresses and wears a tiara made of gold and rubies. She is on her journey to become the queen of the VOID Kingdom.
Mr. Purple Teeth is a shade who is following Chi around, making sure every step she takes is a safe one. Is very aggressive against people who get in the way of becoming the queen.
...Meanwhile, in the real world
The harsh truth is that Chi is a patient in VOID Asylum for Broken Minds and is part of a test program where the patients are let to the world awake to wander and perhaps get better. Chi's parents died in a car accident leaving Chi traumatised enough to make her fall into her own fantasy world. Purple Teeth's real name is Dr. Phillip Schuld and he is Chi's personal doctor and his job is to track her progress throughout the seven year program.

Anish Amrit, resident at Le Chateau Adrian, 532 Adrian St., Void City.
After the city's reset, Le Chateau was one of the only buildings left standing. Deciding this to be an act of god, the landlord, mr.Durant, declared himself king and the land around the property his kingdom. He decided Anish is the princess because of all the dresses she's always wearing.
Anish likes: Old vinyls, kung-fu movies, chillin' and keepin' it real.

Hello! I'm Aspen. I've had this account for several months now, but I finally have time to submit a character! So here's mine.
Saya
Saya and Orin
Saya is the the daughter of the chief of the Whitepaw tribe. The Whitepaw are said to be descendants of the lions, the only ones capable of taming the creatures. When a Whitepaw tames a lion, they are companions for life. Saya's lion, Orin, bit her when she was a child, leaving a series of scars on her right arm. Saya is 16, and next in line to lead the Whitepaw. But first she must prove herself worthy by embarking on a journey to test her bond with Orin.
Saya is eager to strengthen her bond with Orin. Her father is in poor health, and she knows that someday soon, she will have to take over as chief. Despite the overwhelming responsibilities she must face, Saya looks at most everything with a sense of optimism, and she's always looking for adventure and fun.

Saya and Orin
Saya is the the daughter of the chief of the Whitepaw tribe. The Whitepaw are said to be descendants of the lions, the only ones capable of taming the creatures. When a Whitepaw tames a lion, they are companions for life. Saya's lion, Orin, bit her when she was a child, leaving a series of scars on her right arm. Saya is 16, and next in line to lead the Whitepaw. But first she must prove herself worthy by embarking on a journey to test her bond with Orin.
Saya is eager to strengthen her bond with Orin. Her father is in poor health, and she knows that someday soon, she will have to take over as chief. Despite the overwhelming responsibilities she must face, Saya looks at most everything with a sense of optimism, and she's always looking for adventure and fun.

The leader of this movement was elected First Chief, and so was his son, and then his grandson... Little Wing is the First Chief's great granddaughter, possesses an indomitable spirit, war archery skills to match, and a will to not only see her people survive but thrive. Her name is Princess Ray. Any mortal of non royal blood who gazes upon her beauty become hypnotized to fight as "Pawns" for her honor. She can control up to 3 people at a time no matter the range. And the number of people she can control ups itself with every princess she kills.
She can also shoot lasers out of her crown. Pew! Pew!
Other than that, she's an ordinary princess, snobby, bratty, and elitist. She can't fight hand to hand, but she has great strategic skills. She always uses at least one of her "Pawns" as a defense.

She comes from a land down under... if by "down" we mean physically below your feet and by "under" we mean under the earth's crust... She is the most recent spawn of a queen of a hive like goblin monster race thing who every few hundred years creates a princess who's goal is to go out become powerful enough to comeback to take over the hive. If she fails then the cycle will just happen again in a few hundred years.
The race has been stuck below the earth's crust for centuries but thanks to the high-jinx of a red hair barbarian princess who is also in this tourney this young princess has become aware of the surface and has come to amass her goblin army to over throw the queen goblin breeder... thing... with a face.
How will this stunning beauty raise such a force one might ask! Her power is to feed and convert genetic material that her main stomach mouth ingests into mutated variations of goblins. AKA her stomach mouth eats a octopus when she lays her next litter of eggs they will be octopus based goblins... if she eats a bird, bird based goblins are on their way.... and so on and so forth. The more she eats the bigger her brood gets and the more varied her food source the more varied her army etc...
As for her, she is just always hungry and needing to feed cause she is pooping out babies constantly. She needs to feed so badly that she can eat with both hands (literally her palms are mouths), her normal face mouth or two convenient breast mouths. She can't see well, but uses a bat like sonar to get around... and has a horde of goblins that keep getting bigger the more she feeds and the more powerful organisms she feeds on...

