Oh Adam, I so would have loved to read that - perhaps next time ;) Anyways, thanks for a good fight, what I will really take from this battle is the will to take my art to the next level - so if I ever become a world-famous artist (because a man can dream, right?) don't be shy in taking some of the credit for that ;) Thanks for the feedback y'all, I'll be working hard on my backgrounds and using tones / lineweight to separate characters and background and create better focal points - till next time!

Thanks Fed for a great round, and a super fun character to draw! I still am kind of sad I didn't go with a story from Farah's home world where they are all watching the thing happen via some mystical magic tv kind of deal. Then when she loses her dad kills himself and the world riots it's self into oblivion... but it was an either or lol. My princess might need to learn a leson and accidentally loose her heels lol Puzzlething: Thank you very much. Yeah along with writing I need to work on how i handle font. I tend to get carried away in general but I'll try and subdue that in the coming match. I see tones of options and just want to try them all :) And I already have 2 comics getting fleshed out for when this awesome tourney ends. :) (synje introduced me to this site and I must now go after his characters.... cause i am a good friend like that) Bobo: Thanks! You are correct. I felt the same thing mid way through working on it, just felt too close bringing back dead ancestors. I am pretty sure no one left has any powers or objects that do that... so we should be good there, shouldn't happen again :) I should be able to dive into a bit more of the G.Princess now to, I wasn't sure if I'd still be around but about now is a good time to start that ball of wax so I promise live or die a bit more of her will be uncovered this round and maybe a bit of her motivations. LeFred: Thanks man! Yeah I'll bring down the ambitious fonts lol Seems to be a common negative and totally something i need to improve on.

Fed - Your line quality and variation could use a little work. It gets a little uniform and very slightly wobbly. It's not even everywhere, just in enough spots that it takes away from what could be very dynamic characters and makes your art feel less polished. Work on getting your lines down faster and more expressively, and check to make sure the brush and program you're using for your line work is capable of making nice lines, since that can be an annoyingly common problem. Also, it's a small complaint, but I don't think you would've needed those arrows on page 2 if you had kept the crowd panels separated by the gutter and not had stuff popping out of one panel into the next. It was such dramatic story, and you've kept the emotions running so high since the start of the tourney. I can't believe how much you devoted yourself to having a horde present, jesus, so much drawing. I would've been way tempted to phone it in, but you got in there and just dreeeeeeeew. Crazy effort dude! Adam - So pretty. I dunno if I said this last round, but it definitely bears repeating how awesome and dynamic all your poses and expressions are. I think the only thing I don't love about how this comic looks is most the text related stuff. Swapping between fonts constantly is distracting for no real payoff, and the text you put down for sound effects doesn't mesh well with your amazing art. I think if you just drew the sound stuff in yourself it would look amazing. I almost can't wait for you to be out of the tourney, after killing us all or not, because I really want to see what you can do with a proper amount of time. Everything you do is already so good!

Fed: ok cool. So I went through all your pages posted in void. (Cowboy character is awesome by the way) And I don't want to sound like a parrot but some of this will because I have seen things mentioned before and I'll just throw my hat in with the bunch :) First off I love your story telling! You do little subtile things very well to make me want to see everything you got going on. With the goblins for instance the shot with the goblin looking at the reader then turning toward Farah is great! The duck in there hilarious! And the choping off of the head then punching it while it still floats in mid air... Priceless lol. the writing was epic and then to off set it with the absurd at the very last second! Great! So that leads us into the art and look. I think the visual higher archly and environments is where things tend to break down, when they do break down. I totally get this cause when I started drawing I was doing it for the characters not the mailbox in the bg behind him. But there are times when the just abbreviating the environment kind of takes away from your fun characters. There where a few times with the grave stones and the goblin princess where I was wondering the size of either and if she was massive or the stones where just tiny, or if I was missing the perspective.. Now let's not get anything thing twisted time for this stuff is a huge factor so save it as much as possible. But (I didn't check time limit before writing this so this might be off base) in some of the cowboy stuff I noticed similar things where a great character was walking infront of a rushed city street. I don't think people need to go in and draw every stone in an enviornment though, but what yo do show just bring it to the level of your characters. I also agree with adding another tone. You can do that with cross hatching or a gray wash in photoshop or even ink if you like. I would assume that a photoshop or ink wash would be best with your style and think that where this might seem hard you'll find is much quicker and simpler then you might expect. Just adding a 30% gray that you use to push things back or give the feel of lighting will really help you step up your game to the next level. It's hard to suggest to people the best way to go about this with out knowing how the person thinks. If you don't use photo shop at all I'd suggest just using a water downed ink to wash in shadows. If you use photoshop you could always drop a 35% black multiply layer above the line work then erase out the highlights and lighter tones to guide your reader's eye. If you want to add realism that's cool to. But don't feel like you have to go all out. I think if you just tighten up environments when you show them and give a bit more form or visual direction with a shade you'll find you take a giant leap toward the feel you probably want. I love your use of blacks (be it a solid black vest, or characters hair) to pop things out. Lets just try out a subtile middle ground here and there to balance the extreme white and black combo. I could go on... With ideas to try lol but that is the thing with art style there are only a handful of wrong answers and countless correct ones. Just all depends on where you want to go :)

