Nah the exposition wasn't really an "anime" thing.. It was me just going for trying to set up possible future round stories (and if I make it all the way thru the tourney for after it too). what even constitutes an "anime" thing anyway? I have seen that term floating around a LOT on here as if it's a bad thing and so I am getting kinda confused. Anyway It turns out there is just a lot I wanted to set up, so the exposition was needed as I didn't have a clear idea of where I wanted to go in round one. Next round won't be so heavy on it since the outline is finally there. Thanks!

BRENTONY- Ughhh, I love this character. The more I see, the more I'm so sad this is a death tournament. I want cool characters like these to LIVE dangit. Bab's is the coolest- if not the bloodthirstiest. Everything from her expressions to her 'thank crap I'm alive!' had me smiling. Its obvious you're having fun doing these battles. Also, its nice to see a cameo of LeFred's bad boss guy, haha! CHARLIE- In true Charlie style, you've taken the tournament framenwork and run away with it into your own adventure. Definitely didn't expect an outside source of conflict to arise out of confronting Babs-not to mention all the exposition, but I suppose that's an anime thing? Not my fav, but whatcha gonna do. So glad this was colored as I feel it really compliments your heavily shadowed and inked style. I can see everything that's going on so clearly now! :D

BRENTONY: A really nice improvement on last round even if you didn't have time to do the same level of details in the backgrounds. But your colours are sick as hell and the blunt fuck-you ending is great. Would love to see you loosening up with some of your pose work because it does feel a bit stiff at times which is unfortunate with your super cartoony style - that's an ongoing process though so you have done really well in this round. Also so sad that the 'Plot convenient radio panel' gets a bit lost because the grey is a little bit too dark for the lettering to stand out! I only caught it on my second read. Loved the storyline of this and hope to see more from you! CHARLIE: Haha at Saitama & Genos hanging out in there. Despite it being a bit rushed, there's still an amazing amount of detailed work that you've been able to put together in such a short span of time, even where you've skimped out on details you've been really clever in the way that you've filled the space to make the comic seem finished. I loved the plot point of Max just assuming the alien was after him haha. Your linework really is so strong though, that if you're pushed for time you really can just stick to inks and I think this could have been a good bit stronger. I think the only thing that seemed odd to me was that you had this clear thing of Ai & Max walking next to each other (and then Ai is right on top of Max at the start of page 2), but when he gets shot there's suddenly this huge distance between them - I get the close up but it was a bit jarring. Loved this a lot though!

Oooh this is a hard pick! BOTH ARE FANTASTIC UGH Brentony - Your colors are a lot nicer this round! Babs's quest for a radio continues to be hilarious. Also, I really like the panel on the third page where Babs is completely in the shadow of Cannot Dance's master...! Also, poop jokes. Charlie - The way you drew Babs rushing towards the page with a knife on page 2 is super cool. I think it's some combination of the movement of her tentacle arm and her expression. Also, it's very fitting that Babs is an agent of The Man...! Seriously, your art rocks and I have no words.

Brentony yo this was pretty cool, I like the humor with the whole misundertanding and lasers and I actuallly quite like the sudden ending, it works well with your setup and got a laugh out of me. The backgrounds leave to be desired, though I know you do what you can on this kind of deadline... my main problem with this was the way you made the transmission from homeworld; the spiky bubbles, as well as their placement, really made it sound like a loudspeaker for everyone to hear, rather than a private phone conversation. Charlie your art is pretty strong as always, very dynamic and all that and I very much like the colours you got. It seemed rather silly of b'abyl' to come in with only one charge, you'd think she'd come better prepared to carry out her assassination assignment. It all feels a bit... contrived, though entertaining enough.

Broooooo those pages are sick. I knew I was gonna lose, but I didn't know just how bad! I love the way you drew Babs! And the Divine Shitlords. I just love it. And I can't wait to see where you're taking Ai's story! I really want to work at becoming better at comicking and at art in general. And I learned a lot doing this, but there's still so much to do! I couldn't have gotten brutally murdered by anyone better <3 Also, I'm super glad you guys liked the V-Beam and the butt clench. ;)

Thanks Karma, I actually worked kinda all over the place on the comic so there definitely is inconsistencies as I hopped around the pages and panels. The bottom half of page one was actually the last thing I worked on in the entire comic as I felt the other areas were more vital to get right. I think choosing to colour shot me in the foot because I had to rush the linework in a lot of areas due to having LESS time than last round. It was a mistake I really quite regret, and that's actually a point I had brought up with friends that colouring the comic wasn't the smartest move. If I proceed to future rounds I actually will have increasingly less time to work on these as the rounds go on...so I think I may stick to black and white even though those tend to score lower overall on the site I feel. Babs was actually fun to draw, I just usually pour more time into redesigning characters to fit my universe but again, time got the better of me and I went halfway between what was there and where I wanted to take it. I didn't get to push the character visually as much as I'd have loved to - I wanted to really deck out the jacket for example to tie it further into the alien enemy faction (as well as there was a point where I was gonna visualize giving her a more "skull"-ish face). I really wish I had had even just one more day of solid work, I could have polished it up a lot more haha. Thanks for the comment and glad you are into it :)!

Brentony- I love Babs, and I especially love her expressions. I'm glad you made it where she knew of Ai already (I hadn't really considered the Cosmic part of her name until now. Just considered it a random magical girl title). Also, that buttclench on page one just killed me. I think you could have done more with the lazer effects because they look kind of flat, but they serve their purpose with Ai magicking it up in the background while wailing on Can't Dance's master. Also, Ai's death seemed a little 'meh' since it was sudden in the very last panel, but those page limits are rough so I can understand it. Charlie- Plot twist! She's a magical girl alien. Double plot twist! She's not the only "Main Character" in anime high school. I love everything about it heheh. But your linework really declined from your last comic. Like on page 1, top half looks like you put a ton of time into it, bottom half looks like it's from a different comic. Maybe you rushed for time to color, maybe Babs being so far from your normal style threw you off. But it does make the action look less cool than Ai's previous comic. But! I'm still all wrapped up in Ai's story and hope to see more of her and her alien nemesis.

Charlie: Dude you already know, how cool I fricken think you made my character look! Also Max and Ai in that one pannel is probably the cutest thing ever, I'd ship it Hhahaha! =w = Brentony: Dude the V Beam made me laugh, also I got psyched out on that first page, This overall fun to read and well paced. All round love the work.
