wow i din't see this thread blowing up so much when i first read the comics. I'll be honest I get the rule thing, so that is cool. But eh I loved all the work everyone poured into this tourney and I want to fight both sheldon and gabe sometime when the stars align and I finish a few intro comics I set aside while i draw fan art for people lol. Gabe it's been said already but let me restate it, you hit a higher level of emotion in your one page then most people accomplish in 10x the amount of page count :) I am glad i got to read it. Sheldon: loved the first two pages of visual crack and I understand people having withdrawals for more (junkies what you gonna do) lol but i'll be serious, the text conversation between you two did actually make me laugh. Literally a real life "lol" and, like i mentioned before, the fact that i got to it after gabes' was great. But page 1 and 2 epic shit man loved it! I loved everything you guys put out this tourney. Everyone did a great job, so much so that in the down time I have read a retarded amount of old stories. I have gone through more void comic pages in the last 2 months then printed comic pages in the last two years.

I'll say this here in hopes everyone can see it, and can hopefully take a leaf from it. Judging by the more-than-gracious response from the mods, I feel bad for them, because they feel the need to quote rules and explain their decision. When really, all that needs to be said is: "You guys put up shit comics, and we're taking them down." But I guess in the 5 years I've been absent, these mods have been conditioned by much, MUCH whining. But you guys can skip the candor with me and Gabe, because we understand thar rule, and we know we put up shit haha. You guys (namely kev, heather, wei, and brit) run this site real well, and it's yours, and I love being allowed to come back here, and I thank you for it xoxo

I talked to Gabe and neither of them expected to actually have these posted in the first place. They seem to be ok with it, and I appreciate the effort in trying to get something up at the very least. There's barely anything to vote on here though. There also hasn't been a page minimum in a long time.

This isn't SDT and Red specifically posted this before any comics went up "Y'all are crazy, so I wanted to explain the actual rules because I know some of you haven't uploaded a comic in literally 5 years: 1. Post your comic ON TIME. If you try to sneak it in after the deadline, its being removed. 2. Excuse pages are NOT ALLOWED ANYMORE. If you write a big paragraph and don't draw a comic, don't bother uploading that garbage because it's not getting posted. If you want to explain yourself, do it in the comments. Same goes for splash, pin-up, or covers ... that doesn't count as a comic, so if that's all you got then don't bother. 3. You gotta draw your opponent, and they have to die. Should be obvious, but if you upload only 1 page and it looks super nice but you didn't draw the other guy then too bad. The bare minimum for posting the comic is it has to ACTUALLY BE A COMIC, and ALL INVOLVED CHARACTERS MUST BE IN IT. 4. 50 Million years ago, there was a page limit. That doesn't exist anymore, so if you have more than 10 pages you no longer have to stack them! Page minimum is also gone! The uploader is pretty decent now, so as long as your pages are properly sized you should be ok. If you are having real difficulties, you must comment on the battle and let us know. Email Wei and I and we will help. You have to let us know, otherwise we will assume you defaulted. You guys can agree on rules or stuff amongst yourselves, but as long as the entries meet those requirements they will go up. I think he was just suggesting to keep the page count low, which I agree is a good idea! Good luck!!" Your opponent dying is pretty much the most basic obvious requirement for a death match, much like scar matches where you must show the character receiving a scar.

I'm with Adam, I still found these entertaining even though shit came up and you guys didn't get to give it more. I'm super grateful you guys, along with everyone else, came back to void for this SDT. I had an awesome time but still didn't get to face either of you unfortunately, maybe next time.

Killing your opponent in an SDT match isn't a rule, it's something that is extremely advised but it has never been something that comics were not put up to vote on for. There were battles this SDT that didn't have deaths, battles in last years SDT, including the one that I lost in with Kalah. And battles in other SDTs. As far as I know the only real requirements were that you include yours and your opponents character and that you meet the minimum page requirements met.

i was still really entertained, Gabe your ending was actually quite satisfying, I enjoyed your writing and characterizations throughout, you brought that emotion! I applaud the amount of ground you covered with 1 page. Sheldon you told a good story here and i enjoyed the spot illos and typography, also the action bits in the beginning looked damnn epic. Thanks to you guys and all the old timers,etc.. for bringin back some heat to the void streets! I only checked out this battle so I could see how great you guys were, in getting to the top of murderfest and like, what. Really. Sheldon, your first two pages look cool, and maybe you were trying to be funny by posting your 5 stages of how to not do what you're supposed to, but like, super rude. Super slanderous. Not cool at all. Ha ha ha, you'll wait and do your comic until the last minute like always, hilarious. I bet you find that super funny right now. Galvo, I like your font, I like the way you color in this kind of grey/black/green noise, the colors go really well together. Not a huge fan of your style, but to each their own. The writing was cool, up until the bit where he uses a jizz simile for the guy descending and dissolving into acid. It sounds cool at first then it's hey. Wait. That doesn't even make that much sense and it's super inappropriate for the context, but I guess maybe that's just the way the character is--a werd pervy dude who has no issues connecting death with jacking off.

It's not personal; I don't think any less of you guys for turning in unfinished work, it's just not up-to-par with what it seems like you've been gearing up to. And you even mentioned that, according to Sheldon's excuse pages. And I mean, I was still entertained by both comics, even if they were shitty. But they were still shitty, and I hope you do something to make up for that after all the work you both put into your story arcs up to this point. As far as bending rules goes, I think that might be a good discussion to have somewhere else. We're trying to tighten things up so we can be more fair and consistent and avoid people feeling targeted or left out because they didn't receive the same leniency as someone else, but maybe there are occasions where it's okay to be more lenient. If you have experience that you'd like to share, I think maybe a chat with the current Council members might be beneficial. Not that I'm in any position to set that up or make that statement officially, but it's just my two cents about the situation.

I think you both could have put more/different effort into your excuse pages. sheld: damn, it would have been so easy. instead of putting so much effort into excuse pages, you could have just done a cop out last page of galvo getting out of red 6 and then slipping and falling off to his death. BOOM. and no one would be the wiser. gabe: you could have easily done an extra panel of charlie's death. next panel, well into the future, charlie in his death bed dying of natural causes. BOOM. step up the cop out/excuse game, boys.
