bobo- i figured she was in her late teens- i was sorta basing it off of sheldon's first comic- where she's all sexy n that. so i guess yah- itd be in the future. i took the route with charley because i my heart i knew sheldon would win. i love mel to death, but I had my bets on sheldon. not to mention i could have just as easily killed him off in a battle vs lune if she had won. thnx duuude.

@neens: The panel towards the end with Girl standing there silhouetted against the light of the park in contrast to the darkness of the forest, one eye glowing, just gives me the chills. That one scene felt like an entire novel crammed into a moment. A moment where you realize that this one blind girl has seen more than a person ever hopes to see in their lifetime. A moment where you wonder just who she really is. The fact that this comic begins with her turning a blind eye (pun maybe intended?) while Dog zombifies an entire forest just adds to the darkness that lurks at the end of your comic. And starting it off with your ridiculous synopsis of future Galvo's true reason for coming back in time (especially considering how futile this effort is in the first place) just adds immense weight to the darkness at the end of your comic. As for my critique, I'm having a hard time pinpointing exactly where your comic fails. I feel like there's a little bit of flatness in your storytelling; perhaps a lack of human personality among the characters. That may not be your fault; I know that Girl was meant to be a somewhat generic character (although this comic makes me begin to question that), and Future Galvo has this sort of "I am only doing what must be done" resignation in his personality that makes him hard to write in such a way as to offset the generic quality of Girl's personality. I think you did a good job showing little bits and pieces of his personality shining through, and the backstory makes sense of his lack of strong emotional connection to his mission. He seems lost, even as he acts sure of himself until the last moment. I may be over-analyzing this comic, but the more I think about it the more brilliant it seems to me. Since I haven't read Galvo's comic yet, I don't know whether to wish you luck on your next round or to be sad that things are ending right as you start to really draw me in. Either way, thanks for participating in this tournament so far, and for giving me more of your work and more of these characters. @galvo: Well, I don't know if you just guessed at who your final opponent is or if you cheated because of luniara's in-laws and stuff, but I still like the way you tied Charlie into your comic. I have to say, the first thing that irked me right from the beginning is Girl's boobs. Isn't she supposed to be like 12 or something? I guess your comic could be taking place in the future, but even if that's the case, the way they hang and their general shape and everything just kind of grossed me out. I don't know why such a nitpicky kind of detail would bother me so much; maybe it's from reading your comic right after neens's clean-lined comic where her character doesn't even have boobs, or maybe it's just some sort of personal OCD I have, but that bothered me way more than I wanted it to. The second thing that bothered me—and this really is much more relevant—is how out-of-character Girl is. It didn't feel like there was any reason for her to jump Galvo in his sleep and threaten him the way she did. I guess in your comics so far it's been a straightforward tournament metaplot, so I get why Girl and Dog would be out to kill Galvo, but it kind of seems like they could have just killed him in his sleep and been done with it. Alternatively, maybe they were going to try to make a deal. Hrm... it's a tough call for me because she didn't get a chance to say anything regarding her motives, and everything just got taken over by Galvo's flashback and Dog being his from the future. I thought that was a neat twist, but it also felt a little done before. I didn't feel as surprised as I think I should have as the reader. It's unfortunate that neens used a similar plot device, which is probably part of why it felt predictable. What I really liked about it, however, was the flashback and some of the things it revealed about this version of Galvo. The idea that he used Dog as his seeing-eye dog just like Girl does (perhaps in the exact same way? It was a little unclear, but that's what my mind automatically assumed) is really interesting. Plus, in the midst of being part of an army of clones or alternate versions of Galvo, this particular clone having a dog that's special to him brings out the fact that he's still an individual. It even suggests the possibility that there is something different about this iteration of Galvo in comparison to previous (or future) versions. I was surprised by Galvo being blind (and deaf? or did he just have some sort of special device on his ear?), and it makes me curious about how that happened, especially in such a futuristic world. Why did he use glasses to restore his vision rather than having some sort of cybernetic eyes? I want to know more! I have to say, your character is very interesting, I love your storytelling style and am still crazy about your neo-noir vibe, and the way you use your limited pallette is phenomenal. And that last line... wow. I want to see this final conflict, because it's promising to be a heavy one. Just like last round, I want both of you to win. It's kind of unfair that Gabe still has the original Galvo available even if this one dies, while neens loses Girl and Dog completely, but then again, you both chose how you would approach this tournament and were ready to accept whatever happens. Tears will be shed either way. Now go on, both of you, and do great things! I can't wait to see next round, no matter who wins!