My character
Georgette Lafleur is the daughter of the famed Voodoo King. She comes from a long line of royalty and has inherited her families ability to commune with the dead. However, Georgette has developed a secondary ability, she can harness the special abilities and powers of the dead. in turn using their abilities for her self. This is seen as a blessing to everyone except Georgette herself. Against everyone's wishes, save her own, she has journeyed to Void city to prove her mettle and worth.
Powers/Abilities: Georgette can speak to and learn from the deceased, and through channeling can take on the powers and abilities of the deceased as well. Taking on the powers of the dead is taxing to her system and she cant maintain the link for a long period of time (usually only about 7 minutes) This leaves her more winded than regular channeling. Whereas after regular channeling she is winded, after using abilities, she cant do much more than walk, This usually last for 10 to 20 minutes. Channeling also takes time and concentration, if she is doing anything in addition to the channeling (fighting, talking etc) it takes 15 seconds longer. She is far from helpless however, when push comes to serve she is a moderate hand to hand combatant, and she is a expert with the rapier and saber.
Clothing: Georgette doesn't dress in typical voodoo priestess, or princess garb, instead opting for more traditional clothing. She is often found wearing loose fitting clothes or clothes that don't restrict movement. And she is almost always barefoot, she finds it easier to channel souls if she is in direct contact with the earth. usually the feet, although any part of the body will do. She also wears a choker with a skull shaped red ruby around her throat, it is said (she believes) that the soul of her dead mother (the only soul she cant seem to summon) lies in the ruby. She can speak with the spirit freely, and through these conversations is how she found out she can use the abilities of the dead.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks: Channeling doesn't come without setbacks and channeling isn't instantaneous. It takes her about 20 seconds to channel a random spirit, about 30 to channel a specific spirit. If she isn't touching the ground with any part of her body it takes about 30 seconds longer, with any body part outside of the souls of her feet take 15 seconds longer. If she doesn't have the choker on it takes an additional 45 seconds cumulative.
Channeling time frames/duration:
Random spirit: 20 seconds Duration: unlimited. Duration Using powers: 7 min
Specific spirit: 30 seconds Duration: unlimited. Duration Using powers: 7 min
Not focused on channeling: +15 seconds
Using hand/other body part: +15 seconds

That's not really fair though. You've got someone who'll end up fighting 5 rounds and someone who fights 4 rounds? That's a distinct advantage in the tiredness department. I mean, if that was the case, we probably WOULD end up with 48 entries, but that wouldn't do any good since it would be to start in the second round.

Personally I'd prefer to keep it to two-way battles; if there are too many entries why not have a "qualifying" round, either on a voluntary-basis (I'll volunteer!) or depending on reputation / skill (so for example, I would have to go through qualifying whereas RoflQu or Majikuru wouldn't). Sure, it would add a week or two too our drawing time, but as Johnny Blaque said: making comic battles is supposed to be the fun part!

There's lots of arguing involved but some of the criteria we have is presentation of the design sheet and if its someone who has shown themselves able to participate in a tournament setting and consistently deliver. But we're also all very different and there's a great deal of discussion going on so no worries. Even if people don't make it in this time, there's other events in the future.

Not really, because we never claimed it was "first come first serve" so people would be punished if they took their time on their design sheets and turned in before the deadline.

So did you guys decide that having 1 round of three way battles was a bad idea? The 2nd round could have 5 three way battles with 3 two way battles to have 8 people move unto the next round. I think a lot people think it would be fun to do for one of the rounds, I'd certainly would want to, and you wouldn't have to cut 10 cool princess entries. For the most part, just wanna have fun.

I'm sorry Wolcik :( And to everyone else that didn't make it. It was NOT an easy thing to cut people, but unfortunately it had to be done. It doesn't mean that we don't want you on Void, it just means that a difficult choice had to be made.
I'm sure the other people that voted can vouch that there was quite a bit of discussion on this topic and it was NOT EASY AT ALL.
We didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so I hope that if you didn't get in then you will still enjoy reading the comics. I'm actually overjoyed that we had this incredible amount of people interested in this. I'm pretty excited that we have some new people in as well.

I'm really, really sorry for everyone who got cut. None of us wanted to tell people that they wouldn't get to make comics. I hope no one leaves over this, especially not you Wolcik (You're Mr. Awesome! What would Void do without you!?), because that would make an already terrible situation just soul-crushingly depressing.
Just because we didn't pick you, doesn't mean we don't think your comics aren't amazing. And just because you're not in the tournament doesn't mean you can't get in some crazy amazing battles right now. If you guys were ballsy enough to enter the PP, then you can handle anything.
Everyone who got in, slam that nose so far into the grindstone it comes out the other end, it's gonna get crazy.

Sending us your own thumbnails is greatly appreciated because it saves so much time and helps us post the comics WAY faster! It is in no way a requirement, but if you'd like to send us your own thumbnails please email the 3 of us at:

If you have problems uploading, PLEASE TELL US IMMEDIATELY.
IF YOU DON'T TELL US, WE WILL ASSUME THAT YOU DEFAULTED.
POST THAT YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE IN THE COMIC COMMENTS!!
To submit your comic, go to Manager > Submit a comic.
If you are having trouble, try uploading your pages ONE AT A TIME.
PLEASE, check your files sizes. Huge files will not only be difficult to read on screen, but they will not upload properly.
Try opening your .jpg file in an internet browser to see how it will look. If you zoom in like crazy then your file is WAY TOO LARGE! Remember that you aren't saving these for print, you are saving a small version to be viewed online.
Also make sure you use a files type that is compatible, like a .jpg or .png etc.

On the top menu, go to Manager - Comics - Submit a comic; Click the comic (Princess X VS Princess Y) and you will see your pages if they are uploaded :) No-one else will see them ofc until they are uploaded to the site by the admins / Void Council

so i totally think i uploaded the pages to the wrong spot... can't see how to delete it so people in-charge just know, yes I am indeed "challenged" and no I do not know better... lol I think i also i then placed it in the correct spot but only time will tell... feel free to terminate the wrong file set... sorry and thanks :)

Yeah, you uploaded a beyond battle by accident as well. I'll delete that. You actual battle has pages uploaded, so it's all good.

That, my friend, is a result of including time taken to manage and place all the comic and the match-ups at the beginning and end of each round and the timer taking note of various other factors like how much time there is to the end of that day. As a result there will always be another day added each round.

Oh ok so last weeks round of voting was a special case then? Last round the fighting took place monday to monday night and voting tuesday to sunday night. Thought it was going to be the same on this round.

Last round I set all of the voting to end early, but some of the mods thought it would be better to give the artists more of a break between rounds. Sorry to disappoint you and for getting your hopes up.