Fed: I feel ya, bro. Your art is fun, and I don't think you necessarily need realism for it to be good. For you personally, I would suggest working on more immersive environments (I prefer "environment" over "background") and try shading or coloring your work to help improve your focal points, etc. Check out "Gestalt theory" for some ideas on ways you can lead your reader's eye using your art. I think that will help a lot. :)

Fed: I really enjoyed your comic. Your art isn't super detailed or exact, but your storytelling is beautiful, and the ending was a fun surprise. I think you could work on focal points a little bit more. Part of it is probably just lack of shading, but in a lot of panels my eye had no idea where to go. You want to make sure there's enough contrast between objects that you can tell them apart easily. Can't wait for more from you! Adam: Your style is great as always; your action scenes really did it for me, and your limited color palette worked beautifully. I can't help but feel like you kind of recycled last round's plot, however, with the ancestors appearing to help the princess. Maybe that was just who you ended up fighting, but it still felt a little redundant. I'd also like to learn a bit more about Goblin Princess herself. So far I don't really know much, so I hope we get to learn more in future rounds!

High Heels, you have such amazing storytelling skills, the dramatic stuff was super dramatic and compelling and the contrast it made for the joke at the end was just perfect. You could use to have more dymanic poses, Farah's body is often too straight, even if her arms and legs are flailing all about. You ask for advice, this is mine, your anatomy is fine, it's a charming cartoony style you got, just learn to twist that body more. 1000th, once again, super beautiful and I like that you included your prevous opponent's goblin. Cute touch. I did get a bit lost at the end because of all the close ups and text effects covering everything. Not so much that I didn't get what was going on, but enough to be annoyed and break the flow a bit. Still, very brutal, very nice. good job you guys.

Fed: man oh man! The punchline in there! And the goblins! apparently enough to stop a stick but not a sword :( lol I got to tell you, you had me cracking up with some of the little critters in there! I think you did a wonderful job! I'll look through it and give a more thoughtful crit a bit later. I just wanted to let you know that I loved it! that was great!

Cruel Adam.. Cruel, but oh so wonderfully drawn! Teach me great master! I really dig the way you draw Farah and some extra pluspoints for working her items into the story - good work, I can see a deserved victory in the pipeline on this one ^^ EDIT: Hah, and about crit, what can I critique about your comic.. If anything the pacing was a bit fast, it could use a few breathers here and there.. but seriously, making this great quality in just a week is impressive - as I said before, you must teach me, master!

Me 2!! Fed this was a blast to draw! I really liked your character and the back story. I really couldn't settle on how to take the story. But I went with one that seemed fun to draw.... even though the other was going to be cool... maybe if i win i can do an epilogue lol. I can't wait to see your story! Good Luck! Let the GAMES BEGIN! (and i don't know.... the more goblins near me the greater the chance i will shake a stick at them... although maybe if there are so many that nothing in the room can move... you'd be right! Stick shaking would be improbable.)

Completed! Uploaded!! And with more goblins than you can shake a stick at!!! Anyways, this battle really made me realize how far I am from "eating at the adult table". I really, really need to level up on my art but I am not sure how to go about it. A dash more realism might be useful, perhaps I should focus on shading, is it my anatomy that is lacking.... any advice?? Adam, I am superstoked to see what you've come up with!! Can't wait dude!:D

Don't give up yet, Fed! Upsets happen all the time in tournaments! Besides, even if you lose, you'll be proud if you turn in a good, finished comic!
